I got sold in 55 seconds. Literally just added a grommet kit to my Amazon shopping list. It's just this kind of thing you don't think of until you realise how convenient and easy it is to DIY.
@@henryvalero9235 just put a stronger material (but not too thick) on both sides, cut through all the layers, and pound the grommet in. Trim the excess material you don't want. Could also put a dab of glue between material and grommets for a stronger seal.
possibly, but it wouldnt work nearly as well as a regular tool. if you mean in place of the hammer and the tool, i wouldnt reccomend it because it would likely just mess up your grommet. in place of the hammer, sure, but it might slip and if it has any sharp edges, slice your thumb
Good timing on this video. I'm actually going to be heading to Rural King to pick me up a grommet kit. I need to replace one on my Army duffle bag. Thank you
Cool deal, another idea would be to use a lighter for example, after making the holes and burn the ends of some material before installing the grommets; I think that would even secure them more:)
The one thing you have said over and over lead me to start prepping years ago. "One is none. two is one". So dang true and has been my motto ever since. Thanks
Great video. Clear information and demonstration. Easy, steady pace to learn by. I only wish it wasn't just for "guys" ( ya know??); I'm a gal and we like to use grommets too!!
Right. The smaller grommets use a tool, that looks like a pair of pliers or a hole punch, and the larger ones use the tool you use with a hammer, unless you get the special grommet press. I've uased the hammer-tool on leather projects.
Don I still think you should do a video of nothing but your Bloopers. In this day and age we all need a good laugh And I really enjoy your Bloopers at the end of a video Thanks good Info
Thank you very much from England for this vid, just what I was looking for. Btw, has anyone told you that you look like a young Gene Hackman, just to let you know that's good, I love that man, especially in the French Connection!
You are a fucking gangster!!! this video was incredibly helpful. We were trying to add some gromets to a sound blanket at the Planned Parenthood chapter that I run and the other videos were just trash. Thank you for this info. The twisting technique is incredibly helpful. I kept having uneven mushrooming before I saw this.
Which side is the best for the front side of the towel or tarp, would have liked to know that, I know guys don't typically care about front or back. Lol!
Thanks for step by step easy to instructions on how to install grommets. Forgot after years of not installing it. Ur upload saved me so much time, energy n trial n error to figure it out. Kudos. Newcsubscriber because of this vid. Anticipating other uploads.
I've been looking on Amazon for a grommet kit. However I'm hesitant to trust most tools on amazon with random, usually chinese, brand names. Most review channels on RU-vid I've learned not to trust as well. They just repeat what the top search results are. Imagine my surprise when your face pops up in my RU-vid search! Lol I've come to trust your gun reviews on your other channel. I was unaware you had another channel. Anyways when I saw your face I thought "Sootch!! Finally a review worth listening to!" Thank you for all the information you put out into the word for us to learn from.
Thank you for explaining the reason behind rotating the hammer! Understanding why something needs to be done makes it far more likely that I'll actually take the time to do it properly!
You can use this method for collecting rain water in survival situations, using a tarp and make 4 grommets in it and you can hang it on a tree or makeshift hangers. You should add grommets in your survival kits.
Hi... Use a self healing cutting mat 5×5 as a base instead of cardboard. Thank you for the detailed instructions..I was putting the washer on backwards. Thanks again
Hi, What I need to know is How is the sizing of the grommet measured? Is it the size of the internal hole after it is fitted? I have asked around and looked on ebay but cant find the answer. Thanks Jim in NZ.
Finally, someone that showed me all the steps. When I was putting them in the grommet would not crunch down. I watched four other how to videos with none of them showing the missing step. I come over to a gun channel and you showed it. Thanks.
If you need a hammer for it in your pack i will advise a steel advengers thor keychain. Not verry heavy and you can even hammer some small nails. Will take you a while to hammer the big stuff tho.
Not only did I like your demo on grommets, but I LOVED what you had to say at the end. That tells me you're a pretty durn good guy. ;-) Keep up the good work.
Nothing beats a good sewing/patch repair kit and a handful of grommets with a ball peen hammer LOL. I like it. I think grommets should be added to the shortlist of useful items along side duct tape and para cord.
Good info to know. I have seen more technical methods of installing grommets but this will fit in your bag easily for a tarp repair or to make more points of attachment to make a better tarp.
