Bro, I never write any comments to anyone, but now you just unrealistically helped me. Thank you for such an excellent lesson. Everything is very local and understandable. For a month I could not change the octane, despite the fact that this is one of my main programs for work
thank you so much! you help me a lot! I have been trying to install corona for weeks but it didn't work! but now I run it with rosetta and boom! thanks
This video is some kind of miracle. There is so much rubbish and no information when you search download and set up octane so I really appreciate the time it took to make this video. Thank you!!
Wow thank you so much for the lovely comment, that’s really made my day! 😁 and you’re right, the only reason I made this video is because of how much pain I was in when trying myself for the first time! Just so you know, there’s a more updated version of the plug-in for C4D 2023, I released the video a couple of days ago so if you wish to upgrade you can! Here’s the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yFZiTt9IJPg.html Thanks again, and have a wonderful new year 😁

Thanks for the video! I wonder what account are you holding? It seems like I don't have any options under my "download" even that I signed up on Otoy using a student-licensed Unity account and accepted the "Mac Pro Offer". Is there a way to use Octane X PR13 for free as a student with a newly acquired Macbook pro (macOS 12 Monterey)? Appreciate your help and thanks again !!
Hey I hope it helps! I'm not sure for Unity or the Student-licenses I'm afraid, I have bought a standard license for Octane Standalone and Octane Cinema 4D Plug-in through their website. I think your best course of action would be to drop otoy a message with your problem regarding the student license for Unity, as they are pretty quick at responding in my experience, let me know how you get on!
@@pro.tharan It worked !! Problem was that Octane PR13 only supports C4D from R23-25 so I just had to install a newer version of C4D. Thanks a lot this video is very helpful !!
My pleasure, glad you were able to install it all okay and happy rendering! If you're running a newer machine, I have a new video out about C4D 2023 :)
I have been struggling for a while to get it to work, and your system has worked on my first attempt, smoothly and precisely. Thank you thank you thank you.
I'm glad this video helped you on the first attempt, it can always a be a headache if you are unsure of the steps! My pleasure and have fun with octane!
I use MACBOOK AIR with M1, I already install octane x and it shows in windows, but when I start render is shows no GPU working. I wonder if there's a way to set up or macbook air is not qualify with octane x
You might struggle with the Macbook Air and would want to be careful of not overheating it (afaik it doesn't have a fan). However if you're having issues, try install this version which is more recent, and read my description which has a new download link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i8vLdO_EnXI.html
Thanks for the time, you clearly did a lot of research here. Ive been trying this alllll day. I get a warming that says 'No GPU device which is selected. Any help would be much appreciated. (running MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019)
Thanks mate appreciate it! Ahh, if you;'e on a 15 Inch Macbook, you're not going to like this, but I would go back to Big Sur/Catalina and then reinstall a previous version of Octane. This new version is specifically for Mac M1's and its seems to be their priority. Before you do that, do a quick google and see if your laptop graphics card is supported, if not then you might not be able to run Octane without a dedicated graphics card. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the valuable reminder, been trying to install OctaneX after a rebuild and completely forgot about the rossetta issue. I noticed you installed Octane Studio Standalone, how can you bring it into the C4D workflow? I'm have no idea what to do with it, and only rely on Octane in C4D. Thanks in advance.
Hey! Glad this video ca help and hope the rebuild is working out better for you! The rosetta issue is a pain. I install Studio Standalone for two reasons, one so I can use the test scenes to make sure it's working, and secondly so I can open ORBX files without having to open Cinema 4D and check they're exported correctly. This is just for using RNDR Render Cloud but is the main way I get my exports done from a laptop, I'm sure there's a ton of features but it's the only thing I use it for atm, the UI is god awful and it's super confusing at times but if you find any other benefits let me know!
@@pro.tharan Thanks for the reply, the rebuild isn't going that well, it seems one of the issues with Octane is the logging in process they really need to strealmline the process, thanks for the info on standalone Octane, I'll remove it in that case as I won't be going near it, as you said the UI is daunting, I thought if I login to that, it might save me the hassle to login in C4D.
Macbook PRO 16" with C4D R26 and Octane is not working.. there is also not R26 build in folder (it should work) Any fixes? Gotta probably rollback for R25...
