For the monitor tab to work you will have to get the license or Eval License. Now if you are using an unlicensed firewall then you can check in the session browser for the active session.

For the evaluation license you will have to mail the PaloAlto team. Or else you can use the trail version on any cloud vendor like AWS or Google cloud to test the features of PALO ALTO.

hi zab, iam facing a issue, my vm is not able to ping palo-alto and palo-alto is not able to ping vm. They both are in same network 192.168.10.x. Please help me what may be blocking traffic.

I would suggest to check your virtual network editor settings under the edit menu and make sure your wifi adaptor is selected under the Bridged to section of the VMnet0 adaptor. If you are not able to see the vmnet 0 in the list make sure you click on the change settings in the bottom right to get the VMnet0 in the list.

i can see the interface in gui but it is in red colour that means it is down. can i install two paloalto i tried installing another instance of one more VM but i am not able to access the second GUI. i have given an ip of 192.168.62.10 to my first firewewall and 192.168.62.11 to my second firewall. I have selected vmnet0 in the VM settings. please suggest

my second Link State is red. I tried to change the Ips but it doesn't work. I used the second one for the gateway, mine is 192.168.1.200/24 and didnt work

If you are using another interface as Outside/Untrust then you have to change the mappings of the VM as well (VMnets).

I have set up the lab successfully according this video but when I shut down the guest devices in VM Ware and started Palo alto image again. I tried to ping from my local host to palo alto mgmt ip and vice-versa. I am facing " device host unreachable" . I tried everything and also tried to set up the lab many times but now it is showing same error. Pls help me to get this resolve.

Make sure the settings in your virtual network editor under bridged to has the Wifi adaptor selected if you are on wifi and if you are on ethernet then choose the ethernet adptor don't keep it automatic

Check the network adaptor setting in the VMware workstation edit network option. You have to change the adaptor if you are using the wifi or ethernet accordingly.

You need to wait for the FW to initialize and then enter the credentials. Depends on the system config sometime you have to wait long after starting the VM.

It takes time for the palo alto processes to initialize wait for 20-30 minutes and try the admin/admin creds it will work

You have to specifiy the source if you aretrying to ping from PA CLI. make sure you are doing that. " Ping source "S-IP" host "D-IP"

you will have to wait for 5-10 minutes depending on the hardware that you have for the firewall to initialize. the credentials are admin/admin

For the password you have to wait for a time to be accepted, otherwise it says Wrong password. Before setting the management ip you have to type "Set device config system type static" before setting the ip in order to be commited successfully. Otherwise the change is not accepted
