I don't know who resurfaced your old flywheel, but based on a visual comparison with the new one, they cut way to much material off! Those clutch springs should have never been close, unless you got the plate in backwards. ;) Did you ever get it running again??
Yes I did get it running The old flywheel was just plain worn out before I had it machined Flipping the plate over only made the problem worse and I edited this comment because I missed about half of your comment the first time I read it so sorry
I don’t have a 784 or an 84 series but I do know a couple guys that do have one I think they are pretty close to the same on the inside If I had more time space and money I’d love to get more of these awesome older tractors
