man luke i really like your purist subaru pasion. it is refreshing to see this vids in contrast with all the subie bro content you find in the internet nowadays. keep it up!!
Nice way to do it from scratch. One thing I def love about the facelift interiors over the pre-facelift is the plastic door cards instead of fiber board. I have found just adding some super glue to the fiber board can add stiffness for the door clips though if the holder spots have been damaged.
Totally agree!!! That fiber board is terrible over the long-term because it absorbs moisture so readily and inevitably ends up warping, which makes the fit less than ideal. Great idea about the glue! The facelift models still do have some fiber board parts, rear package tray for example, and I’ve been thinking about how to reinforce / preserve it (cause mine is falling apart). Love your idea about the glue, was also thinking of coating with commercial 3M spay glue or maybe used fiberglass resin? Kind of leaning toward the resin, if it works well for fiberglass, can’t see why it wouldn’t work the same to fill all the pores of the fiber board too. More on this for sure... thanks and cheers buddy!!! 👊
@@SubaruONLY Yeah honestly any sort of glue or epoxy should do wonders to keep the fibers together. Super glue is just my quick fix for when one of the little holes for the door clips has been busted out and I need it to actually hold the clip, hah. Great vid!
@@SubaruONLY Oh and I will say they hold up surprisingly well on the doors until they get some rust holes in the outer panel, hahaha. The moisture barrier is super critical!
God damn those doors look fresh. I need to find them finishing covers the square one and the rounded one also I can’t find the little dot one that goes in the door latch over the door. But I’m sure there is something out there. Thanks for the vid
Thank you for touching on the clips in the switch panel, and as I previously said I would say, you are a god. Now I just need to figure out a way to fix one of those side plastic clips that broke off my switch panel :(
@@SubaruONLY LHD Coupe. My passenger switch panel popped one of the small plastic clips off. I was originally thinking to get some thin adhesive foam sheets to put in between the switch and the door card to keep it from moving/rattling but am also contemplating trying to make a 3D printed clip and glue that in the old place.
Hear ya buddy. Seems like west coast (in US) is the only place to get clean non-rusted GCs. Think the passenger side panel for LHD GCs may still be available via Subaru dealer network. I’ll check and let you know. One last question: Which color you need, Tan or Black switch panel?
Hey brother, got a question. Does the door panels gorna 97 impreza fits a 2000 impreza? Would all the holes line up? Bcuz I found door panels for a 1997 and mine is a 2000 and they are different, but from the look of it it looks like it would fit
Love it man! Kinda been thinking about something along that line...Working on pulling together the format for a Weekly Live Show, gonna have some local subie friends here to join/coordinate and via virtual platforms like YT and FB, everyone else in the Subaru community can join in the weekly subie hang / Q&A discussion. Will be awesome, I’m super excited about it and it is gonna happen - STAY TUNED!
How will I fix the auto lock mechanism which is locked on the passenger side with the door closed? (Thanks to the 11 year old playing with the master switch 😫) Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks 😊
Hey Richard! I did crack open the old album / stack of photos. Need to scan these suckers so I can send them, will get those digitized one way or another today - keep an eye out in your email! 👊
Yes, car was originally a NA 2.5RS. Swapped with 2005 USDM WRX EJ205. People are WRONG, swapping a Turbo motor into a NA car is 100% the RIGHT call. Those people just projecting their own fears - ignore that nonsense and build your dream car!!! I’ll be here to help too!!! 👊
