Thank you. RV living is new to me. 3 months in and below zero weather. Froze my water. No propane, sick......etc. learning curve is tight. Bought 40lb exterior tank without knowing it wasnt just plug in and I'm good. Got it now.

Old school way of doing things and now wash your hands with hot water so you don't get any soap in your mouth or on your food and make you sick - safety first always

Is there a plug/cap to seal the end of the hose when taking the 5Gal tank in for filling that still allows the onboard tank to run the appliances without venting propane? Where woudl one find such a plug/cap?

Looks good, but is there a valve that you switch between the lines? I am just wondering if you are using the main tank, will the propane go out the hose of the external tank?

Thank you brother, the only valve that I have is the valve on the main tank and the valve on the portable tank. I turn the main tank valve off and use the portable tank most of the time. Hope you're doing well!

If you mean the portable tank hose leaking, I think the answer you wanted is while it is disconnected from the 20lb tank and tucked away, the hose likely has a valve and needs to be screwed on to the bottle to open and flow. While tucked away off of the bottle, it should not allow the main tank to continuously flow. I doubt you need to have a small tank attached to that hose to stop leaks.

some people say you should use propane tape on the connections? not on the flared ones but the other one? some say they do and some say they don't. Not sure what the answer is?
