A great unit!! My husband installed it with no issues. He asked I start up the video.. ran it while he was installing it..stopping it etc. as he went on. We bought two more for our other bedrooms, they are very nice…. Extremely quiet! Bravo! The best part, we bought ours at COSTCO, great price!
Got this last year and am also quite happy with it. Definitely recommend saving this video for future reference, as I couldn't quite remember how to put it together. It'll go by way faster next year with the foam already cut and if you note the specific positions for your bracket.
I installed a 10,000 btu unit without help in 2 hours. Easy and problem free. Everything fit perfectly. I'm buying another. This thing is incredible. The designers of the unit are exceptionally talented. Never thought I'd see a BLDC motor in a window AC unit.
Ur probably a bot or a paid shill. Because this unit seems flimy and the dc inverter compressor has a horribly annoying high pitched squeal. Read about this unit people before buying it.
Sorry you don't like yours. Another brand might suit you better. I personally recommend these to anyone I know looking for another window AC cause I love mine. I was getting ready to install ductless minisplits into my house before I found these @@metaldetectingnmore8763
Just finished installing my new Midea U air conditioner. Thank you for this instruction video, it was very useful (combined with the included instruction manual). The support bracket, side foam, and overall sealing are very well designed! My only (small) complaint is that there was slightly not enough window sealing foam. My Side Arm Foam pieces were cut to 7.25 inches each and I followed the instructions to start the window sealing foam slightly above the bottom of them. Afterwards, there was not enough remaining to cover the bottom of the window's lower sash. However, there was only about half an inch on each side that wasn't sealed and I was able to cut off some of the extra window sash foam to stick into those two spots. So functionally, this wasn't a big issue at all. But if a Midea employee sees this comment, I suggest increasing the length of the Window Sealing foam by 1-2 inches.
Hello @Slickrick_17, We're glad to hear that you're pleased with your purchase. Thanks for your feedback. We'll pass this along to our product development team. Have a nice day!
My windows were very different due to age, but this video did give me the basics of what to do and was very helpful for my installation. This ac is fantastic and the best install and most stable out of any ac I've had. Thank uou
Dad ordered one and it should be here in 15 minutes thru amazon. 12,000 BTU unit. Watched the video and the install seems very straightforward. Will be back to comment if i remember.
For comprehension, I watch the video once, but at 50% playback speed. The background music did sound bad at that speed though. (I watch most instructional videos on RU-vid at 75% playback speed by default).
Costco has these on super sale right now: $279 ($50 off) when Amazon is selling for $450. I was so happy with one, that we bought a second. The video really adds to the manual ... it was a bit tricky with the installation but I like how many "safeguards" there are to keep the unit in place. Super important since mine is for a 2nd story window. Highly recommend this unit so far: quiet, small, and feels so secure with the U-shaped design.
Impressed with my 8000btu unit. Its quiet, installation was easy and while the app is kinda basic looking it integrates well in a smart home. Great job guys.
This install was quite painful but I do appreciate the many, many extra steps to ensure safety and an obnoxious degree of stability. Will buy one again but man, it took a lot of effort.
Hello @WorkingOnThingswithJay, We apologize for any difficulties you experienced during the installation process; however, we're pleased to know that you were able to install the unit successfully. We're happy to hear that you're enjoying your unit. Have a wonderful day!
I just installed my unit. The installation was a bit involved but worth doing and a few minor steps were missed in video. Like removing the screws before setting the anti-tilt bars. Also in the video its worth showing how to slide the AC onto the tracks. I am a handy person so none of these posed much of an issue bit I’m sure others would appreciate a completed illustration. Also I think its worth noting that I still needed to install AC window insulation foam. Every window is different from the illustrations so there are gaps that won’t be covered with the stock foam that was provided.

I recently bought my Midea 1hp window AC. The brackets n screws are no where? They advise me to put the foam in between to avoid noise from outside. Is this correct?
