As airbag is a very sensitive part, a professional should kill 12v battery first and then switch off main battery too to be safe

Hello friend, I advise you to leave the central bolt screwed in before detaching the steering wheel. As you did, you risk pulling the steering wheel towards you and tearing the spiral contact wires. If you leave the bolt inserted just loose you are calm that nothing happens

The display is plug and play unit so I don’t think that will void any warranty but yoke steering wheel replace your OEM steering wheel which mean it won’t be covered by Tesla warranty since you take stock one out. Idk if Hansshow has been shipping reviews better versions with OEM parts or not, but the current version you can actually buy from their store DOES NOT use genuine OEM parts. Everything including the wheel base in a Chinese copy. Seems like they are still showing images with the OEM base on their product listing on the webpage. Got mine today, and it doesn't have any OEM parts. Bait and switch idk...

Expert? He did not disconnect the 12V battery. He used a Torx bit on a hex bolt. He didn't disconnect the purple plug before pulling off the steering wheel and could have pulled the wires from the connector. There is no need to bang on the steering wheel, just rock it side to side. The ground wires for the horn are not for the scroll wheels. I guess he learns as he goes...😮

My Tesla Model 3 is of 2023. Before replacing steering wheel is it enough shut down power from touch screen? Many videos shows necessity disconnect low power battery and main power battery. How this can do impact in car electronics and computer after connection of power again after the replace? Thank you.

This doesn’t impact the car’s electrical and battery at all. They had to turn off the main power or disconnect 12V and main battery is to prevent the airbag from accidentally deployed while you we’re trying to remove it. Had mine installed and so far, it's freakin' fantastic!!!!! Had it installed at a shop....which....they claimed it took "3 hours to do!" LMAO. (they were charging for labor by the hour so, guess it made sense for them to take their sweet time!

I’m sure if Tesla would directly allow to install aftermarket parts. The display is plug and play so you can remove it anytime you want. It’s not permanently attached to the car. As for authorized installer, I don’t think there is one that actually authorized by Tesla. Their installation cost is crazy expensive. I was quoted $300 installation fee each for power frunk and the Hansshow F9 cluster display. No thx, installed them myself.

There have been enough issues that Musk finally gave the OK to allow owners to swap the yoke for a steering wheel. Remember when the yoke first came out, he insisted there would be no option for a steering wheel. I knew it would cause problems and hurt sales.

@@rkgsd that Batmobile steering wheel might’ve looked good on a drawing board but it has ZERO practicality and consumers realized that 30 minutes after driving that vehicle and some of them said dam.. what have I done cuz the learning curve is too much compared to what’s usual and practical. Elon can possibly revisit that dumb mistake in about 50 years when flying cars may be present.

I installed my new yoke for my model y 2020 and now it’s showing steering wheel scroll buttons and horn unavailable. Service required to restore functionality. I did not disconnect the 12v battery when installing and I believe that’s why the error code popped up. Now my horn doesn’t work or the scroll wheels. Can you help!?

Did you swap out the buttons to buttons that came with your car? If you check in the video the shop suggested to take out the buttons that came with yoke and replace with your original buttons from your car. Other issue I don’t think it would cause by not disconnecting 12V battery. The horn might cause by improperly installing back the airbag. I will try to reach out to the shop and see if they would have any suggestions.

@@dadstoyscars you got it bro! I took the old buttons out and installed and it was good to go. The yolk I bought came with all the insides so the first time I installed it I thought it was just plug and play but apparently the new buttons weren’t recognized?

Nice video but I would not risk to do it myself. 😀 The front screen does not come by default and you have to get it along with the Yoke Steering Wheel. You did not talk anything about the cost of the product plus installation for it. Did I miss something? BTW, I have also reviewed Tesla Model Y's Hidden features on my channel and looking to get the Yoke Steering Wheel.

Granted one should be driving with both hands on the wheel and should be at the 2 and 10 and positions, but this wheel would be uncomfortable for long drives as you pretty much don't have much hand positions you can change up to to get comfortable. Would be a no go for me.

I actually find it more comfortable on a long drive than short drive. Because I can just rest my hand on the bottom left or right of steering wheel while the car is in Autopilot. I had the Yoke in my Plaid Model S and absolutely hated it. Replaced it with aftermarket round wheel. The Yoke is a bunch of hype that is just not practical nor comfortable for everyday driving!

I doubt the insurance will accept the modification since it is related to the safety of the driver (i.e. airbag). So I guess do as your own risk.

When they installed the yoke steering wheel they didn't change the OEM airbag. They use the original OEm airbag from my car and put it back on Yoke steering wheel. Thank you for watching!

@@dadstoyscars Thanks for clarifying. However, my concern did the federal agency NHTSA test the airbag installed in the Yoke yet? I know it is the OEM airbag but when it is installed into another hardware, it works differently and very risky for not being tested and approved by a government safety agency.

@@dl4434 They plugged it back in the same spot used the same wire nothing change. The only thing changed was the housing which actually from Tesla. The aftermarket company bought Tesla OEM steering wheel and only changed the handle part from round to yoke and kept the center housing the same which came from Tesla.

I recommend to check with your car insurance and get response in writing. I personally do not take the risk for anything related to safety. I am sure Tesla will not accept the car warranty if you modified the car. Even you change a light inside the car. I talked to Tesla service rep and he confirmed it.

Is so after just trying it. I think we had better luck with a Allen key. You want to go just a little bit bigger than the whole and it will poppet right out. We just tried with a screwdriver and sat there For about 20 minutes thinking that we had it but it wasn't it. Also if you get popped out just a little bit and you think popping it back in to repopt it out as a good idea it is not. Because what happened was the horn just continued to keep going until we got it and we smacked it a couple times and it stopped. Is b****** forcing it for a while we were just about to Disconnect the battery. Is hopeless help someone.

I was scammed and so infuriated. My yoke stick came in but was not a Tesla yoke stick or just poorly built it took me about 5 hours to get it even together and when I went to snap in the horn and air bag it would not fit. Please if someone can help me escalate this and make hanshow accountable for this I would greatly appreciate the help. I waited 2-3 weeks just to waste 5-7 hours of my day and now spend anther 5-7 hours to put back the only one due to having work early in the morning tomorrow. This is just so disappointing and a waste of money .

Steering wheel is broken after 9 mos? This new yoke use most of the hardware from your OEM steering wheel and the only thing was changed was the house and handle of the wheel. All the buttons and airbag were from my original steering wheel. So I don’t for seen how will it break. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe for future contents.🙏😃
