I have just fitted one of these in a 2014 Les Paul, and I thought advance warning of some of the pitfalls I fell into might be useful to others. My guitar had a Gibson FastFit circuit board in it, with 4 push/pull pots, and with pickups, switch, and jack connected to the circuit board with plugs. Needless to say, the Gibson circuit board had to come out and all the plugs had to come off so that individual wires could be inserted into the holes in the new harness. There are plenty of diagrams on the net showing the colour coding of various pickups, but this is not the case for pickup selector switches. Make sure you know the colour coding for your switch before you discoonect it. When you drop the harness into the guitar, check how far the shafts and threaded parts extend out the other side, and ensure you put spacers in if the come out too far. If it all sticks out too far your knobs will be miles from the body and look ridiculous. You don't want to find this out after you have it all wired up! The guy in the video seems to be dealing with big thick stiff wires. At least in my case, reality was very different. All the wires were very thin and fiddly. It helps to strip back the outer as far as possible, giving you longer cores to work with. If this means you lose the Bridge and Neck labels, make sure you put on new labels. Then, very carefully, strip back a decent length of each core (about 6mm). To keep the ends together and stiffen them up, tin them with solder, but do it neatly and don't leave blobs of solder because this will stop the wires from going into the holes. It should then be reasonably easy to insert the wires as shown in the video and supplied diagram. I am not sure if Gibson changed the colour codings for this guitar to go with the circuit board and their push/pull pots, but the results were not as they should have been after following the diagrams. The neck pickup was OK, but the wrong coil of the bridge pickup was being activated, and the phase switch was working in reverse. I fixed the coil selection by reversing the pairs from each coil of the bridge pickup (screw for slug, and vice-versa). To fix the phasing I had to reverse the the connection of each pair as well (so reverse each pair, and also reverse the pairs). Consequently the connections for the bridge pickup were totally different to the diagram. Having got it all together, and three attempts at connecting the bridge pickup, it all works perfectly. My main objective was to get the 50's wiring, so that the volume and tone controls work far more independently than standard wiring. This certainly works well, and the other options with splits, phase, and series, can provide a whole range of sounds. It should be noted that the coil-splits on the existing Gibson push/pull pots are not really splits at all, but just clever circuitry. Overall a success, and I am pleased with the upgrade. If you are watching this video I assume you are fitting one of these, or thinking about it. I hope this helps.

I bought this and it just arrived today! Can’t wait to dig in! Update 10/9/23: the kit works great, super easy to install. Very happy with the kit and will recommend to anyone else looking. The only thing I can suggest is including an easy no-solder extension wire for the bridge ground wire. my bridge wire was down to a short stubby copper nub and I had to solder an extension wire. But that was the only soldering I has to do. Great kit.

It looks nothing like my 1998 LP Jimmy Page Model's harness, but it's certainly a lot neater. Well done!

Can you guys please do a video walk through of your soldered version I'm about to build it from scratch and while I have done this harness with traditional push pull pots this will be my first with this "type" of CTS pots as they look super nice so a trusted guide would be nice.

This is a super cool mod for a Les Paul that I will probably get. Quick question...when you're testing the pickup connections at the end, something doesn't seem right. When the switch is in the bridge position and you lift the bridge volume pot, shouldn't the bridge pickup's screw coil be active instead of the slug coil and vice versa when also lifting the bridge tone pot? This is what I saw in another demo video. And when you flip the switch to the neck position and lift the neck volume pot, you say the screw coil is the active one (as I think it should be based on another demo I saw) however it sounds like the slug coil makes a louder sound when you tap it.