This video really helped vs the printed instructions. Thank you! Only grip I really had was my window was around 24 or 25 inches wide. For that, there really should be 2 of the shorter bars. The longer bar has to be in to the opposite side hole, making it off center and not the greatest fit on the short side. Add like $10 to the AC for it (not much vs the total cost). Other than that, nice machine! One person in our house likes a really quiet room for sleeping, so this should work perfect. Ty!
@@MideaAmerica Satisfied? Are you an idiot? He just told you the bracket does not fit and you are saying he is satisfied!?!? I have the same issue and why wouldn't you test it for the size window you specify? \
Agree 100%, installed mine in a 23" wide window and kept thinking there was something wrong with my understanding of the instructions, but nope, you're either not going to have a perfectly centered unit in a narrow window, or the left extension arm's spring pin won't have a hole to snap into.
I have to agree that this was very frustrating to install. I used the video as my primary source, and one missing step (remove the screws before sliding the anti-tilt brackets) plus some annoying finagling with the foam I had to cut (they said to add 1/4" but my measurements were spot on and required no additional foam) were my main sticking points. My window has a roof just outside of it, not a wall, so I had to flip the support arms around to rest on the roof -- thankfully doing so still resulted in about a 1 degree tilt outside (according to my phone's measure app) and tonight is the first real test of it. On the plus side, it is exceptionally quiet compared to the usual window units I buy, and seems to be cooling quite well. The big test for me is going to be whether I get musty/moldy odors after it rains. I'd suggest adding some support arms for different window/roof configurations and a lot more foam/strips for making mistakes with.

Even when I know all the steps ahead of time this thing is such a pain in the ass to install that next year I’d rather spend as much as $20k getting some sort of central ac installed than do this shit for a third year Great unit though
Bruhhhh!! I came here just to say this! I’m sweaty af sitting here typing this after finally getting it installed. Was ready to go until I get to the anti tilt arms!! Then I was all sweaty fumbling with the screwdriver, face sweating sweat all on the window as I have my face pressed up against it to try and pull the arms out! Sheesh!! 🥵
@@rayzerot Yes. I can type here that it's "quieter" or even the "quietest" window AC unit you can buy, but that really doesn't communicate just how quiet this things is, especially if it's installed in a late model window. It is probably two orders of magnitude quieter than every other window AC unit. No exaggeration, no hyperbowl, it's so quiet you'll wonder what the heck the other window AC companies have even been doing for the last 20 years. They're selling us literally the same units they were selling us in the early 2000's except with a smart chip in them. Meanwhile these guys are selling us this brilliant piece of modern engineering for slightly more money. This AC unit makes a laughing stock of the competition. You won't even hear it running unless it's dead quiet in the room.
Installation was not easy, but the combo of directions+ video and some braun from my husband, and we got it done. Took a while to figure out that the screw for the tilt lock is already in & needs to be removed and then reinstalled Well worth the extra work; it's even quieter than i thought possible. You can hardly tell it's running, except the room is cooler.
Hello @pattieodonnell723, Thank you for your comment. We apologize for the challenging installation process. However, we're pleased to hear that you were successful in installing a quieter, cooler device with the help of written instructions, video guides, and your husband's assistance. Have a great day!
@@MideaAmerica Gotta say it's the quietest A/C I've ever experienced. I've turned the LED light off (using the app) and my husband asks "is this on? I can't hear it."
The midea u is my first-ever window air conditioner unit. This video was a life ever! Just left it on loop while i was installing, and didn't really ever have to refer to the paper manual (which i almost always read)!
It’s a nice unit, efficient and quiet. Take note that the 1” screws will not fit the holes of the bottom section of the horizontal bracket. You will need to widen these before you can use the 1” screws. This can add a level of frustration to a fairly confusing install. That said, I think the unit is worth it.
Hello, TheBernice77. We are happy to hear you are enjoying your unit. For questions or concerns regarding installation, please reach out to us at DigitalSupport@midea.com.
They shouldn't require widening at all. That's not normal. For my installation it actually isn't long enough, but the holes are plenty wide and to spec. Since they were not long enough though we used nearly two and a half inch to secure it.
@@Irondrgntp Perhaps it’s something they fixed in later units. I read of others having the same problem prior to installing, so I was prepared for it. I agree about the screws being short, but ran with it.
