Why don’t these dishwashers come ready to plug-in? That’s what I wanna know. There’s no advantage to making everybody wire up a plug everybody’s wiring up the same plug why? When you pay the price that you pay for these dishwashers don’t think include an electric plug. They also should come with their own type of water line, you should be able to take it out of the box put all that stuff in the cabinet, bead it through the appropriate holes you have drilled and be that far along.
@JackofAllCarbinc
@JackofAllCarbinc Год назад
Might be due to the way that you wire it up. There are two diferent ways that you can wire up the dishwasher, one is direct and the other is like seen on this video with electrical outlet, it would just make sense to make it an easy plug and play wish the companies would just do it that way.

By the way, Kitchenaid/Koltura website (suggested on install) said that pink compression collar is for outside drain near incinerator. For inside dishwasher connector, you need to use a smaller (white) commpression collar and work hard to put it on.

Check the back for clearance and your wall outlet! It might be helpful to show to back of the unit. We had a situation yesterday with my install. The electrical outlet was put in too high on the wall and the plug sticks out so it wouldn't go all the way in. Today my husband is redoing the outlet down and sideways!!! KitchenAid a flat face outlet plug would be good!

You attached the drain hose with the pink clamp. It should be the silver clamp included with the DW. This is an important distinction. The pink clamp is too big and if you turn the machine on you will have water everywhere because the hose will come loose.

@sarahgrenke703
@sarahgrenke703 Год назад
Why would they have the pink clamp included then? Just curious.
@Mayhem48
@Mayhem48 Год назад
@@sarahgrenke703 The pink one is used to attach the other end of the drain hose to a garbage disposal since it is a larger diameter. The silver one is for the 90 degree elbow that attaches to the DW. If the other end of the drain hose is not directly going to the garbage disposal, you can cut off the large end off the hose and attach it to the "T" fitting of an air gap if needed.

My instruction manual says to use silver clamp on the drain hose attached to machine, not the pink one. I have some extra insulation also-was hard to use install. Meanwhile was pretty straight forward. Thanks Question-does it need to be leveled accurately, or it is fine just if it will not shake?
@JackofAllCarbinc
@JackofAllCarbinc 2 года назад
i guess it depends on model for the clamp.... it took a bit of patience with the insulation but got it all to work and after it was said and done yes pretty easy install. As far as leveling,I didnt really level mine as you saw by video ...i had a big 1 inch gap on top by counter but the clamps held it just fine, i have not had any issues with it so as long as theres no major issues with flooring you should be fine, glad it helped and thanks for watching.

yes.....that air gap is what moves the old dirty water out to drain, it goes up thru there then down and out of garbage disposal slot, but if you dont have garbage disposal then it has to get connected to the drain under sink they sell a adapter that has a connection to your air gap and drain line from under sink.

Hate to say it but the manual says not to use pre-tinned wires on the terminal block. If you search the part number in the manual you can find the cord that has the ring terminals on all 3 wires. It is odd they are still selling install kits with the old style cord since they(Whirlpool) switched to the terminal block a couple of years ago.

We just had our KitchenAid dishwasher installed over the weekend and it sticks out from the cabinet like yours. Shouldn’t it be able to go further back so that you don’t see the top black strip with all the controls on it? The installer said he couldn’t get ours to go back any further but that doesn’t seem right.
@JackofAllCarbinc
@JackofAllCarbinc 2 года назад
Hi ...not sure how far it sticks out but it should show the top screen so you know when its done or heating or? but not sure if its too far out. I did have that issue on mine that was way too far out....about 1 inch. I figured out that the plug to connect to wall outlet was a straight plug so when i pushed washer back it hit the wall plug and did not allow it to go back any further. What i had to do was buy a l shaped wall plug sold at any lowes/homedepot and that got me the extra inch i needed BUT it did require me to pull out the dishwasher and completely rewire again with new cable so it was a slight pain, not sure if thats something that was your same case and they just didnt want to spend the extra time. You can see if you pull the dishwasher out and the wall plug is right behind washer and its a straight plug thats probably your issue and you might be able to get it just a bit further back if you get a new l angled wall connection plug. Hope that helps.

