I struggled for five hours trying to install a new door closure before I watched your video and then within 15 minutes I was finished and now it works perfectly! Thank you very very very much!!
this is the clearest and best video on this subject. I found the instructions that came with my door closer completely impossible to understand and so had to rely on videos to get it installed. I found the whole process horribly difficult but I got there in the end. THANKS !
My door closer is identical. My instructions in Chinglish are also identical, except that there were no dimensions or measurements printed on mine! Thanks so much. I don't often get stumped, but this one had me.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. I've been watching tons of videos and reading lots of stuff online and finally I figured it out thanks to your amazing and simple demo... much appreciated!
Really helped me wrap my head around it. It's quite simple once you understand it, but a little intimidating to begin with. Thanks for the comprehensive and concise video.
Thank you. I had to throw one of these on for first time in a long time at my job site last Friday and I was over tired and completely messed it up. Watching your video helped me figure out exactly where I went wrong.
If you're in the UK, this particular door closer is the "Asec VT10055 size 3 contract door closer c/w cover in silver". Mine came with no detailed instruction, so this video saved the day.
great information bro, i tried to install last nite, after that my door can't open. will continue tonight after watch this great information. thanks anyway
Thanks a lot my brother for your perfect explanation. The first door closer fits without looking to the instructions cuz it’s written in your own mother language not English or Italian only one language .... any way also I have watched some video. Thanks again,, you have a gift which is you can deliver your idea simply with blest Confidence to my mind and other people as well. Lectures and doctors in unis unfortunately 10% of them has this confidence and only talking into the main steps pla pla pla hahaha ,,, too much words. Many thanks from Saudi Arabia to you and everyone here watching. Sultan
Thank you for your excellent tutorial specifically with the dimensions from the edge of the door. Since I seem to have the exact same model, but in another country, I can now confidently install my door closer tomorrow morning 👍
tnx 4 vid , had lots of complications , instructions had wrong size schematic , door was hollow metal , had to drill each side seperately , using one through the door hole to use as reference for other side , had to use actual part for pattern layout , had to get special low profile flat nuts and bolts to bolt to door , ate up much time , no convience at all , never do again on a exterier metal door 👎🔨🔩🔧
Hi, I wish the workman I used to fit my door closer had seen this - He's been around twice now and it's still not installed properly, It's a Smith & Locke Series 3 Overhead door closer
Did you have any problem with the auto door mechanism hitting the brick wall? Would it still work if you moved it slightly more toward the door opening to avoid the brick wall? or just door stopper on the wall or floor?
no there is sufficient clearance by the brick wall. You have some room to shift the door opener left or right, keeping in mind that shifting too much will limit the range of opening.
dont understand your question. There is no door stopper in this installation. The video shows that the unit has two speeds and slows towards the final few degrees of movement. The stopping of the door is caused by the door frame as usual.
Korpus samozamykacza przy maksymalnym otwarciu drzwi uderza o siane. Da się to tak zrobić by nic nie uderzało o siane i jednocześnie samozamykacz działał jako ogranicznik .
You put it upside down.... Closer mounts to frame and arm attaches to door. Oh, I see it wouldn't mount that way with the brick and the closer....ya ya....I see it now....Is that your Wine Cellar??
Who is the manufacturer of your door closer & what is the model number? I think I may need one soon and I like the one you put up on your door. Thanks!
@@luciameanos3691 if your closer has a power adjustment then adjust the closer to a lower power also if your closer does not have that then re mount the body and shoe closer to the hinge
Mine is a brand new unit and won't shut if door open past 70 degrees. Door can only be opened to 90 degrees so almost all good. How do you adjust this part? The two screws on the end of the unit do not change this area
it may be that you have installed the arm already past the mid point of the travel. The screws affect the travel speed at different arm positions. Please check your arm when its disconnected from the door. It should not be highly loaded when does is closed.
It’s because your door closer has a hold open, look on the instructions of there are any adjustments on the arm, otherwise your closer would be internal hold open and the only way to make the closer hold open further is the remount the door closer body and shoe closer to the hinge.
Lucia. Remember that it’s a hydraulic adjustment And you don’t want the end of the screw to protrude outside of the casing or the pin will shoot out and the oil will come out of the closer.
Tension ? What UTTER Bollocks. Those two screws (there) at 5:58 do absolutely NOTHING for spring tension. All they "DO" - is alter the needle-nozzle openings in the oil-ways, to allow a quicker or SLOWER movement of oil from the pistons inside the unit - to enable the user to choose the speed the oil is allowed to PASS these two adjuster screws, so that you either have a SLOW door sweep (closing) action &/or a door LATCHING speed. They do absolutely nothing other than open or close off, an oilway.
Sorry, the arm should not look that way and that product is ultra cheap rubish. If you want a door closer, buy a Tjss, Geze or Dorma and let it install by a pro. One leg of the arm - depends on the brand and product - ALWAYS stands in a 90 degree angle to the door / frame. Otherwise the closer don‘t work how he should because the adjustements don‘t react on the same point. Better: don‘t install it self. There are too many models for too many specific door situations. (Mounted on the side against the hinches, mounted on wide or thick or both doors, mounted in the steelframe.....) A course for pro‘s at one of the market leaders takes a full day. For a not pro, it is not possible, to find the right closer type for a specific door.
