Installing SSD instead of ordinary HDD is good decision almost in any case. This upgrade'll greatly decrease time of loading any program from laptop storage to memory, because almost any moder laptop CPU loads data to RAM faster, than any laptop HDD can read. Thanks for the video. Why does ASUS make it so complicated... Replacing a hard drive with SSD is so common nowadays, it should be much simpler operation.

Just a quick question: to add a second drive, like a SSD, you would have to replace the optical drive with a 9,5 mm or 12 mm caddy for the X554LD model? Thanks!

Sorry, I don't remember what the type of optical drive in this laptop.

@@SA-po2gy Hi, I am also planning to replace my optical drive with a SSD on my laptop (which has a similar version to yours). Did you see great improvements? And do you know what SATA connection does your laptop have?

@@ancafaur8525 hello! It has SATA 3. Don't let some stores fool you into buying a more expensive "SATA 3 caddy" over other SATA caddies (adapters). All SATA ports are the same. With an SSD, you realy see a difference in everything you do. The laptop boots-up two times faster or even faster. Even the internet browsing is faster. Word, Excel and PowerPoint load at least 2-3 times faster. As a tip, for this laptop you don't need to buy the fastest SSD you can find like a Samsung or Crucial drive. An Adata or Kingston A400 SSD will do just fine. They are half the price or cheaper but are 20-30% slower but for a laptop it's more than enough. You don't have the CPU and other components as fast, to use the extra performance offered by the more expensive drives.
