How To Install An "IKEA BEHJALPLIG" Sliding Hinge On Bosch, Neff or Siemens Integrated Dishwasher 

Thank you, without your video I probably would never know about this system. Saved me from a lot of problems. Update : I had 145 mm distance from the bottom for a Bosch dishwasher and that is not mentioned in the manual. I used the 135 mm holes and everything is fine.

Sensational video! Tip for those who like me have a taller than A point on the little metal measuring thing (ABC..), just make sure your dishwasher is as flush as possible with the countertop and use the highest possible option ("A" in this case), even if your measurement is higher. Worked for me with a Beko dishwasher that was +22mm higher.

Awesome video, gives you so much more confidence than the printed instructions. I just installed this with a Bosch series 4 replacing the Ikea dishwasher that died in our Ikea kitchen. Extra tips would be to emphasize that you need to install the dishwasher 1-2cm deeper when using this as it is a extra layer between the panel and the dishwasher, and also clearer directions on the last step with the two white clips to prevent the door from popping out of the clips on the installed bar at the bottom. Total lifesaver video. Thanks so much!

I had this device installed by a third party company, they did an awful job. I realized today that they installed the large plastic piece out of track, they never read the instructions. I managed to disassembly it and do it correctly thanks to your video! thank you so much!

The staff at my ikea didn't know it existed. Even though they had 140 in stock. Recommended an alternative of €110 from another reseller. During the kitchen planning nobody mentioned anything about this problem. They only put 'old dishwasher at consumers own risk' in the order confirmation. After I searched the Internet I found out about the sliding hinge. After seeing your video I found the behalpjig hinge at the ikea. Had to Google it because I couldn't find it on the ikea site. Thanks a lot for saving me €60 and making it easy to install.

Thank you for this video!! We've just used it to install our new Bosch dishwasher. The Behjalplig is a slightly different shape now and it didn't line up with the dishwasher door screws, but we just drilled new holes into the Behjalplig panels and it's worked fine. As below, our dishwasher was also approx 145mm at the bottom but the 135mm holes have worked fine. Thanks again.

ikea support told me there was no other solution other than to cut the door down to 720mm to fit a hotpoint dishwasher. Only by luck I came across thr behjalplig hinge , great that a video exists and saves the hour you need to fathom out their awful instruction sheet, thank you

So finally plucked up the courage to fit the door slider, using your video it was quite an easy task ! The door woods were a slightly different shape but I guess a couple of years has passed since your video was shot apart from that it was exactly as you showed….quite chuffed, enjoy the coffee !

Thanks for making this. Just off to get one, the only suitable alternative is about £110-130. I was scratching my head big time with the door fouling the base of the dishwasher. It’s silly that the Ikea kitchen planners aren’t advising on this. My guy was useless.

Great tutorial, thank you for all the little tips and tricks! I found myself in the situation where the whole kitchen was already built up, everything else was mounted in place and the dishwasher front was stopping the dishwasher from opening all the way up, so I found this video which was really helpful for finding a solution for my problem, but the more recent problem is that Ikea doesn't build or supplies this sliding adapter set anymore, so if you're lucky enough like me you will still br able to find this adapter on eBay or Facebook marketplace, but just a heads up, you won't be able to buy it anymore in Ikea, at least not in Germany. It's quite sad because when planing and buying your Ikea kitchen there are no such warnings or "heads up" that the front won't match other dishwashers other than the ones solyby Ikea, it would have been of great help to have known this before I bought and installed my new kitchen. Once again thank you for your help and good luck with your future projects!

For future users of IKEA Behjalplig sliding hinge :) The way he installed those plastic sliders with rotating wheels is wrong (11:55). They should be installed opposite than he did. The height-adjusting wheel should be at the bottom of panel. With this way of mounting (as the original IKEA instruction says - it is with mistake) the front panel will be sliding down everytime because of weight and you won't be able to adjust it properly.

IKEA doors are longer than standard doors and for that reason the rails of the hing are longer. Make sure that you know the dimensions before you go and purchase it.

