Great video. A point I want to highlight is that the salt free system only conditions the water in your pipes, not once it leaves your fixture. Meaning you will still will get residue on your fixtures and dishes.

The Springwell installalation video shows the sediment filter plumbed between the carbon filter and softener, whereas you plumbed the sediment filter in front of the carbon filter. Why did you plumb the sediment filter first?

@ThisGuyProductions
@ThisGuyProductions 2 года назад
Hey PHS Tutoring. The reliability of corrugated connectors is tied to the gaskets in them. Most connectors have a black rubberized gasket that may deteriorate over time in direct sunlight. This could cause them to eventually leak and require replacement. The good news is that replacing them is simple yet slightly costly. You can also find corrugated connectors with a plastic gasket that may do better in that scenario.

Hey buddy I have a question why is it in some of the videos for the same filters is the blue filter installed in between the tanks instead of before the tanks like you did it?
@ThisGuyProductions
@ThisGuyProductions 2 года назад
Hey Jorge. SpringWell reconfigured their systems because of people making mistakes during the installation. The carbon filter requires a good flush before installing it. The process requires the tank be filled with water using your hose. The tank then needs to sit for 48 hours. After the time passes the tank needs to be reconnected to your hose and flushed until the water runs clear. Anyhow, many customers skipped these important steps causing carbon sediment to flood their plumbing and fixtures. SpringWell reconfigured the sediment filter after the carbon filter to protect those folks. I have my sediment filter before the carbon tank and its great there. Its how it was originally designed.

Hey Yvonne. Yes, the system does use more water because of the backflush. My system regens about once a week using about 50 gallons of water. @ThisGuyProductions 2 года назад
Hey Legends Gaming Pizza, thanks for commenting. The system I installed was just under $1,000. To be totally transparent though, SpringWell did give me this system for free in order to be featured. They did give creative freedom to be honest. The Sediment filter removes particulates, the carbon filter removes chemicals like chlorine (like a scaled up Brita filter). So, you are basically getting what I referred to as "bottled water," our of your shower and faucets. Totally safe to drink. (Note that you really need to flush any tank for 5 to 10 minutes prior to installation). Eventually though, I upgraded to a salt based system. I went with their mid ranged system for "4 to 6" bathrooms. This time I paid for it. The improvement to water quality in my home is now maxed. That system runs just under $2,500, but it's benefitted me tremendously. Hope this helps.

@@timquicksell2726 Lugging salt can be a pain, but my wife is the boss when it comes to her water filtration. The salt free system is a dream, so please don't get me wrong. The salt based system has a tank with the resin and a head that monitors flow and triggers regen. Then it has a brine well next to it that houses the salt solution. Once the system uses a pre-set amount of water it will regen in the middle of the night. It basically flushes the salt water solution through the resin tank and removes all the sediment and build up extracted from the water it filtered. It will then backflush to clear out the salt. And the resin is good for another 1k gallons or so.

Hey Mg2361. They actually hired me to create their installation videos after I created this video. It has been a great relationship working with that team. They recently relocated the sediment filter to follow the carbon filter to assist with picking up the small amount of sediment that comes from the carbon filter after installation. Normally with the sediment filter first a small amount of black carbon will still show up in your plumbing for a few days. Relocating the filter will eliminate that and reduce concerns from customers. I personally still have the sediment filter first and havent had any issues.

Other time we get a reddish color and it's almost like our clay is in our water line. Our system also has no pre filter. We have very very hard water and we hoped the salt-base would resolve this too. Finally, what do you know about pelican vs spring well any difference or reason to go with 1 over the other?
@ThisGuyProductions
@ThisGuyProductions 2 года назад
Hey John, based off the issues you are seeing I wonder if your hardness setting in your tank head is correct? You may need to adjust that to regenerate your system more often to clear out any residue. I found that the sediment filter and carbon filter made a huge improvement. On another note I tell people to flush their tanks out prior to install. This also goes for the softener because there will be a ton of orangish sludge that will come out of it when you flush it. If not flushed it could potentially show up in your plumbing. You may also see it inside your toilet water tanks. The scale inside your toilet bowl and the film you are seeing is most likely buildup of small salt deposits. You May need to adjust your backwash time on the regen cycle to help clear out more salt. You will never get it all out, but it helps. I use CLR to break down the buildup in the toilet. Hope this helps.

Nope, the filter used to go there, but SpringWell changed the design because some customers weren't properly flushing the carbon filter for 48 hours. @@ThisGuyProductions my original comment was based on the fact that a p-trap needs to be filled with water to function. With your set set up at the end of the video, the open end of the drain will eventually allow the water in the trap to evaporate... hence... it needs to be capped.
