The biggest issue i face using these brackets is that they are also 3 inches wide and unless you hit a doubled girder truss you will only get one set of holes to land solidly on a single truss and the remaining 6 screws or nails only hit sheathing. I use them regularly but run 10 3inch simpson strong screws in a straight line. Havent died yet praise the lord!

First set top and bottom nail in center of truss or rafter. The middle nails will land in the correct spot every time. If bottom nail misses, move right or left ¾"

On extremely cold days I would take a heater to the tile so it becomes more malleable and less brittle. Decreases the chances of it snapping and being replaced.

If the dwelling is a 2 story only, straight gable, 14/12 both sides - how do you get up to the ridge to begin with??

Unfortunately, on a metal roof, you have to use something else. These brackets are mostly permanently installed.

On metal roofs there is a cinch lock block, it’s like a clamp, and pinch’s metal roof ribs. They are insanely strong , but I trust this more then that one. Why? That’s because I’ve seen the metal one only has two bolts come lose, and peel a rib apart on the metal roof, I was installing solar panels when I seen it.

This device works great on shingle roofs but if you can remove the tiles you can try to install it. On Amazon you can also buy another device that attaches to the top of the roof, and that is not screwed in.

Would you ever recommend only using screws or do you also use nails because of the sheer strength the nails add incsae the screws snap off?

Personally, I use screws, because it is much easier to work with them. However, nails are more popular and you don't always have a screwgun and screws on the roof. Thanks for your question 🙂

Hi. I think so, but you need to see if water has a chance to get under other shingles after removing this shingle. In my case I also used it for a few days.

If the chimney is solid and you work below it probably yes. In a few days I will add a video about how to install adjustable roof brackets. This is another item that is cheap and makes working on the roof a pleasure.

Hi! This type of anchor is prepared to work as a temporary. You can find online permanent ones, but they are mounted under the shingle.

Well, that's not the only way to be safe on a roof. We have jacks and boards, hook ladders, hell just an old couch cushion would be fine with them dormers right under you.!!.

This roof was not steep, but normally you install it exactly as you wrote. You sit on top with your feet on either side of the roof.

Roofer who work on the roof every day do not use such toys. This solution is more for someone who does not feel confident on the roof.

So you just drill through your shingles? I think I would rather anchor on the other side of the roof and throw my ropes over the peak. What happens when you get finished to the top? Do you anchor onto fresh shingles while your doing the peak? This setup is not for me. I pwuld rather trust ropes tied to my F150 and tossed over the roof. Lol. Honestly I have never used ropes, I just watch what I step on and keep a low posture. Home roofer, not contractor.

My roofer friend paid attention for 20+ years, until the day he stopped and died. Everyone can do what he wants. I do not force anyone to use this device after all. Half of the views of this video are as suggested video on the news of the Chicago accident, where the roofer fell from the roof and died.

I use roof jacks and 2x6 walk boards. Knock on wood 33 years and haven't fell off yet. Plus I don't have to drag a rope behind me. Careless people fall.

It all depends on the roof, but if you do not have access to the top, it is best to put the adjustable roof brackets above the gutter then use the second ladder you climb to the top of the roof. I will record a video on how to install it.
