The process of installing the Snort intrusion detection and prevention system on a pfSense firewall, and some of the basic configuration options needed to get it to work
I am a new student and I have to install snort on the pfsense. And I have a problem, the professor block the available packages' section it doesn't show. The is any other way to install snort?
Before you try other ways of installing, double check that the pfsense has a proper network configuration. If DNS isn't working or your pfsense isn't up to date, nothing will show in the package manager. There is a command line installation process: "pkg install -fy pfSense-pkg-snort". However, there is still a lot of configuration necessary.

Double check your DNS is working using Diagnostics -> DNS Lookup. Your DNS server IP address is under System -> General Setup. If it's not a DNS issue, try updating your pfSense under System -> Update.