You need to purchase a license unless you have bought a new Mac (can get a free year). If you have an Intel Mac, personally I wouldn't update to Monterey and I would stay on Big Sur/Catalina and then follow Korie's Tutorial video for installing, and if you have issues still follow my tutorial on the Security and Privacy. Thanks
@@pro.tharan Please would you explain more how can I get it for one year free? (I've got a brand new m1 max). I installed Octan X through App Store and got a license but it seems old and only offered PR-11 :/ Thank you so much!
@@CanisLatrans_ AFAIK Octane X is free, but that is just the standalone app and not the plug ins. I'm not completely aware as I have bought the license for both Standalone and Plug In, so reach out to Otoy directly and they should help (Y)
Well done but what a total PITA. Why doesn't the Octane X App handle the plugin download/install? I'm assuming OTOY aren't really interested in macOS & Apple Silicon.
You're not wrong, but I know they are working on it for PR14. My guess is that the Standalone doesn't know what you want to run it through, so it makes sense that they have a separate plug in, but there no reason for it to be as difficult as it is currently and I've flagged it multiple times that asking your users to go into the terminal isn't exactly "User Friendly"
No problem! Denoise does work can be temperamental/cause crashes during export, but only on occasion. I have the 32GB laptop, but I think the 64GB would give you more bandwidth for larger projects if thats what you do, but not essential!
@@pro.tharan thanks man. I currently use pc and denoise usually fails also in high resolution, when it is finalizing. I believe I'm still going to use the pc or farm to render, but I was evaluating the mac for portability and being able to set scenes from anywhere, do you think it's a good option? or a not gamer with rtx 3080ti would be much better?
thanks for this. I have Octane X PR13 Enterprise running with C4D R25 on my M1 Max MBP now. The only issue is that octane causes C4D to crash quite often. Do you know why this might be? Do you know when they'll release a native Octane for Apple silicon?
I think Octane crashes a lot when you do things that try and break it, have extremely heavy scene files or you haven't optimised your scene file. Even then I still get a few crashes here and there, but you get used to it the more times you use it. From my experience, make sure everything has the appropriate tags, and remember the limitations of using a laptop. My use case is for look development and small animations, but for larger scene files you need to optimise heavily. As for the native version for silicon, I got word from Otoy that it will be in the next release which should be in a couple of weeks (fingers crossed) which should have Brigade and a host of other features, including M1 support. Hope that helps and i'll do another video once that comes out!
@@pro.tharan makes sense, thank you! my models have been on the heaver side as they are imported from other software usually. looking forward to your next vids on octane :)
@@raminshambayati1028 Yeah that will do it! I often ahve the same issues with complex models that do not have great topology, just keep an eye on your VRAM as you're creating your scene and try and optimise as you go, as well as remembering to use octane tags for everything! Let me know if there's anything you would like a video on!
Hey Tharan, thanks for your amazing content! I'm really desperate because I cannot get Octane to work on my M1. Maybe you can help me out? Im running Monterey 12.6. I got the Cinema 4D Commercial Licence. I downloaded OctaneRender Enterprise Standalone (macOS (Metal) - Octane X PR14 (Monterey)) + OctaneRender Enterprise for Cinema 4D (macOS (Metal) - Octane X PR14 (Monterey)). I followed all the other steps in your video. One thing I've noticed: Cinema4D Preferences shows Highlight Features as "2023" (Not "R25" like in your video) and I also have 3 folders if i open preferences folder: Version R25, R26 and 2023 (in your example one folder with R25 02:49 min). I tried multiple possibilities like deleting folders, switching highlight features etc. I even tried what you did in your video with only keeping R25 (Folder + "Highlight features") but NOTHING works :( The only thing from your video i could not accomplish is to disable the security gateway. Maybe that's the issue? Very greatful if you can help out! Thanks
Hi mate, don't worry I got your back! I just made a new video that shows you how to install for C4D 2023! Hello, I have yet to find a way to make Octane work on my relatively new Mac Studio. I followed the steps in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N8HEepXm9q0.html The problem occurs as soon as I copy the octane files into the plugin folder: C4D consequentially gives an error message that the source is unverified. When I remove said files I can open C4d but the octane live viewer window logically displays a 'there is no GPU' error message. I also used the terminal command to disable, but as soon as I do that C4D (version 25) crashes immediately. Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue? Thanks! Mac studio specs: Apple M1 Max 64 gig RAM MacOS Sonoma (!)
