Nice trick with the vacuum cleaner and the box for drilling your hole in the concrete.

Thanks Jimmy! This shopvac attachment (below) replaced the box. Maybe it'll come in handy for you. a.co/d/2zyul9g Thanks for watching. 😀

Where do you purchase different colors of PVC? Thank you!

does the pipe freeze in the winter ?

I know what I am doing, and have done at least a 1000 radon systems; and in my state the code requires a schedule 40 pipe!! So I don't think you should say "the guys that don't know what they are doing use the schedule 40 pipe" maybe your state codes are different

Hi , thanks for your video , I have a question , I want to evacuate my radon on the roof of the house , my pipe exhaust will be near the edge of the roof 2 feet above the roof, but I have a window on that side that is 3 feet below the exhausts pipe is this a problem ? will the radon come back down and re-enter the house ? Radon gas is heavier then the air I presume ?

Hi Alai, the system should exhaust either 10 feet away from a window OR 2 feet above a window. Looks like you are good to go. 😀

You evacuating really near a window is that all right ?

How does water stay out of stack. Probably a silly question
@radonman6800
@radonman6800 Год назад
It's a very common question. The answer is : that it doesn't! It's just like the plumbing pipes coming out of the roof of your home. water simply drains out under the slab of your home. no big deal. 😀

Did you measure the resulting radon level?

Hey Scott, just curious, what size drill bits do you use for your core drill when you penetrate subslab and the exterior of the home?

Great video. My question is if there are cracks in the slab, does all of this defeat the purpose as it pulls air through the cracks?
@radonman6800
@radonman6800 9 месяцев назад
Hi TG. Cracks in the slab can cause our radon systems to lose suction and not be as effective.

Before and after radon results?

He mentioned a level of 4.5 to start (above 4.0 which is why he is there) but yeah, he never told us what the result was.

Does the fan have to be outside of the house or can it be inside where it's protected from the elements? Also do you have to put a "hat" on the top of the pipe?
@radonman6800
@radonman6800 Год назад
In the USA, the fan is supposed to be mounted outside or in attics. The top of the pipe does not need to be covered. Thanks for watching!

Why do you use the thin PVC vs thick?
@radonman6800
@radonman6800 4 года назад
Hi Jeff. Ha! I totally regret making that comment. Since making this video, I have seen a competent mitigator or 2 using schedule 40 PVC throughout the system and things turned out fine. However, I still think the thin gauge looks cleaner and passes more easily as downspout at a glance. I also like the hubbed end at the top that can only be obtained with the thin gauge pipe.

This is the fifth right on video I watched and they all suck. Not one of them explains how to actually install it.

I think maybe you need to go back to radon mitigation school and learn again about the proper pipe and what they say about critter gaurds that are unnecessary
@radonman6800
@radonman6800 4 года назад
Hi Corey. Since you are so experienced and knowledgeable, perhaps YOU should actually create some content. Since there are so few out of the box videos from radon mitigators, we should be cheering each other on rather than nitpicking and slamming. My 30+ videos to date have helped people, and I've asked for nothing in return. Sorry you got your feelings hurt for something that I actually apologized for addressed IN THE ONLY OTHER COMMENT. Warm "regaurds," Scott, The Radon Man. PS. My customers love the peace of mind knowing nothing will block up their airflow by applying a critter/ leaf guard. One has nothing to lose by doing so.

This comment is so typical. Usually it comes from electricians that always insult people for doing things themselves. They think if you don't pay their exuberant prices you're an idiot. They never want to tell you what was done wrong, just that it sucks and you're a fu◇tard for not paying one of their cronies to do the job. Turns out running some Romex isn't rocket science. I've been doing my own electrical for years and never had an issue. It would be great to see people offer help to people instead of this childish behavior. Evidently the goobers in the radon business are just as big of sh•tbricks as those in the electrical trade.
