You can’t, it’s specifically a smart thermostat that’s intended to be integrated into the Amazon Alexa you should already have. If you don’t want to use it with WiFi, save yourself some money and buy a regular Honeywell or something. Cheers!

this is great and probably works in 90% of applications, but here in the northeast, we have gas boilers and baseboard heat which means no control board at the boiler(instead we have an Aquastat). In my application, the smart thermostat will be controlling both the heat and the AC (R1&C used). I have extra wires (3) coming to the thermostat and a 24v transformer near by boiler, the question is where to connect the 24v to the device?

okay, how do I know if will this work with a gas boiler that I'm going to buy? If I do not have a gas boiler or thermostat how do I know do I have C wire as you talk about? right now at this moment I don't have a gas boiler and I don't have an existing thermostat so I'm going to purchase these two products how do I know will this thermostat work or is compatible with a gas boiler? and one more question because this product is for the USA market will it work with gas boilers outside of the United States let's say European products mainly I'm mostly talking about Italian brands Fondital and Ariston I assume maybe you are not familiar with these kinds of products because Market differences and Country but maybe you heard about this product and you have a piece of information are they compatible or not?

I want to hook up just a Central A/C unit to my thermostat. I only have 2 wires coming to my existing thermostat, a red and a white wire. I am using a transformer to replace the c-wire. So I believe I would hook up the transformer to the RC & C plugs, and as for the existing 2 wires that I currently use, I would connect the Red wire to the R plug, and the White wire to the Y plug. Is that correct?

I had the smart thermostat installed and it worked fine - until my modem went out. I tried to get it set up with the new modem with NO luck. I even bought a replacement thermostat, and it won't connect either. I am now at the point where neither of the faceplates wiil light up, so I am now without heat. I've double checked the wiring, and it is correct (it worked fine before the modem problem) Amazon tech support was absolutely NO help at all, and simply said they would send me a new thermostat (supposed to arrive this morning,, but did not come, but it still has not arrived).

I read an article that says having smart thermostats that turn heat up and down, same with ac, actually uses more energy. Article said to set a temp that you can be comfortable with all day and night. Furnace and ac work harder to bring temps up and down constantly.
@njboesman
@njboesman Год назад
Don't believe everything you read, what credible source said this ? Imagine you are traveling during the summer and you set your thermostat to 85 as not to waste energy. Now you can turn it down to 72 12 hours before you're coming home. Same in winter, keep house @ 55 while away, turn to 72 before coming home. At work and no one home, same thing....I must disagree with what you read
@43wagonwheel
@43wagonwheel Год назад
@@njboesman The units use more energy to bring temps up or down depending on the season. They work harder and longer to get where you set them. I did an experiment and noticed it took more therms to get my heat set from a 62-degree setting compared to leaving it at 74 all the time.
@njboesman

@@43wagonwheel I think there are a lot of variables to consider here. Clearly, these save energy in most cases otherwise why would utility companies be giving rebates?

yeah there's a MASSIVE number of variables that might make that true or untrue, starting with type of furnace/AC, going right down to the construction of your home (my last place was on a slab with no underlayment under the laminate! yikes!). ymmv.

You need the blue or C-wire to power the thermostat with. Most modern furnaces have a "C" terminal on the board in the unit, so you just need 5-conductor thermostat wire. Or you can purchase a C-wire adapter from Honeywell. The C wire provides the 24VAC current to the device.

Same. I have a pretty standard setup, moving from a Honeywell (non-heat pump) to this Alexa. My Honeywell has the R to Rc jumper, so on the Alexa, I only connected to the R. Unit says it's cooling, but house kept getting warmer, even after an hour. I put the Honeywell back on until I can work this out.
@TheRainMustFall
@TheRainMustFall 2 года назад
This is my exact problem. RC to RH jump on the old thermostat. On the old thermostat there was no yellow, but the C wire was wired to the yellow terminal. Installed the Amazon thermostat without the jump and it only recognized heat on the app. Took the plate off and put a jump from R to RC, but it was damned tight. I can't tell if my jump was bad due to the crowding, or if it is absolutely necessary to have a yellow for it to work (which didn't seem necessary on the old Honeywell. Still don't know the purpose of wiring the C to the otherwise unused yellow terminal on the old unit). At any rate, the house was sweltering and so I reconnected the old unit and everything works again. If anyone has found a workaround I'd be interested.

I keep getting provisioning error 3:5:0:1 (even though when I google this all results are for smart plug). It has been unconnected from wifi for months although we could use it manually. We've tried reconnecting many times. Today I did the hard reset, but I'm still getting this provisioning error (now I can't even use the thermostat :-( !). It won't let me type the wifi password, it is only giving me option to click the one already associated with my alexa account. The only thing that I am doing differently is I no longer I have the QR code (I can't find an image of it anywhere) so I am trying to connect with bluetooth. Should I try to get rid of my Wifi settings for all Alexa? Does anyone have the manual where they could share the QR code?

No one explains anything anymore.... So here Red is your power around 27vac Green is your fan relay White is your heat control Yellow is your cooling compressor. Think of it like a switch to turn on your fan, ac unit or heater. The blue wire or C. Is your common or neutral wire... This is for your thermostat to work. You need this to complete the circuit. The other wires are just switches
