Engine guards (a.k.a. crash bars, adventure bars, bash bars, etc.) protect your motorcycle--and maybe your leg and foot--in some kinds of crashes, slides, and drops. Certainly scuffing, scraping, denting, or destroying a replaceable part (# 2S0012834) is better than doing the same to your engine cylinder head or your tibia.
Installation takes about 90 minutes and requires a hex set (up to 8mm), socket wrenches, blue Locktite, and a bit of patience.
