Well hello! James and Sarah here, dipping in with an extra episode in our van build series. Here’s the never seen before footage of us installing our campervan wifi.
It's a super simple setup and works really well. Plus we’ve lived in our van for over a year now, and given we work online, can 100% vouch for how reliable our campervan internet actually is.
The SIM we are currently using here in the UK is with VOXI (vodafone). It’s a no contract SIM so you can cancel it anytime and we have the unlimited data plan which costs £35 per month.
If you don’t need so much internet allowance, the other deals (8/15/45GB) they do are great too because social media use, Netflix, RU-vid, Prime Video and Spotify streaming doesn’t count towards data usage. In the UK that is. Europe is a different story!

How is the Puck antenna in the rural areas? Did you get to try? I think its mainly for urban areas where frequencies are higher but not so good for low frequencies that are used in rural places.

Thanks so much, honestly the van just wouldn’t have got built without Sar (J here), the electrics were way over my head and I agree it’s important to change the narrative. Ady is getting more vocal every day! We’ve passed on the hugs as always 😊😊😊 xx

Did you actually need to drill a 20mm hole of you wasn't needing the threaded length? Couldn't you just have stuck the puck down without the need of the threaded section? Then just drill alot small hole for the cable?

Awsome guys. A need get finger out way my build. Diesel heater next waiting on a frend to let me use his garage to do it. Then it just wirring and re assembly time.

The diesel heater shouldn’t be too difficult and it’s an absolute essential at this time of year!! Sounds like the build is coming on nicely 👍

@@TheWholeWorldorNothing am copying use for were the heater is going but only am dropping the tank and fitting the fuel line into it. Just bit crap weather to do on the road ats all

Hey guys, hope you are both well and aidy is loving van life too. Just to fill you in….. I used your link from your blog to get the router and when it turned up there was no where to plug in the wires! Anyway I contacted the eBay seller and they asked me to send it (at my own expense 😩) back but said they don’t do the one with the antenna inlet. Sooo next I tried to order on Amazon instead and got exactly the same again even though on the picture it showed the inlet where the aerials plug in. So I rang Amazon and they gave a full refund and collected free of charge 👍🏻 anyway long story short we’ve got all the antenna etc sorted but I just can’t bring myself to order another one for it to turn up as the wrong router! Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Jennie, Nick & Luna xx

Ok we’ve had a look into it and think the product must have been changed. The link we used was from our own order we made from Amazon and when we’ve just been back on it goes through to a listing which explicitly says the product has no ports when ours most definitely does. Having looked into the Customer Questions on the listing as well, it appears that while older answers say that it does have antenna ports, newer ones suggest it doesn’t. We can only apologise for this and say thanks for bringing it to our attention. We’re gonna have to do a bit more digging to find out whether the product has changed and perhaps find a similar alternative. With the eBay link, can you please let us know where you found that? We only had a link to Amazon on the blog as far as we’re aware. So sorry about all this! We’re trying our best to figure out what’s happened xx

I got the two mixed up, I remember going to your blog and being directed to the Amazon link and me trying to be “cheap” looked for one a little cheaper and that’s what I found and ordered via eBay which then turned up and I had a “I told you to order it from the link” from my other half which is what I then went on to do and obviously that arrived without the ports too 😩 anyway when I rang and spoke to Amazon I told them that on the images on the listing it shows the little section at the bottom of the router which is what makes it different to the one without! (Apologies for the long story 🙄) anyway the lady at Amazon was really apologetic and advised that she would pass it on to a team that deals with the images that are put on the listing because she saw it as false advertising, and what’s even more annoying when I purchased the router via Amazon it actually has a section that says “usually bought with” that suggested I get the aerial 🙄 everything pointed at it being the correct router but like I say it seems to be a series of bad luck 🙄🤣 sooo if you happen to find an alternative then give me a shout, we now have an aerial fitted on the roof with wires into the van but no router 🙈 I’m dreading ordering another one myself 🤣 thanks again guys I’m sure we will have lots of ups and downs to come, we are currently at the stage of having to sort all the wiring which is what I’ve taken on so I need to go back to school (scroll the internet) and learn all over again 😩 xx

Aha got it. Yeah even on the images still shown on Amazon you can clearly see the ports so we’re not sure why the product has changed. Having done some research online it looks like it’s HUAWEI the manufacturer who have altered it. We’re still looking into an alternative and will update once we find something. So sorry that this has happened, it’s such a mystery as to why they’ve done that! Xx

Why are you so hateful James and Sarah are amazingly helpful and lovely people and they explained what happened above. Be grateful to have been shown how to install such a kit for free in the first place I would not have a clue what to do without them. They are also making a loss from affiliate sales due to the fact that the kit has been discontinued... I hope you get better soon.
