How to Install a Patio cover with Recessed Lights & Fans!

Turned out great! For cutting the tops. I use a laser like you did to set the bottom marks, but then I just do the math for 1/4" per foot for the slope. Here is AZ we are mostly one man crews. We have a few ways to set the beam alone. I build my post plates on single headers and use them as a saddle for the beam. On double headers. I use a gutter stand, or build my post plates and set the beams on those and use a bar clamp to hold it while I screw it. On the lights and fan beams, we cap the top so they don't fill with water when it rains. The supplier calls them a 8" carport fascia and then are a U shape that covers everything like a hat. It turned out really nice! I'm sure the customer is thrilled.

David, Typically patio installers use industrial metal tripods to hold up the beams. They have telescoping bars with threaded rods in the middle to easily adjust the height. With two tripods, it can be a one-man job but more makes the job go faster

Hi, great job. Just a little thing would be good for the electricity installation safety. I would put a rubber rings on the steel sharp edges where the cables are going out through the steel pillars or to the rooftop lights and fans. 👍

Do you ever use clamps when working on those post that are up high to hold like a straight edge, if working alone. edit: you answered my question 3 min later, I would of use some vise clamps they are easy to use b y yourself

Just a bit of nomenclature: Fan blades, not fan wings. Wire nuts, not wire caps.

How far apart are each row of lights? I've been reading they should be no more than 6-8 feet apart for proper coverage.
