For Manjaro, instead of mysql, type mariadb - Both are same, just the different name.

sudo pacman -S and then you usually put the package name. Or you can use the software center. Software center of Manjaro is pretty good

@@LinuxH2O mariadb is a fork... It's a better version of mysql but there are various reasons why some people would prefer mysql 8.0 over mariadb. (and reminders for arch addicts that we do not have a place to question those reasons, as we all have our own.)

I did MEDIUM password as '12345678'. I've got ERROR 1698 like it's wrong password. What did I wrong? mysql version is 8.0.27, Linux mint. Thanks!

hello sir itried installing it but it is showing me error ... Failed! Error: SET PASSWORD has no significance for user 'root'@'localhost' as the authentication method used doesn't store authentication data in the MySQL server. Please consider using ALTER USER instead if you want to change authentication parameters.

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) when I tried using sudo command. This popped up. Any workarounds?

1. The default root password is blank (i.e., an empty string), not root. So you can just log in as: mysql -u root 2. You should obviously change your root password after installation: mysqladmin -u root password [newpassword] you good to go

ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) on manjaro when I install i dont have the sock file :( how can i get o create ?? edit : this is everthing relationed to mysql comand : mysql_secure_installation mysql etc sry am begginer xd reedit : mm i found in documentation and the sock is created automatically but i still getting that error i will die and the pacman -R dont work for remove mysql zzz

There is no official support for Manjaro from MySQL. Use Mariadb, it's a clone of Mysql. They work the same way. When you install mariadb-server, everything is same as Mysql as I have shown in the video. And even you can ise Mysql command with MariaDB.

When i try to download mysql server from package manager on Manjaro from the AUR repositories, everything goes great until it gets to 70-80% of installation the computer starts to go super slow and freezes at 86%

@@LinuxH2O Already did, and tried and tried again several times, and i tried to find some help on the Manjaro forum but theres only solutions for those who have already downlooaded it. Turns out that Arch doesnt oficially support MySQL Server anymore, instead they go with MariaDB that also works with MySQL & MySQL WorkBench, so this is why its placed under AUR.

Then that the option for you. And MariaDB is a complete clone of MySQL and built by the same guy as MySQL, both are 100% compatible.

installed mysql-server on manjaro aur.archlinux.org/packages/mysql/. CPU 99% while installing. and it won't work

Awesome channel 🔥🔥🔥 I have a Question- is is stable to update Gnome in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS since by default it is 3.28 gnome version bash 4.4 version Also will updating it make less RAM consumption? since on idle ubuntu 18.04 has 1.1 gb RAM consumption Any tips on how to reduce the RAM consumption?

You are running Ubuntu with Gnome and it is consuming around 1GB OF THE RAM. I think that's incredible. The OS automatically adjusts the resources consumption as per the availability. So even if you have just 1GB of RAM, the Ubuntu will work fine while using under 1GB of RAM. Linux is already optimized. If you really need it to take below that number then consider using distros like Bodhi, Lite, LUbuntu, Mint etc.