I’ve got round to fitting mine. Regarding the two side screws on the dishwasher door. That wasn’t sturdy enough for me. The manual seems to skip using the original attachment lugs that the door would usually hang from, I didn’t see you acknowledge it either (when you mentioned nearly bashing the counter with the clamps. I took a punt on attaching the lugs that slot into my door and it’s a lot firmer fitting to the dishwasher now. I can’t see how those two thin screws would last long term. Maybe I missed something.

Very helpful. Wondering if you have the same problem as us with this after 8 months of so of use. Because the two inner verticals are only screwed on half way up the dishwasher door, we are finding that there is too much flex and the door comes away from the dishwasher a little bit with every opening - it’s not damaged yet, but all feels quite cheap. I’m concerned that that is only going to cause real problems over time, and am probably going to make two little U shaped clamps or bends of metal to grip the slider mechanism too the dishwasher itself

The distance of the opened door to the bottom of the cabinet in my case is about 150mm, do you know if that means I should use "A" on the tool, or is 135mm meant to be the maximum? I.e. that would imply the hinge won't work for my model (a Beko).

At the end of the video you mentioned after fitting in the system and the door, the whole thing wasn't in line with the other cabinets but that we can push it back until it sits flushed with the rest of them. When you push it back did you also had to move the horizontal bar that you installed at the beginning? What steps would you recommend in order to avoid mistakes and installing it correctly from the beginning? Thanks!

Man thanks so much for the video. Got everything done but for some reason my rotating bar at bottom keeps popping out of holes. Really sucks cos I thought I had everything perfect and this mechanism is really bad as it does not push very hard to to the side cabinet.

Love what you're doing here. Thank you for posting this. Would you please measure the distance that the sliding mech uses from the inside of the cabinet door to the front face of the dishwasher? I've only got a max of 9mm to move it back further. I could cope with a 1mm protrusion but much more than that and it will look wrong! I can't see the thickness it needs on the Ikea website either, so really hoping you can help! Cheers

As a Swede it's always fun to hear non-Swedish people pronounce Swedish words. But it's also kind of strange that IKEA use Swedish words. Anyway, the word "BEHJÄLPLIG" means helpful and the H is silent.

You might Just have saved my weekend! I have a question, will this not make the kitchen door further out in the room so it is unaligned with the other fronts? With this system in between there has to be some ekstra space? If you understand what I mean

Secondly: I bought a second hand sliding mechanism and it came without the installation metal guide for holes. A,B,C,D,E. They changed the design, or it is not the same around the world. The one I got is in plastic and is very flumsy. Only one screw in the middle of the dishwasher to hold it is def not enough. They didn't update the manual and tell us to put only 1 screw and that's really not ok. They also say to check the manual of the dishwasher itself to know if you can drill through it but it is not mentionned in the Ikea dishwasher bought at the same time ...

May I please ask, as you mentioned at the end of the video the door can stick out because of the sliding hinge mechanism, however I have no more space behind the dishwasher to push it further back so is there any other way around the door sticking out? I want the door to be flush or in line with the other cabinets. Thank you :)

One screw isn't enough for mine.. It's some sort of a plastic frame that we have and screws don't hold

Thanks so much for producing this video, it was most helpful. However, having (I thought) completed the installation for my dishwasher, the door has now fallen off for the following reasons: 1. The strips down each side of the face of the dishwasher are only fixed with 1 screw on each side, in the middle, as per the Ikea instructions,; the L shaped metal strip which holds the 2 strips in place across the top has no attachment to the face of the dishwasher. Consequently, it pulls away as the door is opened. 2. The above adds stress to the 2 screws retaining the strips and because the screws are not long enough the whole thing just pulled off. Looks like I will have to find longer screws and also use these to screw the side strips to the top of the face of the dishwasher. This assumes that I can remove the factory installed screws to do so. Unless I have made a silly mistake I felt others should be aware of this potential problem. Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated.

Hi mate, when you pushed the dishwasher back to have everything flush, was it just the top that needed adjusting? I take it it was already flush on the bottom due to it being located with the steel rod?

23:20 what if those wheels aren't strong enough to keep the door in place? I have an IKEA kitchen I have just bought (1 month) and the door keep sliding down for about 1 centimeter despite using said wheels for trying to fix it

Thx for the great video. Just one question. Those brownish plastic thingies on the back of the door. You need to screw them down on both side right? That’s not really obvious from the manual and unfortunately you are going over this pretty quickly, too
