I seem to have a problem when ending the installation, as Kali will remain on a a black screen with a white underscore flashing (seemingly to allow typing, however I couldn't type). I have waited around 10 minutes for it to go to the log-in page however it doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated Edit: I have figured out that I unchecked the installation of GRUB, therefore, I am asking now how to install grub afterwards. Edit 2: Sorry to bother you folks! Apparently all I needed was grub and it works. Thanks for the awesome video.

When I start Kali in Virtualbox it opens in command mode and asks for my login and password, after providing them, when I type "startx" command it moves to GUI mode, but when I reboot the system it again opens in command mode asking for login details and I have to type “startx” again. Installing Kali - easy. Making the guest additions work - impossible. That's Linux for ya. EDIT: If you're reading this - don't install the standalone Kali version directly into VirtalBox, use the provided .ova file which is lower in the same page. That file works with the guest additions every time and is much easier to install.

For those who are stuck at 14:11, they can simply unmark everything except the first two checkboxes: "Desktop Environment" and "Xfce" (at 13:40). Then installation would work. You can later install them via terminal.

Go into ur actual computer settings.."BIOS SETUP" mine said "INTEL VIRTUAL TECHNOLOGY" and enable it. I was having an issue where the 64 bit wasn't even an option. And that fixed the issue.

Because you need to rename it with .iso extension.

you need to go into boot mode and allow virtualization in advanced settings

@@avikbanerjee9818 I would also recommend giving around 100GB space to your Virtual Hard Drive instead of just 8GB. You will not be able to install many packages with just 8GB.

I would say just redo everything and make sure you did everything correctly. if it doesn’t let you do anything try checking ur bios sometimes they disable virtual operating system

@CloudFN yes I did fix it. I had a setting off that should have been on by default. I just had to turn it on.
