Love the video keep up the good work I’ve got a maverick myself and I got the rough country hood struts and it looks a lot better in quality than that brand looking forward to more videos😊
I used your advice about installing, in spite of the poor instructions. Pretty simple, really. But another thought about the lower bracket. I think I know what all the extra washers were intended for. If you look at the front hole there are two layers that are together as part of the frame. The engineers left a space between them, and I am guessing their computers figured it would be stronger if it was that way. So rather than squish the two sheet metal layers together with a bolt and nut, I found that 4 of the washers (for each side) would take up that space almost exactly. Then you can crank down the bolt as tight as you want and the geometry stays the same. The washers are all stainless which is a good thing, no rust or corrosion.
I installed these and yes they hold up the hood. Problem is, on the window-side corners of the hood, they raise them about about 1/2" above where the lines meet, because the force of these closed pushes up those corners and sides. Seems as if they're made for hoods weighing much more! That was 2 hours I won't get back! But I will get my $$ back TY!
Do you have any problems with closing your hood? I have a 2023 XLT and you have to drop the hood at least 10 inches or it will not close, and you cannot push it shut. YOu have to lift it up a bit higher and then drop it again. If these struts have to much force, I wonder if I will be able to close my hood? Thank you.
I have found that some vehicle parts from overseas get the L and R backwards. ‘Mericans standardize by assuming the left and right is from sitting in the driver’s seat. Maybe the Chinese assume you are in front looking back at the car.
