Thanks man, that was super easy and to the point. Also the scripts list you linked are awesome! Wish I knew about that before spending 30 hours googling useless crap when I did 1st config on my box LOLZ
You're welcome. Yes, it helps a lot with scripts when you want to save time. I've been there, done that, spending hours problem-solving and then finding a solution that could have saved time.
Awesome! Glad to hear that the BigBearTutorials helped you. You're welcome! Feel free to suggest video ideas here: community.bigbeartechworld.com/c/bigbearyoutube/bbyt-suggestions/7
I am a newbie and I did all the step carefully. But they returned the error. Creating a Docker LXC using the above advanced settings ✓ Using local for Template Storage. ✓ Using local-lvm for Container Storage. ✓ Updated LXC Template List ✓ LXC Container 104 was successfully created. ✓ Started LXC Container ✓ Set up Container OS ✓ Network Connected: 2001:ee0:4f8c:fe60:be24:11ff:fe4e:1d7f ✗ Internet NOT Connected
100% I think so, and you're welcome. Let me know if you have any video suggestions. I am always open to new ideas for the channel! community.bigbeartechworld.com/c/bigbearyoutube/bbyt-suggestions/7
Thank you very much for the excellent and helpful video! I finally installed Docker which is talked about quite a bit in the Home Assistant community thanks to you! :-) Now that I have Docker installed - what's the next step? I entered the Docker interface and don't know what to do there. Do you have any additional video tutorials for further learning in different uses of Docker (I chose Ubuntu)?
You're welcome! Docker is awesome I have a series on Portainer. Glad I was able to help! :) ru-vid.com/group/PL2RAscIdkpt-gjniTJaiVT6CI6p71MyXV If you have any video suggestions, please let me know here: community.bigbeartechworld.com/c/bigbearyoutube/bbyt-suggestions/7

I installed docker LXC including compose and portainer options, I see portainer container is running, but web interface is not accessible via 9000 port, both vm_ip:9000 and host_ip:9000. What am I missing?
Docker, LXC, and Ubuntu VMs are different approaches to isolation and deployment. Docker/LXC: lightweight, process-level isolation, shared host OS kernel, efficient resource usage, quick startup, good portability for applications. Ubuntu VMs: heavier, stronger isolation with separate OS instances, higher resource overhead, longer startup, less portable for a complete OS. Choose based on your specific needs for isolation, resource usage, and portability.
I have an issue, it says "No network" about 10 times and it stopped the script. Im on a VPN connecting to my office's network (where my proxmox node is), is there a solution to fix this remotely?
retrying it resolved it. But my portainer when I try to connect to it via web browser IP:9443 shows me that Client sent an HTTP request to an HTTPS server
Awesome! I'm glad you were able to get it working. I try to get to the comments as fast as I can; sometimes I get backed up, but it's awesome hearing from the Big Bear Community! If you have any video suggestions, please let me know here: community.bigbeartechworld.com/c/bigbearyoutube/bbyt-suggestions/7
That would be awesome if they were just not sure if it's something that they're going to do. It would make adopting Proximox easier and bring more people on board, I would say.
@@bigbeartechworld i found out later i can root access the lxc right from proxmox shell and use the vm id. Then change password from console. New password worked after that.
Thanks a lot for the video. I think this is not a good idea to install docker into container. Due to misconfiguration and providing privilegies for the docker container you can get access to the docker host and due to privilegies in LXC container you can access hypervisor as the container still uses the same kernel. I prefer to isolate docker into separate VM as if you have vulnerability in the docker container only VM and other containers could be affected.
Yes, I agree that running Docker in an LXC container can pose security risks. However, using virtual machines (VMs) instead introduces additional overhead and increases resource usage. Therefore, it's important to carefully consider the balance between resource utilization and security. Additionally, it's crucial to always be vigilant about the software being installed, regardless of the chosen deployment method.
This video is super helpful! I ran into 1 issue, not sure how to get around it... Anyone else run into this? ✗ Unable to detect a valid Container Storage location. Anyone know how to set
