Same here, bro. The only difference is, I have been playing CDLC for a little longer, since March 2017, I already have more than 1200 hours on Rocksmith 2014 on PC.
i needed this video like 3 months ago because my cdlc wasn't working at the time...i gave up and tried RS+ and hated it, so i assumed my rocksmith journey was over...THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO AUUGH
I recently picked up Rocksmith again and knew about CDLC, but my Realtone Cable broke, so i have to use an amp with Mic to play, pretty fun, and you can hear the notes better. loved this tutorial, and just subbed when writing this comment.. Keep up the great work, dude!

Late to the game, got Rocksmith 2014 on release and only dabbled slightly. Been getting into guitar more (Was a Bass player 10 or so years ago). Gonna use this to teach myself some songs to keep myself motivated to keep learning. Thanks for the info!

got a bit late to the party with rocksmith ( was already of the steam store ) still got a bit lucky and was able to get a working key for way to much money. still cheaper then 1 year of rocksmith+. and cant wait to play custom songs
Very nice! Ive had this game in my steam library for years but never played it since I didnt own an electric (I was an acoustic pleb as a kid). Just recently got back into learning guitar and picked up my first electric, but missed out on my chance to grab cherub rock, so im glad you dont need it anymore

Just an FYI for peeps on 8-15-2024. Bought a sealed 2014 version that came with the cable. I redeemed the code inside on Steam with no issues. And it, of course, instantly updated to 2014 remastered.
I only bought my first games PC 2 days before they removed it from being able to be purchased. Luckily something inside me told me to buy Rocksmith 2014 even though I hadn't played Rocksmith since about 2018. Luckily, I knew I wanted custom forge with it and watched your 2021 video on how to get the both of them working on my PC, purchased Cherub Rock and the rest is history. Saw an article a few days later saying it had been removed and then remembered I had watched one of RU-vid videos from when the music broke that they would be taking it down. So thank you Chain Brain; 1. For having an easy to follow video on how to use custom forge. 2. Breaking the news about it being removed from sale. And lastly 3. For being a cool ass dude, hope I can start raiding you once I hopefully get a big enough following on Twitch as I only starting streaming 3 days ago 😅 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I was wondering. During the streams you are downloading songs without closing the game. Does that require an additional mod or was i always able to do that already? Super helpful video! Thanks Chain!
newbie question, i just bought a copy of the game and theres a half second delay between my ingame guitar sound and the actual plucking of my strings. Authentic cable or third party gives me the same result and i cant seem to find a way to reduce it. Is there a fix for this? it makes the game almost unplayable since my rhythm is so fucked compared to the games rhythm. Any advicec?
rocksmith 2014 is not avalible on steam anymore, and buying a key anywhere costs $200+ RS+ is a disaster, required monthly subscription, no fan made customs. Its not a viable replacement. What can we do now?
Have been following these steps, since Cherub Rock has been removed from the Steam store. But the CDLC won't appear in the songlist? Is anyone having the same problem?
Anyone running into the "Virus Detected" for this file, the fix on Windows 10/11 is - Click on your windows start button and type Security Open Windows Security Head to the Virus & Threat Protection tab Click on Manage Settings under Virus & Threat protection settings Turn off "Real-Time Protection" Download it, then turn back on real-time protection after.
so i had it working from this video. then all of a sudden It stopped working it wont load the songs anymore. so I removed all the songs i had downloaded when it was working and still nope. It wont load the song? any ideas how to fix or get around this? has it happened to you? figuring it might have
Very well detailed tutorial. I am a noob in the field tho, and I amconfused with the part that he says you can't get rocksmith 2014 anymore, is it not purchasable on steam? If not, Is there another way to get the game and use this method?
So I updated as the video said to, got the psarc files , but I’m not getting any new CDLC’s I download to show up In game just the ones I already had , they are all in the same folder… any ideas ??
Never knew which file type I was supposed to download, I would tend to just click one and hope it worked. I downloaded a bunch of Breaking Benjamin and was wondering why none of it showed up and I was downloading the Mac files 😂
My rocksmith STILL won't open on my 13900k PC after this video. I'm so frustrated. It gives me a key to put I assume in the game when launched, but ofc, it isn't launching anything... EDIT: I found the dll on discord and put it in the folder, now it works BUT my dlc songs aren't there. I have to imagine because my game isn't in the default c drive install that when the cdlc button is clicked, it wants to install there bu tthe folders don't exist so my cdlc install isn't actually installed?
Hi, I have a quick question. I was playing just 2 days ago and all of the sudden I lost like 95% of the songs I had on the dlc folder. when I go into the actual folder it shows every song, but I can't play them. I tried installing this patch, uninstalled and install it again and I got the same issue. Is it necesary to have the file D3DX9_42.dll? I don't wanto to have to play the the Rocksmith :c

