How to install and replace new rear shocks or struts on Porsche 911 912 - Classic Porsche 911 912 Restoration Koni vs KYB. I started this video out buying a set of KYB shocks for my 1967 Porsche 912 (a 911 with a flat 4 motor) which has a 1976 Porsche 912E VW Type 4 2.0 motor in it. I filmed the process of how easy it is to replace the rear shocks on a Porsche 911 912, using the KYB shocks, but after I test drove my Porsche 912 for a few days; decided to just spring for a set of Koni's and redo the whole thing.
Basically replacing the rear shocks in a Porsche 911 or 912 is two bolts, the bolt that holds the shock to the trailing arm and then one nut inside the engine bay. You could have your new Koni shocks installed in less than an hour.
My 1967 Porsche 912 coupe is unique, instead of the original Porsche 616 motor (the same motor found in the Porsche 356 model), I put in a 1976 Porsche 912E VW Type 4 motor. The VW Type 4 motor will mount to the stock Porsche 901 transmission, the only issues I had was the engine tin and motor mount.
Here is a link to the parts I used in this video:
