I don't normally comment on youtube videos, but this is perhaps the most informative video I've ever seen on here. I was getting into the weeds trying to figure out how to add a drip irrigation system to my vegetable garden, and there's like a million videos for each particular product. This just gives the general overview I needed all along. Thanks for this. I can't wait to watch the other videos in this series as I get more advanced with it!

Same! I’m at the point where I’m ready to install the drip system. It’s my first time and my husband has absolutely no clue what he is doing! I’m watching YT videos and trying to freshen up before I purchase everything I need and install it. This video series was by far the most helpful

People planning to feed drip lines directly from their home plumbing (eg, via an outside hose bib) and leave the connections in place indefinitely and unattended also need to look into setting up some kind of code compliant backflow preventer assembly (eg, a pressure vacuum breaker, a doublecheck valve assembly, etc). Most municipalities legally require it.

Hi Jim. My first post. After reviewing several you tube videos on installing drip irrigation systems, i finally worked up a flow design. Very simple in nature but more importantly, i found the confidence to do it myself. Ordered everything i need and I'm now just waiting for the items to arrive. Appreciate your easy to watch instructions.

I just came across your video as well and have to say I was very intimidated at the beginning of the video looking at all the pipe/tubing but by the end I feel confident I could explain it (along with the notes I took) to someone else. I know it will still take me forever to plan it out and lay it in our very small yard, but I finally feel like this a doable task now. Looking forward to watching your next videos. Thanks for taking the time to create and share this info with all of us! I appreciate you!!

Thank you my friend I was going to hook that 18 inch to my veggies. I wasn't sure about the 1/4 tubing. This is my second year doing this. Last year I ran punch hole with with those bubbler in my vegetable garden. I wasn't happy in the performance. Now that i'm restarting over again you answer my question..God bless You. Happy Easter..

I have been watching videos on setting up a basic drip system for my small home garden. This one is the best. I wish I had seen this earlier. Choice of a main line with 1/4 inch drip line with built in emitters is an excellent recommendation. Keeps it simple with very few parts. Thanks

Great video. Now I have a plan for my garden boxes, They are 4 x 8 x 2 boxes with 1/2" threaded pvc pipe in the middle pointed up coming from a valve that I can add to my controller. So my plan is to put a regulator with filter on first, then the adapter for the 17 mm line. Loop that down to the dirt in the box, close it. Tap into the 17 mm line for my drip line. Put an on off switch in and run my drip line!

I’ve watched dozens of videos to better acquaint myself with this type of drip irrigation. I have to say your series is the only one that appealed to me. I’ll be watching these on repeat again. I’m wondering if you have a comprehensive list of the sizes of your pipes and tubing and all of the punches and fittings so that I know what to look for. I wish I had a hands on mentoring session, but I think I can do this with your videos.

If you have your timer at the end of a hose be sure and put the pressure reducer before the hose. Most hoses are not able to withstand constant pressure without eventually bursting or the fittings blowing off. I learned this the hard way.

Take a clean yoghurt container and put a sewing needle through the bottom. Fill it with water and see how long it takes to empty. That will give you the time it will take to empty and you can work from there to decide how big a container you actually will need--a pint, a quart, a gallon, multiple gallons, etc.

@rgzhaffie

The o-ring gaskets are replaceable, so you could try that. But otherwise, something might be damaged and preventing a watertight seal from forming. Leaving water inside those parts overnight during a freeze could crack them, among other things.

Hi.. I see this is an older video. But you make it look easy. So I'm following what you're doing. 😊 It's my first time setting this up. I have all the parts as of today. You talk about a filter and pressure regulator. I don't have those yet. Here's why. I use a lot of worm casting in my garden. I have 9 Rubbermaid bins of Red Wigglers. Every summer, I put an RV Water filter on the faucet and then hook the hose onto that. So the chlorine ect ect bad stuff is filterd out the water. So doesn't kill everything in the casting. My question is.. Can I just attach my ½ hose to the RV filter ? Would that do the same as the filter and pressure regulator you have . I don't want to spend $$ if I don't need to. 🙂
