Installed a double din and backup camera in a 2006 Ford Explorer. Save yourself time and use fuse number 15 in the drivers side fuse box.
Parts used:
Dash kit - Metra 95-5812

Thanks for this! Installing a head unit and backup camera in my father's 2008 Explorer tomorrow and this is precisely what I needed! Is there anywhere you know off hand to pull a parking brake signal? I guess I can just ground it and it doesn't matter, but if I can 'do it right' I will. Thanks so much!

Depending on the radio type you can just ground it but the newer double din name brand radios you absolutely have to connect it to the parking brake ground wire. It will be right over top of the parking brake pedal coming out of a switch

Any luck finding the factory wiring at the head unit? I couldn’t locate constant 12v. Also where does the red wire at the camera end go?

Constant 12v at the radio should be a blue/red wire. The red signal wire at the camera will act as the new power wire so it needs to be connected to the red power wire of the camera

I noticed that coming out of the factory radio, there are 2 wiring harnesses. Did you only need to connect one wiring harness?

Yes, you only need to use 1

Hey question. If I use the fuse my wire doesn’t reach all the way to the back did you use an extension or anything?

Run the wire from the fuse to the trigger wire on the yellow RCA cable behind the radio. Then connect the power wire at the camera to the trigger wire on the RCA cable at the camera
