How to Install a Projector Screen (90" Motorised) with Brackets to Avoid a TV

I'm installing a motorised projector screen in this video - this is a 90 inch screen. At around 10kg I didn't trust hanging it from the ceiling as it just attaches to a single screw on each side, plus it needed to sit in front of the TV screen. Wall mounting with some simple off-set brackets gives a VERY strong fixing. In reality the ceiling would *probably* have been absolutely fine but I'll sleep better with it installed like this. I deliberately haven't shown anything about installing the cabling / power to the screen as there's so many ways of doing this depending on your wall construction etc. This was dot & dab and easy to run the cable behind the plasterboard. Enjoy and don't forget to Subscribe!

Gosforth Handyman hey u got a question for you. I am considering an install for projector screen but needs an offset of approx 20cm from the wall, yes to avoid TV. The only issue I have is that I also have a ceiling fan which if I install the projection screen, the end of the fan blade will be approx 4 feet away. I am not worried about it hitting the fan for such distance. My worry is that the wind from the fan affecting the sturdiness of he screen causing wobble whenever I watch movie. From your experience, do you think it will cause a problem?

Excellent video. Thanks so much for sharing. The only thing I'll do differently is paint the brackets before installing. Leave the touch up only after the install. Thanks again 👍

I installed a 150 inch with 3 floating brackets in the ceiling. Some screws hit the stud, some I have to use the dry wall plastic thingy. So far it works but still don’t feel easy. Will have to do similar ideas to mount it on the wall with space to avoid the TV. Thx for the idea.

@@rimmerd9908 my screen did not hit a stud on both ends so what i did was put a piece of wood to hit both studs then put my bracket on the wood, now i have room to put any size screen. wish i can put photo here..

@@housbinpharteen7445 I get it! I used to use the old 'Tap the Wall with Something Hard" method which usually worked. My stud finder is mainly for electricity which it does okay. It's good to know the stud distance on each wall as it's likely that will run as a measurement throughout the property.. Cheers for the video!

Glad I came past this, I just bought the same screen but manual, would this method work for 120 inch? Also is it possible to extend it out 25 mm from wall.

Can you set a custom stop point for where the screen stops extending down or do you have to manual stop it if you don’t want to it to extend fully? Does it support IR universal remotes?
@AaronAbernethy
@AaronAbernethy 3 года назад
You set the stop point when you’re initially setting it up, then it always stops there. And no, it’s controlled by its own RF remote, IR won’t work.
