I made mine using 20 foot long 1/4 diameter rods. My pond is a bit larger and I have to leave it up all the time due to the many herons we have. I painted the rods black and domed it much higher. That way you really don’t even notice it too much. Also it allows for my marginal plants to grow without poking through the net. My cannas get very high. Others have loved it so much they had me do it on their ponds.

Dude , it worked great and I only used half inch pipe , which fits perfectly into 3/4 inch conduit cut to 6 inches driven into the ground ... Thank you Sir !

lovely idea. I have a large bird bath under a tree that drops tons of leaves 🙄 I think I'll use your pvc idea for cheap+easy coverage ☺

yea, it definitely helps for heavy leaf falls. We add them on almost all of our pond netting projects in the Fall

For a slightly larger pond, like mine, this doesn't work though I wish it did. I tried it with 1" PVC pipe, and it wasn't strong enough to hold the net over our 11'x15' kidney-bean shaped pond. I ended up having to buy some very long 2x4 wooden boards and construct a frame for it to be sturdy enough to support both itself and a net. BTW, your pond looks great.

If you have access to someplace that sells steel get some 20 foot lengths of 1/4 diameter hot rolled steel. Paint black and you can arch as high as you want. I made mine high so you hardly notice it. If you need more than 20 foot ( like I did for the length of the pond) you can couple pieces together. Just find tubing that will slip over to join pieces. The steel rod is actually easy to bend and you can bend it to odd shapes unlike PVC. Hope this helps. Nothing worse than making a great pond look bad with netting. I have to have all year due to herons. It works and doesn’t look bad at all.