Same problem installing mine…The newer units are about 1/2” deeper than the older one I was replacing. If you have granite countertops, like mine…There’s a support board back there that was exactly 1/2” thick, so I cut it down to make smaller in width & notched out a pc in the middle (apprx 6” wide) for that bump-out at the back of my new Kitchenaide DW. Hope this helps!

I figured white with white, but can I wrap around and flatten the wiring out with the screw, or do I need to have that circle part? (I don't know what the real name is)

You can if you want to spend extra money, I have not had any issues with the rubber hoses and hopefully will outlast the dishwasher.

Why did you not replace with a Bosch?
@JackofAllCarbinc
@JackofAllCarbinc 2 года назад
Hi. Well good question. Bosch was actually a great machine and i know it saved me more water. They are highly rated but One of the reasons is that I Hayed the rack layout of that Bosch and if you look at their reviews alot of people complain about them. It as really a constant annoyance. That was one of the reasons but the major one was that someone had not picked up that washer as a special order and i was able to get it at as uper great deal. The bosch i had still worked but the lay out always bugged me and when i saw this kitchenaid at over 50 percent off it was a no brainer, Kitchenaids also have a pretty good record but the water use i believe is better on the Bosch. It as not worth looking into a newer Bosch since i dont think i would have saved that much compared to getting this kitchenaid on sale. Hope that helps.

I should have installed mine my self, but had worst buy install it so they could take the old one. My previous Kitchenaid lasted 20 years. The idiots left the blanket off. I called and complained and they ordered me one. It is a little thin, and only goes around the tub, it doesn't cover the rear of the machine. I elected to pull the machine out and install it myself.

Thats why its sometimes best to do yourself, no one takes the time to do it right if its not their property or money being spent.

Costco just installed this without the blanket around it. He said it didnt need but it sounds really loud?
@JackofAllCarbinc
@JackofAllCarbinc 2 года назад
that blanket is pretty much the sound barrier that is the main purpose of that. I would not recommend removing unless you want to install the dishwasher in your garage....he is correct its not required but its meant to lower the noise.
@beckylawler6569
@beckylawler6569 2 года назад
Did the Costco guy keep your insulation blanket? If you watch enough dishwasher install videos you'll see that some blankets are thicker than others. The more money you pay, the thicker the blanket, the quieter the dishwasher. I've heard of some people adding the blanket from their old machine to the top of the blanket of their new machine for even more quiet. I hope he didn't take your blanket.
@joncdodge
@joncdodge 2 года назад
He did take it- they came back and installed a lesser blanket (telling me it was the original - Costco did find out and gave me a partial rebate. Would have rather had the sound proofing blanket. Costco did offer a complete switch out of units but the inconvenience is too high with younger kids.
@beckylawler6569
@beckylawler6569 2 года назад
@@joncdodge I'm glad Costco acknowledged responsibility. At least that's something. 😕 The only reason I can think of why he would keep your blanket is to add it to his own dishwasher. #@$&% !!!

@sergeydolzhin1846
@sergeydolzhin1846 2 года назад
Use voltmeter to find out hot wire (connect voltmeter to green and find cable that actually shows 110v) that has to be black and the other one will be white. Do not connect black to white-will ruin machine controller.
@SerenoOunce
@SerenoOunce 2 года назад
On the two black wires, one of the jackets should be smooth and the other will have a small ribbed texture to it. Smooth is HOT, ribbed is Neutral.

Lol sadly yes...main reason is that there are different ways to install. you can hardwire or wire the way i did. also some connections are diferent, I had a bosh washer before and all the fitting had to be redone since there way of connecting is way different,

I returned mine (same model as installed here) for a Bosch because there is no indication that this dishwasher intends to be lower than the surrounding doors by at least an inch… notice in the video how low the door of the dishwasher sits relative to the surrounding cabinets… you won’t find that on any of Kitchenaid’s marketing materials or website pages… all images are of a nice tidy gap between door and counter, with the dishwasher lined up nicely with surrounding cabinets. Also, the installation instructions have you measure and adjust the legs, but then you cannot slide the dishwasher in because the insulation interferes… the instructions would have the door line up next to the counter (so you couldn’t see the little timer - which wasn’t a concern for me), but there’s no room for the insulation, so you have to adjust the legs back in. I thought this was both unsightly and deceptive, and the retailer agreed after I explained the problem, which they were not aware of, and they waived the restocking fee.
