If you're interested in my NVMe SSD external drive, here are the parts (I will make a video on this soon): (Amazon) Crucial NVMe M.2 SSD: geni.us/crucialnvme (Amazon) Plugable NVMe Enclosure: geni.us/plugablenvme
I’m a bit confused on choosing which macbook to buy. I have two choices: Macbook air(8 core gpu variant) with 16 gb ram and 512 gb storage.(Air for its more portable and slim design) Or Macbook pro with 8 gigs of ram and 512 gigs of storage.(Pro only for the fan and little increased and sustained performance over long gaming or music production sessions) I am a student so I’ll be typing a lot and I’d also like to mildly game on it. I also produce music so please take that as a consideration. Also if you could suggest me a color that too would make my choice easier. If someone could help, it’ll be really appreciated.😊
@1tsm3ky I suggest you to invest in ram rather than storage (if you are going with pro) Bcoz even if you intend to upgrade the ram it is not possible after your purchase but could do the same in case of storage (I mean external storage) Between Air & Pro check out video of maxtech ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CmMOJTs7Pu8.html
@@i1sm3ky bro so the performance on both is IDENTICAL. Just get the Air with 16 gb of ram. I got it last week and it's been great. Runs everything just fine. You'll be satisfied. As for color just pick whichever you like best 🤙🏿 I got space gray for the darker look
@@gumerzambrano My biggest concern is that I’m gonna use it really intensively for long periods of time and I have seen some videos where they said it’s gonna thermal throttle a little just a little after 10-20 mins of usage. You’ve got firs hand experience so can you tell me will it throttle or not? I mean when I’ll use it for long sessions of music production will its performance decrease due to throttling or I’ll be just as fine with the air?
This is actually pretty great to be able to fully transfer a full program to an external ssd. I just bought the 256gb M1 macbook pro and was a bit regretting I did not go for the 512gb one. But seeing this guess there's not much to worry.
I swear to God that I was having this exact question because I would like a 256SSD and I use a decent amount of apps and I was wondering if I could transfer them to an external drive, its like your can read my mind!!! great video as always mate
Same!! And honestly I think I will get the base M1 Air plus and external SSD and If I get another Mac in the future all the heavy apps and games will be in the External SSD
This is an amazing way to save big money since these new macs are nearly double in price in my country. Thank you for the quality video. This was really helpful.
That and the dongle industry. So many small and medium businesses that came out of their minimal ports strategy. Including in countries where there isn't a big tech sector.
Applications are loaded into RAM and then run so the performance is actually the same for most applications. It's certainly a good way to store application images.
Thank you so much for this video, I have been trying to do this, but I didn't know how. You literally saved me. I have been trying to figure this out because I needed windows for school and also I wanted to download some games. This was the perfect tutorial for me. Thank you!
Perfect. perfect . since yesterday I have 256GB for 16gb m1 because I knew I would use the disk externally and you have now made a video. I originally wanted a t5 but this morning I chose m2 nvme and box on it.
Can we use same external SSD drive to transfer files between samsung s20 plus (android 11) to ipad (ios14) ? I've to store bigger files on SSD which I want to use on both devices . Please answer.
Thank you for the very simple tutorial, I'm getting a drive tomorrow as I've ran out of space to play X-Plane 11 so hopefully everything runs smoothly and it works out!
Haha, I was just getting ready to write a comment inquiring about the speed of the internal SSD and you answered it! Looking forward to the video on making my own, likely cheaper than my T7, though the enclosure you list is priced much higher than expected.
A good quality thunderbolt 3 enclosure might get you equal or similar speeds to the internal SSD. I personally use a Yottamaster enclosure + WD Black SN750 SSD. But thunderbolt external drives costs almost the same amount as Apple's own upgrade.
@@preciouss04 It's basically a USB C cable with a lot higher data transfer capabilities. Some intel windows computers also have support for thunderbolt. Thunderbolt ports are compatible with USB C accessories but not the other way.
Unfortunately the problem for a lot of music production apps is that the bulk of the data is the dependencies and content and a lot of them specifically point to certain places on the main HD . Now some you can move and make an alias pointing to somewhere , but many you cannot. AU Plug-ins have to live on the main HD the DAW applications only look for them where I’m assuming apple tells them they have to be . VSTi isn’t restricted with this currently though at least as most DAWs allow the user to specify where the library is located .
damn, that's true. the only reason i'm even seeing this video is because i have the idea of buying a 250gb external HDD to run EZDrummer 3 on, but i want to save space on my main internal HD. If I could opt for VST over AU, i suppose i should be able to have all directories and library folders contained on the external HDD vs the internal? But if i can only do AU, then i'm forced to install on the main internal drive
@@lavenderllamamusic I use version 3 and have the library on an external drive with the rest of my sample libraries so no sweat . The AU obviously lives in the internal drive , but it’s not very big if I recall . Cheers !
I formated my ssd to apfs, but Steam keeps saying that it is read-only. Is there a way to fix this? UPDATE: I found a solution go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Files and Folders look for Steam and tick the box next to Removable Volumes. Restart Steam, and it should allow you to add the ssd as a steam library folder
Super Awesome Video.. This helped me made a decision to go with the 16gb ram version of the Macbook rather than paying for the 500gb ssd model. Thank You.
I don’t have a Macbook yet. But I’m defo getting one when it becomes available here in the PH. And I’m just stacking up these tips so I can apply them when I get mine lmao thank you for these!
That was really great and you even gave the tip for steam and warming up of the drive 🤩😁 And I think so too that buying the "2tb additional storage with 16gb ram is actually like buying another Macbook Air" 🙄
