Looks great. Consider sealing the cut-out opening with some resin just to make sure moister/water was not an issue for longevity.

That console is like working with a blank canvas and that Preferred Marine Tec does clean & pretty work! Looks great so far, it's like a teaser video so you have to tune in to see what's next. I also have the Simrad EVO 3 16" down below and a 9" screen on my upper helm, I also went with HALO 5G radar and the AP44 controller for my autopilot. The only thing I was thinking mainly because I just did this a few months ago would be to black the console out with acrylic, it gave my 2008 Bluewater 2550 a whole new look. Congrats Mike, your boat is SO SICK!

I dig the cleanliness of the console. I put stock in how I feel in my boat too so I would have probably put 2 screens and filled up the console more with stuff just because I think it looks cool as hell! I can’t wait for this thing to be done and for you and Val to get it back on the water!

Love the boat and simple console layout. Can’t wait for the next episode. Been having serious boat and fishing withdrawals up here in New England. These episodes have helped me stay sane in between below freezing temps and snow storms. Keep em coming!

I've stuck with this build from DAY 1. Impressed with all the tradesmen and the quality of work they all have done. The boat is beautiful! Very jealous. I am restoring an older Grady White 24' Caribbean. I am also going with a new engine bracket from a company down in FLA... they do it best in FLA. Electronics.... I like you am leaning towards SIMRAD. Sheesh, I would love to get the big screen like you but sadly I will need to go juuuuust a little bit smaller. I am looking forward to you showing us how that SIMRAD works while fishing. Congratulations!

Hi Mike, just replaced the electronics on my Boston Whaler, I went with Lowrance HDS12 on the dash supported with an HDS9 on the hardtop wired into the 4G radar. What makes all this work is the Ethernet hub and network, I can run any screen on either of the HDS units and I often mix and match depending on circumstances. I run a single total scan hard wired to the 12” but the 9” can also act as the sounder if required. Whichever unit I run in chart if I flag a point of interest it automatically appears on the other unit. Awesome redundancy and usability, I love it.....👍

Capt Mike awesome choice on the electronics. That is going to be really nice. If I was a Captain I'd be afraid of a single unit only because if it goes down like you mentioned it was hard to find the unit to begin with so you may be running without electronics for a little while if that happens. I feel your pain on this build, I bought a Rambo in Oct 2019, getting a total re engineer and rehab, and I am finally about 2 weeks from it being done. It's such a process working with small shops and it's been amazing to me how busy they have stated throughout a pandemic. Tight lines!

Console is awesome and what I want mine to be. Fun fact, the reason he ran the drill backwards with a larger bit is so that when he runs a screw in it won’t crack or chip away the Gelcoat. And that is your install tip of the week. Cheers everybody.

Hey Captain Mike, another Captain MIKE here ! Love the boat and design is well thought out for what you want to do.. Like the general layout of console so far, think I remember that you had a prior rendering done to show layout, but I think that was for a different screen if I'm recalling correctly... I guess I need to see where pipe tower is installed to think about anything else being added to that beautiful clean uncluttered console. If it's possible, can other accessories be flush or below flush mounted with covers made from consoles cut out sections ? Saw it on a boat show demo that was super cleanly done. The cutouts had a common lock on them to make electronics harder to steal, the accessories could only be removed from below, and had a metal box covering all installation items that was padlocked in a way to keep boltcutters etc from access ! If I win your schweet hoodie, I'm XXL ! Thanks For All The Videos !

i have watched this series since you started. All I can say is "WOW WHAT A NICE BOAT." Hope you get that baby on the water real soon. I have a Lowrance HDS7 Gen 3 and recently updated to a Totalscan transducer. I have done one test of the Log Sonar feature for creating structure maps and it looks promising for getting an overlay of what the bottom looks like especially on artificial reefs and possibly ledges along the shipping channels in the Tampa Bay Area to see where the actual debris is located. Once you create the maps you can save them to an SD card and then anytime you travel over an area you have scanned it will automatically display the bottom structure as an overlay on your chart. You can even look at the chart while the boat is out of the water and see the overlay and even add waypoints if desired. I think???? only Lowrance and Simrad???? have this feature. Here is a link to a really SMART guy that has the technique down pat. One thing that is important is selecting the correct file type when saving the logged files, ie. either a SL3 for the newer units or the SL2 for the older units like mine. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BgAZoyntbLU.html Just something you might want to try if your unit has that capability. Tight Lines to you on your new fishing adventures. John

I would not change anything with the layout, but would put in a Garmin unit. Not saying Garmin is better. Just been using a Garmin for about 4 years now. Once you learn the menus and all the feature it's hard to change to a different manufacturer. Also I do really like the Garmin Quickdraw. I think the next thing is to match your VHF radio DSC with your NAV system. Where are you going to locate your GPS antenna? Think about what might change if you add a T-top later.

I own Simrad on one boat and Raymarine on the other. Simrad has very rudimentary waypoint management while Raymarine has outstanding waypoint management. Key features that Simrad is missing: 1) waypoint grouping 2) ability to turn on or off waypoint names for a group 3) different size waypoint icons (fish icons are tiny) 4) ability to bulk edit a group of waypoints 5) ability to filter waypoints by a string and then batch edit the filtered group The lack of these features makes the Simrad unusable for most fishermen and cruisers. I do not have a dog in this hunt other than making people aware of the shortcomings of Simrad.