I bought this today me and wife installed in about 45 minutes. This video helps and mine was newest version. It's got to be the coldest window unit made. I have two story home but one central unit. So to make the upstairs cool without freezing downstairs this seems to be the ticket.
Great video - thank you! Perfect install over the manual. We bought two of these units: the 12,000 BTU and the 10,000 BTU. When we watched the video the first time, it took about a little over an hour. But the second time around (with the video), it took about 45 minutes. The reviewer (Esper Wyrenth) is correct. No need to add the 1/4 inch to the foam). These are amazing air conditioning units. And I love how quiet these are!
This is my 3rd unit. Bought one last year and loved it. Costco had them on-sale and bought 2 more. Did take me 3 plus hours each to get in. I love them....fyi Im a woman and did it bt myself.
I made some quick SPL measurements before replacing another unit with this one. At least on full blast, the midea unit measures somewhat close to the old unit. The midea has a constant low hum, which I prefer to the high pitch squealing of the old unit. My measurements are pretty rough, but I'd say it's a 5dBa improvement with the midea once the room has reached normal temperature again. I think it's funny how the instructions for lipped seals is just like, welp, don't use those two screws because they won't work. I put a 2x4 against my lipped seal and screwed it into the sill, then installed the unit onto that. I wasn't comfortable or sure whether the lips on my sill would hold the weight well. I do think there may be room for improvement - if there was some rubber insulated mounting there may be less sound transfer into the building. The outside angled support arms have rubber feet, but the cotter pins could use a rubber ring or mount. The bottom of the unit could have rubber where it mates with the support bracket. I may have myself to blame because the lipped sill probably transfers much less sound, and not much sound is going to make it through the extension arms. By using a 2x4 I provide a solid transmission path to the building.
The istallation is super easy. It's just that the instructions can be overcomplicated. As long as everything is screwed in in the right order, you're all set. Best AC I've ever had.
Hello, @JoshuaCastillo6309. Thank you for your feedback and for being part of our family! We're so glad you've been enjoying your unit. Have a great day!
Watch out installing the sash bracket! The outer screw went in without issue but when I put the inner screw in it hit the glass inside the panel and cracked it in multiple directions.

This video was very very helpful. I wanted to buy one of 8,000 or 10,000 BTU models in June, but then there was a heat wave and all my local stores were out of them until the start of July! I found this much more time-consuming to install than previous window AC's that I have bought, but I did finally get it installed and going. It's been running for about 30 minutes now, and so far I'm happy with it. 🙂 The window I put this in was basically the perfect size for the short right-side extension arm. I really like that I feel very confident that the AC is firmly installed right now, but I worry it will be even more time-consuming to re-install when I go to do it next year or the year after that. There are a lot of things I like about this (so far!), but I wish it was simpler to install. I do realize it must be quite a challenge to make an AC wish can be securely and firmly installed in the wide range of windows which exist. When I ordered this I expected that next year I'd buy a second one of these to replace the (still working) window AC in another room in my house. Now I'm not quite so sure I'll do that.
@@ostapbender5791 Bingo. This thing is a mess. In the northeast taking this out and putting it back in every year has been a pain. If I lived where you could leave it in all year its probably okay but I also don't like you can't block out the sun completely because there is always window exposed, which brings in more heat from the sun.
I just installed the 8,000 btu model in the other end of my house. The 12,000 btu model w/heat has been a real champ, so I've doubled down. The install is a bit lengthy and tedious, but wasn't as painful my second time around. The Wife is pleased and I'm chillin now! [edit]] oh yeah, this is my second unit purchased at Costco Direct Online. Great price, warranty, and fast delivery!
When we turned it on, it worked for about 5 minutes, then turned off and flashed "EC 07." I noticed the condenser fan wasn't spinning. I opened the compressor housing and took out a 2" by 4" piece of sticky black goo/resin/insulation that was sitting on the bottom of the compressor housing, blocking the fan from rotating. Once the black resin was removed, the A/C worked normally.
