Dude!!! I am so grateful for this video you saved me so much time. My dealership had no clue as well… but they make it sound like it’s just software you apply for or an app like on a phone… not cool.
Thank you greatly. I was considering this option but now considering the price for the chip I will just get a Humminbird Helix 5 that I am already familiar with. I need a depth finder as well as a chart plotter. You just saved me almost $250 and a lot of frustration.
I just use it as a map but there are other function i have not really used. I messed with it one day and was able to get a tracer line to show where i went. Also saving points of interest.
Awesome video just subscribe to your channel. Will you please do a complete video on how to use the GPS. Will the GPS show you how to get back to the location where you launch your jet ski from. My biggest fear is getting lost and not knowing how to get back to the boat ramp. Thanks again
It does have that capability to trace your path. I have not really used it yet on the water other than turning it on. The 4 options i currently know is that you can set the map at true north, freeze the map or the location pointer will always align with the front of the ski. 4th thing is i programmed in a couple key points in my area with given names.
I am also in SC and the salesman on my 23 FX crusier did not know that the ski came with a GPS-SMH!! Like you said - a 23k ski and trailer package and they dont know there product. REDLINE POWERSPORTS - Myrtle Beach. Nice team, but dont know there products as well as the buyers! Any futher issues with the GPS?
And the connext system is riddled with bugs. Fuel gauge beeps with just under half tank. No way to shut off while riding. I had to unplug the beeper wire. Was driving me crazy.
Same here - I told them I want a cover and they provided one. It was a used VX cover inside the box. They ordered the right one, but just the principle. Additionally, Yamaha has promotional APR they didn’t even check Yamahas website (suppose did not know about it). They put 10.8% in front of me and told them to jump in a lake. Got 6.99 through Yamaha and they needed to redo all the paperwork. Personally, I think they were trying to pull some crap!
@@chikkicarolina15 lol I JUST took mine out for first time this weekend dealer told me there was only 5 gallons in it but the gauge was reading like it was damn 1/4 gallon in it, & incessantly beeping!!! I thought the dealer lied to me about how much fuel but nope it only took 12.9 when I filled it- so please tell me, WHERE do I disable that beeping noise!???
I just purchased mine waiting for it to come in. Does it do that beeping noise everytime you start it up again while its acquiring gps signal? Or was it a one time thing. How has it held up thus far?
Ok. The beeping was a low fuel situation. The fuel gauge is completely off. When the fuel indicator turns red and there are no bars visible, there is still 6-7 gal of fuel left. I disconected the wire for the warning now no beeping. You have to be aware of your fuel though. After riding and refilling you can calculate your fuel usage in your head easily.
I am not sure. I imagine if you are a tech guru you can do it. I did not have to register the vin so it should work in any ski. Meaning if you have the right program you should be able to transfer it.
Looks like we live very close to each other haha I just ordered my FX HO and it should be in within a month. Do you know if you are able to order them with the chip installed already? Seems like it would make a lot more sense. Also, is the fuel gauge now off because of the chip? Thanks in advance
The fx limited may come with it but not the cruiser. Bass proshops i was told has them too. The fuel issue is a problem with most yamaha fx's with connext system. I rode so much last summer i can kinda tell when fuel is at a critical level now. I can ride when fuel says 0 for a long while after. Not being able to shut off the warning beep with a push of a button is dumb.
Yes, I honestly have not used any of those features extensively. I messed with it a bit, couldnt really figure it out, so I just use the map which works great.
I do use my phone on occation when i travel off the navigation grid. Such as small creeks and rivers that extend far inland where the connext chart doesnt show. Plus you cant use the connext unless you let off throttle. It just sucks that with a 24k ski, it didnt come with the chip.
