We are installing our deck boards on this project and in this video we will show you all of our tips for ensuring a great layout and installation of your decking. We are using Deckorators Mineral Based Composite decking on this project and we'll walk you through how we install it with hidden fasteners and how we get perfectly straight accurate cuts on the deck boards. We are also using the decking as trim around the perimeter of the deck so we'll walk you through how we like to install it for a super clean look around the outside of your deck and deck stairs!

Tundra/Costa combo is sick. I used the Tundra 1x11 1/4” fascia on my balcony w/ custom corners and love it.

The mineral based composites aren't prone to the swelling/shrinking that typical plastic based composites are. 👍

I just use black spray paint on all that stuff under the deck. Lowe’s sells a can that sprays like a fan you can do a whole 2x10 in one pass.

We’ve been using Benjamin Moore arbor coat. It’s been the only black stain we have been able to find that is available in gallons

Why do you run the track saw without the blade cover?

It gets jammed up on long cuts sometimes and it’ll mess up the cut with no warning, so we started running it without the cover

@@THEpremieroutdoor Use a dust extractor to keep the saw from plugging with much less mess that needs to be swept up. Those plastic shaving aren't going to disappear into the vegetation like wood eventually will. Plus the plastic shaving adhere like a magnet to things, especially when humidity is low outside.

Hey Shawn I’ve fairly new to your channel but have been watching pretty religiously. I’m looking to start my own company and am wanting to know what certifications or licenses would be useful/needed to start a decking company. Please respond id appreciate it. Even if you could point me in the right direction to find this I’d appreciate it

Hey Aaron, I really appreciate you following along! The certifications are going to vary a lot from state to state, here in New Jersey you just need to apply for the license and have proof of insurance and you’re good to go. You can look into NADRA, they are a trade organization for the deck and railing industry and have tons of resources to help in addition to deck specific trainings and whatnot. Would be worth looking into for sure