Hi I've followed the tutorial and when I click on Octane Live Viewer I get this error The plugin c4doctane-R25.xlib has crashed. More information can be found in '/Users/namelastname/Library/Preferences/Maxon/Maxon Cinema 4D R25_EBA43BEE/_bugreports/_BugReport.txt'.
Hi! I followed the video and everything went as planned until it came to using the terminal and reopening. Yes I get a message that it's from an unknown developer. Yes I don't get it anymore when I disable it in terminal. Except, when I open C4D Octane tab isn't there. I'd be grateful for some help!
Hi there! I just released a new video which shows you in a bit more detail how to install it for C4D 2023, I would do that version as that version of Octane is designed for M1 Macs. Let me know how you get on! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i8vLdO_EnXI.html

Amazing to hear! Must be quite a jump from being a PC user particularly! Glad I could help in any way I can, it's a bit of a mess of an installation to say the least but it works. Let me know how you get on and how you find using a Macbook over a PC concerning the limitations, I'm tempted to do the reverse to you to so would be good to trade notes!

I reinstalled already both, hope you can help me I love it, eheh. I wrote to the support too. Thanks anyway!
No problem, as for your sign in issues I'm not 100% what might be causing that, aparrt from the fact the Octane server thinks you're still using your old machine. I think you've done the right thing and wrote to support as it sounds like something on their side not a user error, they are super helpful so just wait till they reply, or also search in the OTOY forum to see if anyone else has had this issue. Great vid, thank you. Do you know if I can use octane and C4D r25 or r26 on a 2019 MacBook Pro running Big Sur? I am currently running r23 but keen to upgrade due to unreliable procedural materials. Thanks for any opinion.😅
To my knowledge it's no for R25 onwards for Big Sur, you'd have to be running Monterey in order for R25/R26 and Octane to play nicely. So I'd stick with your set up, unless you make the switch to Monterey and then go from there! Hope this helps!
@@СветланаМернова Sure, once you have opened the live viewer_Settings_Seetings_Devices_Device Settings. There you can choose and select it. This are the steps.
Is there any way to install Monterey users before M1? I can't open cinema 4d using rosetta. When I try to install rosetta, I get an error(installing rosetta 2 on this system is not supported). Please help me..
At the moment the answer is no, you have to downgrade your system to Big Sur and instal PR13, Octane Pr14 and above has been designed for the M1 chip natively, and unfortunately they didn't think about Monterey users on older machines. If you need it working ASAP I would do that instead, bit of a nuisance but until they release a version which allows cross compatibility betweenM1 and Intel chips, it's your only option at the moment. Sorry to be the barer of bad news, just want to help as much as possible!
Hey, I'm planning to buy a MacBook m1 max, what do you think of it for c4d + octane? Is it good and reliable for client work? How has it worked for you so far? Do you think m1 will have octane support soon? I have compared a lot of laptops and I think the m1 max is still the best choice, what do you think?
If you plan on using RNDR for final renders like I do then it's an incredible machine for Look Dev and creating assets, again you have limitations with it not being a desktop, but for the portability and speed I couldn't recommend it enough. Completely depends on the type of work you do, if you are doing massive landscape scenes it can bog down, however if you're doing product/abstract work then you'll be fine. I can only imagine performance will improve once Octane gets the M1 chip fired up, but for now it's a beast! I'd recommend getting as much RAM as you can afford.
@@pro.tharan RNDR is basically a render farm right? Yeah, I don't plan on rendering on the macbook for the final animation, will use render farms for that. What are the limitations, because it's not a desktop? Also about the RAM, yeah I'm planning on buying fully maxed out m1 max, but with 4TB SSD instead of 8. Thank you for your answer!
Thank you for doing this! I noticed that you only added the plugin into your preferences folder and not in Applications>Maxon Cinema 4d R25. Is that fine? Do we need to have it in both places? Thanks Pro Tharan but I really need your help. We have the same mac, but for strange reasons Octane says "There is no GPU device which is selected..." and I couldn't find any solution to this problem... Any clue?
Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. that is a strange reason I haven't had that pop up ever. My only thought could be is that it's the wrong version of Octane that isn't the Metal version (it's easy to get confused) - Could you uninstall octane and then go to Otoy website to rewnload PR13 for Mac OS Metal, and reinstall it again using this method? Let me know how you get on!
Good to know, I always installed it thinking you needed it but not the case. However if you plan on using RNDR (which I highly recommend) - checking your scenes files in standalone is a must.