Yes the installation instructions are quite wordy but I didn’t think they were that bad. My issue was that the screws were too big for the holes in the bracket. I have a flat sill and needed to use the 1” screws to stabilize. Too thick to use with the holes in the bracket. Now I have to pray I have the correct screws

Just received mine and was fairly easy to install. I really like the motor being on the outside which makes it quiet on the inside. One small pet peeve is there are no handholds on the box. UPS delivery driver was flipping it over and over going up the steps. One question, do you make a cover for the outdoor section?
Hello Bay. Very happy to hear that you received your new AC however, sorry to hear about the delivery. We don't offer covers here at midea.com. Please let us know if we can help via Facebook at m.me/MideaAmerica. Have a great day!
@@emjayay You should report them because from what I understand it's not good to flip over at AC at all!! You supposed to store them in the flat position.. with everything facing the right way.
Why I like Amazon. Saw delivery today on my ring cam. Two guys carefully brought it from the truck and placed it at the door facing up the right direction.
Agree with the comment below about the challenge with 24in window openings. Not enough holes for the left bracket to be centered. I actually had to drill into one of the smaller holes on the bracket itself and slide that metal clip into the new hole. Shortens the left bracket. In addition for some reason my ac unit was off center. The two tracks on the bottom of the unit are 8 inches apart but had to make thr right bracket 9 inches to the end and the left 7 inches for the ac unit to sit snug on the channels. Was more difficult than expected. Lots of tiny cracks that need to be sealed still. This probably works better with a bigger window.
Question, i am about to purchase this from costco, can it be left in the window through winter? It looks painful difficult to install and maybe as hard to take out after the season.
I don’t understand why some people think the installation is complicated. Yes, as you would expect, it took a few hours, but I’m very happy with the results. The design of the unit is excellent, and so is the manual and feature set. Room for improvement? There always is: even if the AC is pretty quiet, there is a low-frequency vibration that’s transmitted to the wall, so it ends up being audible and a little annoying. Another one: all foam gaskets and blocks are of dubious quality/appearance (they scream “Made in China”, which is not obvious for the rest of the excellent unit). Bottom line: I would recommend this product, and I would buy it again for myself, but at the same time I think there is a little room for improvement.
Hi @rl4bzs, Thank you for your feedback, We'll pass this along to our product development team. We're delighted to hear that you are pleased with your purchase. Have a great day!
I was interested in this unit for some time , I finally decided on purchasing it to see if I can fit it in my window opening which was smaller than the minimum opening requirements. 12 " height to be specific, It took about 5 extra minutes to disassemble the window balance, but it was easy.. I really wanted to make a video but I'm not set up for that. Originally I wanted mini split until I was quoted 8k for a single zone system by multiple companies. I purchased the 8 k Midea u shaped unit for under 350 after taxes and its doing a great job cooling 400 square feet of the lower level of my ranch, I would have purchased the 10 or 12k but they were not available for pick up near me. So far the unit is great , super quiet and well thought out.
Will you guys be making the extension arm a little longer in the near future ? The width of my widow is 45 inches. I am a huge fan of your U shaped AC and would love to purchase one.
Hello Michaelangelo. We are happy that you are looking forward to having this unit in future. We don't have that answer just yet! You can keep an eye out at midea.com or on our Facebook page! Have a great night!
@@MideaAmerica I have the same problem. Would have bought one by now but my window is also around that 45 inch mark. Please create wider/more versatile kits for installs.
We grabbed two of the 8,000 units to put in the kids rooms. Quite a bit quieter than others I've had in the past. We choose these for the security of the window closing in the middle of the unit for safety, also wanted the WiFi to monitor them from across the house. (Haven't explored that yet) Also really like how it doesn't block the other side of the window glass. The windows in the rooms are both 52 inches, well outside the range for the included install hardware. I spent probably an hour and a half figuring out how to fabricate a mounting system using the support arms included in the box. (Well worth the time) And watching the video was helpful, even though I ignored a lot of it, some of the kit wasn't useful with my install. Once I figured the first one out, the second one went in in less than 15 minutes.