It use to be a need for the custom dlc songs since they would all use the same dlc ID number, Not compleatly sure if thats still needed with the "new" patch but Im returning to this game after years of learning from tabs and confused as to why my custom dlc isnt working xD
Hmm , I have an issue, I cannot use the tool as it says "it does not support pirated versions" I am assuming It's because I cannot launch my game to redeem my license code. So I am stuck in a loop. Game wont boot up.
hey, I have a question because I can't download the CDLC patch from Customsforge. It cancels the download every time. Disabling antivirus and window defender does not help either. What's going on and can you help me with it?
@@Jeans11234567 I managed to fix it, I had to delete an antivirus that was installed on my laptop. Probably worth mentioning in the video, AV must be disabled or deleted because when you run the exe, antivirus deleted the dll file that the exe put in the rocskmith folder. It works fine after I disable and delete the antivirus, disabling alone works bdw, but I deleted it just to be sure.
I have rocksmith 2014 disc for Mac and like you said it won’t start because of the bit while Mac is using 64bit. Am I out of options? Obviously I can’t buy rocksmith on steam I just have the disc and the install rocksmith icon has a prohibitory symbol over it and says developer of this app needs to update it
Hmm, maybe double check the installer to make sure it worked. Also if you have an oculus attached to your PC I've heard that causes issues, also Elgato products sometimes cause issue
I have all the songs I downloaded added to the dlc folder and for years they worked but now I only get a few showing up, when the files are the exact same ones that worked ever since 2016 when I first started playing Rocksmith. I dont know- what else to do, I have 1800 songs in the dlc folder and there are only like 90 songs showing
Hopefully some years down the line there will be an accesible version of this for pirated versions, mainly bc getting RS2014 legally from here onwards will be harder and more expensive as time goes on, it would be such a shame if such software became unaccesible. PS: Not my case, I've been rocking RS2014 a full year now.
Since we have to have this discussion the repack everyone will eventually get has the DLL which is how all the content is going to work with it, in short it's not an issue at all except for RSMods and RS ASIO
If you're installing FitGirl's repack, you can totally get CDLC up and running without a hitch. I haven't given it a full test spin yet; I've only tried it in Disconnected Mode since my guitar hasn't arrived. But up to this point, everything's running smoothly
@@DanAtmajaI just downloaded fitgirls and I run the game and it's got some weird audio issue where it's all mad loud and distorted upon startup, and the screen size for the game is smaller than I'd like, considering just buying a steam key despite the price
Just a bit of info as I’m here today. I actually was able today to get hold of a steam key for Rocksmith 2014 remastered. So it is still possible to get the game in steam. Wasn’t cheap though!
can't download window's security says a virus is detected. Had to do a bit more than you did and temporarily disable both chrome's protection and window's just to download. Then override like you did upon install.
My game is giving an error where it says that the device isnt set up for audio exclusivity or some sht like that and i cant hear the guitar. Any fixes?
when i want to download a song, i always get the notification "Already in Collection. Redownloading"... but i have nothing in my downlöoad folder... dafuq am i doing wrong ?
i cant download from Steam, i did downloades from a repack site Fitgirl and i dowloaded the .psar files and it shows the song in the menu even i can ear thue music but when selected and after tuning screen game crashes, any suggestions?
will this work on steam deck/linux? I've been playing on steam via mac for years but never figured out how to get cdlc to work on there. fingers crosses there a proton hack or something.
I have a problem, i have downloaded the file, installed it, made my antivirus program to not delete it... but for some reason when i start the game it crashes my pc (blue screen)... even did that before i installed the patch like 4/5 times (one time it just crashed the game). Do you (or anyone else) know why this happens? I did have the dll file before but that never worked and crashed the game and before that the game did run without any problems. oh and this is the only game i have that crashes my pc with blue screen.
So is there any actual way of getting cutom songs or playing more songs on the 2014 ps4 version i literally just started playing again and i heard that theres this cdlc thing going on and ots kinda a bummer now
I get an issue that says " could not find a part of the path" on the thing that says "Click here to Unlock CDLC" Edit: NM, You can't select the DLC folder, you have to select the Rocksmith folder, the way they word it confused me. Otherwise it goes to Rocksmith/dlc/dlc which doesn't exist
