Printing is too small. I’ve been struggling for hours with this unit to get it to connect. Why are all of the tp-link products so difficult to connect? Gurrr!
There is missing guide for setup 3G/4G connection. Or do I missed something in video? Understood that should be part of Hotspot settings, but there is only wifi connectivity mentioned.
@Jay W how do you set it up if you don't have any other internet access other than the hotspot...I went round and round with tech support the other day and got soooo frustrated I was ready to se d it back..
I found a video by "The Teacher" on connecting cell to router...he's using a TP-Link. Best video I have found. It's called "How to share & connect 3G/4G mobile hotspot to Wifi router tutorial. He's kind of hard to understand but i.put on CC and watched it over several times. (More to get used to his accent) I'm going to try it tomorrow.
How do we connect to a hotel WiFi with no ethernet connection to provide the required name and room number? The documents breezily say "connect" without dealing with a WiFi source. I try to avoid carrying a notebook with ethernet, and travel light with a Android phone and Chromecast when I go to a hotel. The Chromecast is to watch Netflix etc. The Chromecast needs to be connected to WiFi and so a connection like tp-link's Kasa series would be very useful. However, Tether does NOT pass through the hotels credentials from my phone like Kasa, and the router will not allow connection unless it has a source internet. So it appears that I need to carry a notebook purely to configure the router, and then the router is pointless as this need can be met by Windows 10 WiFi sharing. Have I wasted my money?
Did you ever get an answer to your question? I wanted to use Chromecast at a hotel too, but I'm experiencing the same obstacle. Everywhere I have read they breeze over connecting to the router, but there's no explanation as to how if you do not have an ethernet connection.
I cannot seem to get set this device to work on hotspot share using either of my phone's hotspot on T-Mobile or Visible although it says "congratulations" when I configure the connection. What am I missing?
I am curious about the set-up procedure on my cruise ship, specifically regarding any of my devices using a VPN. Do I need to turn the VPN off during the initial set-up of the device? And, if so, will everything work with the VPN activated again, once the connection is made?
I am not able to get to the hotel wifi authentication page. This used to be possible on TL-WR802N with hotspot mode but not possible on TL-WR902AC. I only have available my apartment hotel wifi as a connection, any suggestion?
I have the same question, I can't work my Huawei 4G modem, I have connection but no Internet access, and if conect the modem usb direct to the pc work perfectly.
I would have liked to see more about the Guest Network and Parental Controls. Sadly, the descriptions are hard to read and after 4 hours, I am growing really tired of the system. It just won't work ...
I just got this router thru Amazon...This tutorial is next to useless, cannot read anything because it is so blurry. I have a phone I want to use as my house internet through this router. Which mode do I use? I can't figure it out. It comes up on my computer but says it is not connected. I want to use my phone's hotspot as my internet connection throughout my house. Can you tell me how...which mode...connecting the router to the phone or phone to router??
@@Kumar-re5wv i believe thats not possible. 5ghz and 2.4 ghz is a bandwidht that we get from our providers, so it depends. what you get, what you can further spread (transmit) .. but i believe this device is more of a connection/intermediator ,and it helps in communicating from one device to another. as far as speed and bandwidht is concerned that depends directly on what is being given by your internet provider. hope this helps
@@brioche7593 I bought it and I can confirm that yes, it can. You just configure it as Wisp client and connect it to the open wifi as client. Then with your phone, connect to the private wifi that creates the device and from the phone, auhtenticate with the web interface. From now on, all devices connectwd to the private wifi can use internet
@@brioche7593 And I had it running for 2 weeks non-stop in summer with no problem, it is not super-hot and the internet works perfect with no lag. It is worth specially for the cheap price!
A router is a network device that serves two primary functions: (1) it connects multiple computers, phones, tablets, or other devices to form a managed local area network, and (2) it provides Internet access to all of the compatible devices that are connected to the router. An access point is a wireless network device that acts as a portal for devices to connect to a local area network. Access points are used for extending the wireless coverage of an existing network and for increasing the number of users that can connect to it.
This may sound silly but I'm a dinosaur - I want to use this on vacation, Can I do the set-up at home and then just key in the hotel wifi info when I get to the hotel?
hello, I have an issue with my, I just purchased one on amazon(refurbished) sold by Tp-Link and it does not come with the 8 digits password card (Wifi Card info) so I was trying to use the back label password "admin" but the wifi password can't be less than 8 digits so I tried a factory reset the device but after that still asking for 8 digits password and it was not included in the box, so is there a way to fix this?
Can you configure different SSIDs and password per mode, or the SSID and password you configured in one mode stays the same when switching to other modes?
i need for the Hotspot scenario since My accommodation has a login wifi. So i have been given a username and password. Not just a password. What do i do???
Already sent question to tech support, but will also ask here - is it possible to get Internet from 4G modem plugged to USB and access it from Ethernet?
I thought I had at least the minimum savy necessary( after all I have installed memory, drives, configured printers, partitioned drives, installed several linux distros) to install this thing but the truth is I have failed. I have watched every youtube video on how to install it and despite showing on my computer that it is connected I cannot access the internet. I hereby am crying UNCLE! ..yes I am giving up and returning it.
I want to use this as a travel router. Can I just transfer some internet into the thing from my home? (Plug in an ethernet and install like 100gb of internet and then use that on travel.)
Bad product! Admin webpage is extremely slow and wifi disconnects after 1 minute or so. It does not detect 5g Wifi to as Extender. I would send the product back but no time left before leaving. I had other products from TP-Link. This is the worst sofar.
And step 3 (at 10:14) is exactly where everything goes wrong. If you're trying to setup your wired (only) device via the client mode, how are you possibly going to connect wirelessly? If an Ethernet outlet is available, you wouldn't need wireless. Everything after that is useless. You'll never get to the TP-Link website. 👎
