How to install GY6 Big Bore Kit 171cc on 157QMJ Part #1

NOTE: This is a dry installation demo ONLY. However, recommend proper cleaners and lubes (see Chemical List) when assembling for actual engine use.
CORRECTION: Piston "EX" smaller valve indent should be facing down toward the exhaust. This means the entire piston engrave 61mm and the Taida Star symbol would be upside-down NOT like the video show. We did this for the reading aesthetic of what piston size/brand installed. However, the newer model Taida Cylinder Piston Forged 61mm now comes aesthetically upright.

Yes,it's the gear behind the variator,i want to replace the crankshaft,i i used a bearing separator and gear puller set i bought from harbor freight tools and one of the legs broke at the thread on its first use

What's up with the little hole parallel to the chain tensioner on the cylinder ? Do you have to close it with a bolt or welds ? What is its functionality ? And will it leak oil if not sealed ?

Hello sir.. i got QS157QMJ engine (suzuki vecstar150 / an150).. is the same as others gy6? Want to upgrade some performance part like big bore with stroker kit with 4 valve head in it (like Taida/NCY/naraku).. The oem crankshaft different shape (axe shape like). Is it possible to change other type to other performance crankshaft or others performance kit? Can u recommend available kit out there?

Is there a significant difference in performance between the 150cc and the 170cc?? I just bought the NCY 61mm BBK and the NCY 61mm Head with valves. I spent quite a bit of money so I was hoping there would be. I had to replace these parts anyways, and I used NCY because of the good review on Amazon.

yes you're going to see a quicker acceleration as well as increase in top speed depending on any other extra she put on there like exhaust, carb, Jets

I need some help please on my gy6 1P57qmj, I'm about to replace my stock cam with a A11 performance cam, so on the stock cam there's a sort of one way, notched bearing next to the cam end bearing, what does it do? And should I transfer it to my new cam? Which did not come with one?

Just buy size larger jets, intake manifold (to match head),high flow exhaust and cone racing air filter.

I may have made a balls up. I didn't line the timing up before before taking it all apart. Now I can't get the piston and timing lined up to tdc. What do I do?

You can use a 2.5 mm just make sure you get extra base gasket that's the paper gasket

You can do it with the engine on the frame most if the times, but it's just easier pulling out the engine from the frame. You will have more space.

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my big bore upgrade kit with a 61mm cylinder head for my gy6 150cc (will it fit or needs machine bore out?). I'm looking at 172cc or 200cc they both showing of 61mm. Now another be a 180cc at 63 mm. Is 63 needing a machine bore or not. I just don't see a 180ccc unit at 61mm. Please advice, Thanks!

Kou Vang what's up Kou, look like you're planning to Unleash the Beast you're correct the highest you can go without boring is 61 mm or 62.7 outer diameter make sure that for there is some 61 mm Max 171 CC that does require boring anything above that does require it as far as I know so far that means the 180cc will require boring if you're going to go for 180cc he'll use the same case possibly as a 232cc I hope this helps

Ok, am watching your video now on a 180cc having a 63mm. it shows tite BUT works, but you'r responce only show no higher than a 62.7mm or others must be bored. Please advice.

Kou Vang normal stock 150cc crankcase i.e. 157qmj is no larger than 63 mm opening round for the cylinder housing sleeve to fit inside if you do get a 61mm make sure its outer diameter sleeves or skirt is safeside no more than 62.7 outer diameter. Yes there is no 180cc with a 63mm diameter you can make it work but you'll have to bore it and the maximum you can bore is closer to 64.7 millimeter before cutting close to the oil port, make it not that stable for long term performance that's why I recommend going with a case that can bore upto to 232CC, you can increase your CC not just with the crankcase alone but you can reach 200 cc from a 180 just need to make sure you upgrade all other parts from exhaust to air intake, air intake manifold, high flow oil pump and heavy duty starter clutch and high torque starter motor is a mess if you're upgrading from 180cc and above for 171 just a heavy starter clutch would be adequate.

Kou Vang that's a variable question it depending how much you know about your jetting and precise and as well as other components involved but you'll definitely increase your RPM and speed how much that very incline climates I would love to give you a definite miles per hour but that's something you'll have to enjoy discovering yourself :)

To tell any gy6 measure from head stud to head stud. 150cc gy6 should have with 54mm or 56.28. 54mm is a a case and 56.28 is a b case. They also have a short head and a long head. A 2 valve head and a 4 valve head. If you scooter is running a 13" tire or bigger it prolly have a long case. If the tire size is small it prolly has a short case. What you have should be a 150cc a block if it's the 157qmj

That is correct. Just make sure you have a cylinder kit sleeve outer diameter 62.7mm you don't have to bore or your stock GY6 is 63mm forsure on 157QMJ

Jermaine Bryson all cylinder kit comes with the sleeve it's part of the cylinder just make sure that it's measurements is no less than 63 mm it's the sleeve that goes inside the boring case.
