Hi looks a great job, there are Rumours that this stuff can be cancerous is this true? Thanks!
@ConcreteBVI
@ConcreteBVI 2 года назад
As long as you don’t eat rubber or urethane there shouldn’t be any issues. We only use this outdoors in well ventilated areas and haven’t had any issues. But yes it is widely known globally that plastics are cancerous but they are also widely used in construction and in household products

Thank you 😊 we typically lose out on some jobs because we’re considered “expensive” but professionals charge high and there’s enough clients willing to pay more than we charge. So it’s a balancing act for sure with regards to pricing in the Caribbean. I know what our worth is for sure and we have big aspirations for the Caribbean region 🙏🏼💪🏼

Fantastic method for saving old concrete without an entire ripout being required! Do you ever do the Recycled Rubber Coating over new concrete?

What is your avg installation rate per sq ft?
@ConcreteBVI
@ConcreteBVI Год назад
We have a lot of extra costs associated with operating in the Caribbean and shipping materials down here … but to answer your question we install rubberstone (this product) for $13-$15 USD / sq ft. Depending on colour. We also install Sierra stone from the same supplier but it’s stone and epoxy binder for $11-$13 sq ft. Then we also install Vuba Stone (same supplier) for $13-$15 sq ft. Which is stone, smaller quartz & polyurethane binder. So prices vary. But expect 30% higher operating costs for us down here in the islands than North America

Awesome work you guys do! What is the spray bottles for , I saw one guy spray liquid on the crumb before troweling, was it diesel fuel, and how do you make a closed pore surface? Love your work!
@ConcreteBVI
@ConcreteBVI 4 года назад
Thank you very much. The trowels slide over the rubber granulars better if you spray it with soap water. That’s all that’s in the spray bottles. 👍🏼
@ConcreteBVI
@ConcreteBVI 4 года назад
This surface is relatively porous. The pours aren’t closed completely.

You said you're praying for no rain. What happens if there is a light steady rain right after the job is finished?
@ConcreteBVI
@ConcreteBVI 3 года назад
A light steady rain won’t affect the binder / glue much at all once the material is put down even if it’s not dry yet. The water beads off of it and won’t dilute it. If it’s a heavy downpour of rain however this could cause bubbling which would require you to walk out onto that material and trowel it down again with a steel trowel. The biggest thing to avoid though is putting new material down on a substrate that has just got wet from the rain. The substrate needs to be dry before applying the primer. Luckily we didn’t have any of these issues on this job.

Hi, the entire last minute of the video is all the finished footage we got of the driveway. Did you watch until the end ? Unfortunately no there’s no part 2 - but we have more videos coming soon with similar completed projects

Wow, big job. I'm sure that sun made 10x more difficult. What advice would you give for someone looking to die and possibly starting up as a contractor?
@ConcreteBVI
@ConcreteBVI 2 года назад
Yes, it sure did make it more difficult. We have come a long way since this job, and if you watch some of our other rubber installation videos (the basketball court ones) you will see the shade structure we build for jobs like this to give us more working time in the extreme heat. With regards to advice for starting up your own business we actually made another video on our channel called “Start a concrete company: Our first 5 years of business in the concrete industry”. Check it out, it should have some useful information in there for you in order to get started. Do you have any construction experience? Are you looking to install just this rubberized service that you saw in this video or other decorative concrete services as well ?
@707fv
@707fv 2 года назад
@@ConcreteBVI I'm here in Florida and believe I could sell this up on top of pool decks in high end neighborhoods. I have some construction experience as a diy with pavers. I've poured concrete in smaller applications but have been looking at this product for some time. I'm considering trying out on my own home as a hands on experience but would love to know tools of the trade and insights to help me along .
@ConcreteBVI
@ConcreteBVI 2 года назад
@@707fv ya this stuff is good on pool decks for sure. Check out the suppliers website it’s www.coveryourugly.com .. all you really need to get started is a hand drill to mix (although depending on the size of your first job renting a mortar mixer will make your life a lot easier), a steel trowel, some xylene and a screed box. They will require you to become a dealer to purchase the product though. Not a lot of work, but will require a phone call to their Head Office in Canada. 1 888 799 3960

I’m about a year late for this video but man this is fantastic. I’ve owned a concrete refinishing company for over 17 years and we are just getting into this in our area. What is that pull machine you’re using to spread out the rub? Great vid

Thank you for watching. Glad you liked the video. It’s called a screed box and cost around $500 USD if I remember correctly. It ensures an even distribution of material / thickness of the coating you’re installing to whatever thickness you need.
