LOL "even an honest person would steal that"...that had me laughing for 5 minutes. Awesome video. Installed two 12" light bars on the front bumper of my 99 XJ.
@@martinbuilt Hi there! Can you share the secure bolts (or share a photo example) that you install on the led bar? Someone recently stoled mine... Thanks!
I also own a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and when I bought it it came with a 52 inch curved light bar on it and it just did not look right to me and took it off and sold it.
I was actually wondering if it would throw off the look! Mainly the one that overlaps the windshield like this one. Im not really a fan of that but maybe if it was on the roof it MIGHT look good but then I have the moon roof to contend with. I am still undecided if I want to invest the money and drill holes and not like the out come. My older trucks had the actual stainless bar that connected to the top of the door jams I had 4 KC day lighters up there and 2 Blazers in between the brush guard. I loved that. I wish I could have used that rig on my jeep. I also have the hunter brush guard that covers the whole front end like seen here. It has pre drilled holes for lights or a winch. I would like a winch because it already has stock fog lights. www.google.com/search?q=2008+jeep+grand+cherokee+hunter+brush+guard&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS712US712&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=662&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjWx72Us8TPAhUq2IMKHaSrCXsQ_AUIBygC#imgrc=CdgxLGRuZ8U6XM%3A
Your Comment ""+adrian sepulveda I used torx with a center pin welded to a washer. Then drilled another hole off to one side of the washer that goes threw the LED bracket with another torx security screw. Not full proof, just enough to keep the honest people honest."" This is the part I was hoping your were going to show ,,, can you show this?
That was interesting that you used rivets to install the brackets. I'm researching Aux lighting for my WJ and this is the first time I've seen this. Are rivets more secure? Did you do it so the door had clearance to shut or maybe because there was no way to get a bolt and nut to work? I love how you did this though. Looks clean. Also, do you have other videos detailing the wiring process and using relays? I don't have much knowledge of that yet either.
The rivets are part of the RC bracket kit. They work very well. I don't have any videos on the wiring, sorry. i know you could find it on youtube for sure.
Thanks for the video. How sturdy are the brackets and have the rivets loosened up over time? What about wind noise? Anything crazy with the light bar in that location?
The brackets are very sturdy. The rivets have not loosen up at all. And yes you can get some wind noise but that is caused from the LED light bar itself. If you silicone the ends of the light bar where the fins are this will eliminate the noise.
Could you use the universal brackets or rather the originals that come with the bars to make that same installation? Is there a problem or is it a matter of taste that they put these supports?
yanisbel martin you could probably use the brackets that come with it but you're going to end up like drilling holes in the roof line or wherever those brackets will get you you're not going to have the same finished result as you would if you got the RC brackets
I have a couple questions if thats ok? 1. where did you get the light bar, relay switches, switches that turn everything on and off in the inside, and the grommets? 2. Is there a video that shows how to hook things up to the relays then to the switches you have on the inside because i like those switches due to them being small? If so whats the name of the video? 3. Where are all those relays hooked up too? I would like to hook two light bars up on my 97 jeep Cherokee, a 50 and a 20. Also maybe hook up a train horn and i would like to use those switches but i don't know how to hook up the relays and the switches.
Its been awhile but the relays I believe I got those online by googling a particular part number. I had purchased them originally for the Taurus fan that I installed and bought extras. The switches I got at a local electronics store called keesubs in Las Vegas. I don't have a video on how I install the switches.
that is a little tricky. I don't remember what I did exactly. I believe I pried a little bit to get it out. I think you could remove the top dash part and remove the passenger lower part of the dash would help.
if you're referring to the rubber gaskets that come with the Rough Country Light bar brackets it all comes as a kit. the light bar itself came with all the necessary Hardware.
No this particular bracket is designed for the curved light bar. I don't know if it can be bent into the way it works for a street light bar or not. I would recommend getting one that's designed for a straight light bar if that's what you want
+martinbuilt okay so I ordered these brackets really fast out of excitement...but I have a 98 zj. Do you think the brackets will somehow be able to mount?
The noise is from the fins on the back. I took some small rubber grommets and sled them in between the fins just several inches from each end of the light. That fixed it for me. You can do the same with silicone chalk. Do not silicone it all just a dab here and there.
I haven't actually purchased one yet, I have a sunroof and the wind splitting over the factory roof racks is annoying enough, I assumed mounting it at windscreen level would have made it quite audible in the cab.
I got the light bar through a friend of mine that got them through a friend. It was $150 with Free Shipping. but if you look on ebay I see the exact same ones for around 135 free shipping. And the brackets I got at Scorpion Motorsports in Las Vegas
+adrian sepulveda I used torx with a center pin welded to a washer. Then drilled another hole off to one side of the washer that goes threw the LED bracket with another torx security screw. Not full proof, just enough to keep the honest people honest.
Raymond Santiago when I bought my 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee it had a light bar on it I don't recall if it was a 50 or 52 of course it does take a special Mount made for the Jeep Grand Cherokee I personally didn't like the way the light bar looked on the grand it was one of the first things I got rid of.
I took mine out to the wood went hunting 3hrs later came back found out some idiot stole and cut my wire straight off and that was the first day I ever took mine out offroading now I have the bracket looking like horns sticking out my suv god I got lucky I didnt see them take it while I was coming back would a been a bad situation with a 12 gauage with slugs! Damn low life people!
I’ve seen some do it with threaded ones not specifically rivet ones && just wondering if it would be recommended basically for the extra “security” from any leaks
I have no idea what brand name it is. I'm sure it's just a Chinese knockoff. you can get them on eBay and for the exact one that I got you may pay around 120 no more than 150
Thank you for your videos BUT STOP THE LED LIGHT BAR INSANITY! That's all I see when I go out. Its like the classic Tootsie Roll commercial, "Whenever it is I think I see, becomes a LED Light Bar to me." They are illegal for on-road use, so you can only use them offroading. But people are installing them on pickups that can't go offroading, so what's the point? I've even witnessed about 3 CARS that had full light bars; FULL LIGHT BARS! I'm talking... one was on a Mustang! Maybe its the drinking water, where I live? Because each "Fad", or whatnot, whether its Fast n Furious nonsense (trashcan mufflers that sound like mopeds, ground kits that don't fit, huge wings on the rear of frontwheel drive cars), lifted turbodiesel trucks, and now extreme wheel camber that Japanese started years ago.
