My NX shifter jammed after a week. Stupidly I opened the top which is like uponing a watch. The bike shop wouldn't re-build it. You just have to put a new one on. I'm scared of it happening again so I'm going to order a spare. This video gives me some confidence that I might be able to replace it in the wild, if I carried a cable cutter, but you didn't show how to fit the cable back through the deraileur. I guess it should be fairly obvious if you study it before removing it.
this guy,i just got 1,my old sram broke after the udh snappingon a nip up on trek 9.7 rail, why aint sram doing much about the udh getting more bash protection,so many people have to drill out the udh as it wont untighten after snapping ,it just spins both waysin the frame.
For better climbing, you have changed everything but the only thing that will really improve climbing, which is the front chainring. Replace it with an oval chainring with 2 less teeth solves everything
How do you feel about this particular drive set? Any good? I seem to find mixed reviews about it. Some say it is very finicky and needs constant adjustment. I would really appreciate a professional opinion. I know this is the entry-level drive train in the 1/12 Sram Eagle series. Thank you!
No problem, My buddy rides this on both his bikes. He rides hard and unapologetically on his hardtail and full suspension. He has ridden awhile with really no issues. I'd say after several hard months is when I started to see finicky problems start to arise. Hard to say if it's all the derailleurs fault, it could be a combination of things like a wearing cassette and shifter. I will say the 1X systems are hard on the rear derailleur especially the main pivot at the frame attaching bolt and the lower pulley system for all brands. Overall I think it is a good system, price is right and gets the job done. It may be awhile before you start seeing problems. Bumping up the rear derailleur a level or two may prolong good shifting.
@@BikeTeacher I just got a new bike equipped with NX shifter and derailleur and after about 3 weeks of riding my shifter started getting stuck. It happens mainly when I go on the 50T and try to upshift afterwards. I opened up the shifter and what happens is the shift cable comes out of the plastic pulley that pulls it out when downshifting probably due to cable pressure since there is no groove holding the cable in place. Can you comment if this is something you saw and if so, was there any way to resolve this? Looking at the shifter mechanism, I'm a bit at loss to explain why SRAM didn't put some kind of safeguard to prevent the cable from coming out of the pulley. I can fix it but eventually it comes out again and I need to reopen the shifter to fix it. I'm getting to a point where I'm just thinking of upgrading a notch.
@@nicolasregis2286 This has been happening to me with my SX Eagle shifter. I've opened it multiple times and fixed it, but it eventually happens again. Looking to upgrade the drivetrain to GX and maybe upgrading to the X01 shifter.
Thumb upshift lever that attaches to the internal steel and rotator plate is made of cheap plastic and you can't buy that piece individually... Failed after only a few rides on a GX. Got to buy the whole assembly. It appears it is plastic on all of the versions of the eagle shifter...
@@BikeTeacher it's ok I just bought the GX Groupset.. My NX shifter snapped inside as I fell forward going downhill. I was hoping the video would show inside.. Tha ks anyway bro & enjoy ur day
