Great video! Exactly what I needed. One thing though, always in the past on different vehicals, I’ve always replaced the fan clutch at the same time, many parts places sell them together like a kit I suppose. A bad fan clutch will murder your new water pump rapidly I’ve discovered in the past. Thanks again for the procedures for this!

The almost perfect video 9.5/10. Spay a little penetrating oil on the bolts an hour before to make sure no bolts are seized up. My 5.0L Explorer has 175k miles on hèŕ. Lots of time for thread locking corrosion to hapen. Otherwise a very helpful video. Excellent to point out old antifreeze. Have you even seen a dog die from drinking antifreeze? Not a preety scene when you dont know its happened. Ethylene glycol is a toxic, colorless, odorless, almost nonvolatile liquid with a sweet taste that is sometimes accidentally consumed by children and animals due to its sweetness. Following ingestion the symptoms of poisoning progress from signs similar to intoxication and vomiting; to hyperventilation, metabolic acidosis, and cardiovascular dysfunction; and finally acute kidney failure. Save that fluid you drain no matter how rusty is is.

Got done and water pump was leaking out the side a little. Instead of taking back off and starting over I tried to tighten bolt. It broke off below the hole and it’s one that goes in block. Learn from my pain. If it’s Leaking start over.

so turning the heater on gets the air out of the coolant system? theres not bleeder?

what do you do if one or two water pump bolts are obviously going to break before they loosen?

What gasket sealer should i use? (if any)

So these pumps typically come with one gasket already installed on it with the backing plate and a couple bolts. A terrible design imho. Seems to me that proper procedure would be to disassemble and seal that gasket and reassemble with those bolts properly torqued. Or join the long list of people who found out after doing the replacement that those bolts weren't even tight and the new pump leaks from that gasket which may not be useable at this point.

Could I have someone give me a list of tools used? I know you've got fancy stuff but I just need to know the tools I need so I can getrdone
