Maybe someone will be interested: I tried connecting to the phone from a laptop via VNC and via X11 forwarding - there is not much difference in the smoothness of the xfce4.
@@wallyorapper After installing termux-x11 and native xfce4, connect via ssh with x11-forwarding. Under windows I used MobaXTerm with built-in X server. On the phone, before doing this, you need to add these lines to “$PREFIX/etc/ssh/ssh_config”: ForwardX11Trusted yes X11Forwarding yes Don't forget to restart sshd.
I have watch this and similar videos several times a day for a week before i finally took the plunge. Not having a bluetooth mouse, i use a firestick remote as a mouse😊.
I got only around 1.5 GB space left on my Android TV - is this small enough to fit? I read that external USB storage can't be used well on non rooted devices...
You can install Termux native in that space. As you commnent external storage (like an USB pen drive) can't be accessed without root but microSD cards and internal storage should
Thanks @LinuxDroidMaster for your response but can you make a course on nmap and other kali Linux tools on termux and their uses from basic to advanced pls i request you
Thanks @LinuxDroidMaster for your response but can you make a course on nmap and other kali Linux tools on termux debian desktop and their uses from basic to advanced pls i request you ❤❤❤❤
Do you know the difference...like say nmap for example whats different running it inside say proot ubuntu vs just installing it to termux anx running it
Do I need connect a bluetooth keyboard to type? Can I forward a remote X session to it? I tried in the termux side 'ssh user@dest_ip -X' then in the remove side 'export DISPLAY=source_ip:0' but no luck.
I use a bluetooth mouse and bluetooth keyboard so no problem with that. About the X session I haven't used it but maybe it is not possible. I would try first with a proot environment and then with Termux native
I did this a year ago on a budget phone and was amazed how good it was (thru slowish WiFi)... it was just awesome! That phone died, and now using a phone with similar specs (a bit more memory). But even when I just SSH into the phone and it is sluggish (my other phone was quick in terminal). Just installing everything to try XFCE again, but I fear something is wrong with the performance... HTOP says about 0 zero usage for all 8 cores... so it's network related I guess. Never got sound (as I remember it) before... does VNC (client/server) support pulseaudio? I wish there where some sort of XFCE4 Termux (no PROOT) manager for programs though... but it's such a cool way to make use of an old phone... ....edit It was wakelock... that made it super sluggish... giving Termux wakelock rights made all the difference!
This is a really cool way of using Android devices, you can setup a torrent server, your own web page, etc. About VNC I don't know if it supports audio to be honest but Termux X11 should work fine without doing almost anything
Check the other comment and if you are on a lower version of android check this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1Vtxi7TxxlE.htmlsi=nQM0ga_3N_D3Ad4Z
You should not put --no-sandbox chromium works without that and chromium needed the sand box to stabilize security and etc I don't remember. Using --no-sanbox is very dangerous.
@@LinuxDroidMaster thanks , well it basically crashes a lot when youre tryibg to download something but nvm it can still be used for hack the box or programming in general
I want to use a desktop browser on my phone (firefox or chrome)(I currently use Samsung DeX as a desktop PC), what is the difference between doing this via native Termux or via Debian Proot?
I have a description in my repo with the differences hahaha but if it is only to run a Browser Termux native will have better performance. Also in case you only want to have a desktop browser I would recommend you checking Kiwi browser for Android, you can set the "show as desktop" by default and install all chrome extensions
There is no store, you can install browsers, vs code, GIMP, and a few more programs. There should be some documentation on the official github about it
bro, I've pendrive and otg...is there any way to use it as an automatic adb commander? like.. I just plug in with otg on my phone with usb debugging on..abd it'll launch adb TCP ..then I'll able to debug wirelessly....?
To detect USB probably you need chroot (by default Termux doesn't work well with USB I think) then maybe you can program some kind of script to do what you want but not sure if it is possible at all
@@studio_paser_21 In Termux native I didn't find any office suite, the best apprach was installing libreoffice with mobox: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SfCKHWUwAr0.htmlsi=KaDWY5UqoyS_8vlC
I watched the video again and got it, I started xfce4 very well, but when I put the wget command in, the dps options don't appear, so I'm out of storage, pls help. And to terminate xfce4?
I installed it and it works correctly but if I use it for more time it will end up saying Not connected on Termux X11 or the sound would stop working randomly. Is there any way to make it more stable?
Could it be related to the phantom processes? (Android 12 or higher) Check this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1Vtxi7TxxlE.htmlfeature=shared
Same issue but i found the culprit it was the battery saver go to app settings termux and termux x11 and enable run in background and do not optimize your phone it will set it again as smart power saving
In general you can't. You can use a command to run an app from the proot-distro container inside termux native but it is the same as running it in proot
I am on a fire tablet💀 yes it works very very well (its obviously still Android of course) how do I remove the little sub menu like the up and down arrows I have a external keyboard.
Sorry for this but another 2 questions. How do I change my wallpaper its not going as expected. Also how do I fix error opening directory "/" permission denied for the file system?

Amazing video. Has anyone managed to change the language in XFCE? I did it without any problems in Debian proot but in native Termux you can't use sudo without having the tablet rooted. The package locales is also not available. Maybe there is a manual way to do this...
As you mentioned limited functionality but can you be more specific please 😊. Really looking forward to install it on galaxy tab s9 fe for starting to learn coding specifically web dev
There are some programs that do not work (proot has better compatibility but is still not 100% compatible with everything). Anyway is a good option to have on a tablet
After starting XFCE from the script, the desktop and mouse cursor will freeze after around 5 second (but not killed) and it will resume if I lost focus (by switching to another android app or just by displaying app list/swipe from bottom edge up) and set the focus back to XFCE4, it will resume for another 5 second then freeze again. rinse and repeat. I tried disabling battery optimization, allow draw over another app and the problem persist. Any idea how to proceed? Note: Huawei Matepad
@@LinuxDroidMaster this fix it for me: go to system settings - App & services - Apps - Termux - Power usage details - Launch settings uncheck Manage automatically and check Run in background
Wow, I have no idea what just happened to the audio on debian and termux-desktop. They were working fine before but I just discovered they are not working now. Any suggestions?
@@mr.againstOdds In termux native you don't need to enable hardware acceleration (we could say that is is enabled), only necessary on proot/chroot if i'm not mistaken
