www.greatrailin... How to install Aluminum railing posts to a deck. The same the Aluminum post can mount to concrete or stone. Easy to install posts and railings
The deck posts I bought already have the base flange welded on. I don't like the idea of an extra set of lag bolts. These things can rust and dissolve the aluminum. I bought 5/16 in by 4 inch lag screws, coated, and bought nylon washers with a shoulder. So I put the nylon washer on the post flange hole and the shoulder of the washer fits into the hole. Then when I screw in the lag screw it is not touching the aluminum. They don't sell aluminum screws because they are too weak so you have to buy the plated steel screws. Steel and aluminum don't go together. Also Stainless steel can cause failures. I saw him putting in a lot of screws into the post and I don't like that.
