You're a pro, ready for RU-vid. Obviously I'm not, a lot of those quick removal bolts just don't like to oblige? I suggest for at least some owners to be prepared for a much longer and frustrating endeavor.
There is a bleeder screw by the thermostat housing -if you look carefully you'll detect that it is not part of the housing itself. Wear gloves when unscrewing it as the coolant will be really hot and it's hard to get back in while getting scalded, works better than burping the hoses. There is also a drain plug on the front of the block as only a portion of the coolant will be evacuated through the radiator drain cock, but many advise against going after that on such an old car (it's by the o2 sensor, a female square socket bolt I think) Does anyone know if the tensioner pulley needs to be loosened to work the front tensioner screw?
- hi great vid.. i have a nissan almera 1.8 in sweden, the belt is squelling a bit but i am unsure if its serpentine or power steering bely, they are 2/3 yr old belts ....they look ok a bit dry though. today i sprayed belt grip on them and squeal has gone but my question is is it ok to tighten the belt or should i just replace them
I have the same car, if the belts are in good condition you don't have to replace them. On this car the belts have to be pretty f#cking tight, otherwise you get squealing. So don't be afraid to put some pressure on them. If they still squeal, replace them.
Water pump needs replaced because it pumps your engine coolant. A bad water pump will cause overheating, both small and large coolant leaks, and inevitably total death of your engine if not replaced immediately.
This video imparts some questionable advice... I would NOT use emory cloth to clean the gasket surfaces... and I would NOT use any sealer on the gasket, UNLESS the surface is pitted/corroded/scratched or otherwise imperfect.