@@sylviaheredia7513 I set up the center support bracket in accordance with the instructions, leaving off the side arms. Mounted the unit towards the side instead of the middle of the window, and trimmed one of the styrofoam blocks to fit the short side. I also bolted the lower lip of the inside of the support bracket to the flange at the bottom of the opening for structural security. For the long side I cut and trimmed a piece of lumber with a set of dado blades to lock into the window track. You might need to get some foam to close the gap at the top of the lower window pane, the foam strip that comes with the unit might not be long enough. I'm planning on using a standard cabinet surface latch to lock it in place. I didn't list any exact measurements because your window probably isn't exactly like mine, you'll need to figure some of it out for the differences. I hope this helps you enough to figure out what you'll need.
I'm about to tackle this starting today. I also have 52 inches. I still don't have it in my mind of how I'm going to do this. Well at least Home Depot is pretty close to my home.
You definitely need the video to install as the written instructions can be a little confusing. I watched the video a couple times (and a couple other unboxing videos) before I started my install. We have a 200+ year old house so our windows are far from standard. I knew in advance I would have to add some wood under the unit for the bracket. I measured the window made the center mark and installed the bracket. Everything was spot on. However when I installed the unit, with it properly positioned, the openings to either side were different - one side I had to cut the foam to 4" and the other side was 2". I guess the storm windows were not installed to center LOL. In our case, the window doesn't close in the U, the storm window does. I don't know that I'd be able to properly install the bracket if I based it on the window instead of the storm. Other that that, very pleased with our unit.

My biggest problem is that my window is large and has an interior trim that is too small to put the screws in directly, but if I try to attach the support to the window frame past the trim the arms aren't long enough to reach even extended all the way out. I'm going to have to improvise a bit. But the video did help get me started.
I don’t have Facebook. Is the support frame supposed to screw into the inside window sill or into the window frame channel? I couldn’t tell from the picture.

Just got mine. Installation was a problem.old house with wood and cement sills both. Had to MacGyver support for the legs. Only thing worth mentioning is the side screws for bracket, put them in and take them out before installing unit. I had to take a shorty screw driver and pliers to turn them. There is no quality control for foam pieces with lip, the lip was not on the edge. Had to bend them to get it inside of window sash. Well designed, really quiet. I use the app instead of remote. If you can find one get it. Hope it lasts as long as my 30 year old Panasonic L-shaped a/c.
Hello zardoz2350. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about the Midea U Shaped Air Conditioner. We are happy that you enjoy your AC unit's high quality design and quite cooling!
I just finished installation of our 8000btu and just have to say: wow, this is the most quiet AC for the cooling power and price I've experienced. re: the :U" design: being able to open the window while the unit was installed was less of a want than just the promised noise reduction the design provides; but the way the bracket system takes the weight of the unit actually makes installation process much less of a pain over traditionally designed window ACs. The provided foam sealing material took a bit of time to properly size out and customize to the bracket's fitting with my somewhat dated window frame; but once they were in, they sealed much better than what I've experienced with other ACs' "side skirts", plus *none* of the cut-to-fit sealing material or sealing design is permanently adhered to anything but the removeable bracket and unit. That's a really nice feature for folks like me that live in buildings with colder winters, where we're required to remove our window AC units seasonally. And as far as the noise reduction itself, literally all I can hear inside - even when it's running on its highest settings - is just ordinary fan noise. None of the rattling or gurgling *at all*. *Very* satisfied with this purchase.
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback and kind words! So happy to hear you are enjoying your new AC. Welcome to the Midea Family. Have a great day!
Great updated video for installing the 2021 units. My unit was secondhand and missing user manual. This video was all I needed to get the job done. Thank you.

I bought one of those last summer and it was such a relief. I encountered 2 problems: 1- the supporting arms of the window bracket are too short; technically I could bring them all closer to the window, but the concrete part of the window sill blocks them. It made the whole thing a bit unstable, but since my balcony is on the other side of the window, I thought it shouldn’t be too problematic. But now I want to buy a second unit and this time there is no balcony. Are there longer arms available? 2- maybe because it wasn’t perfectly leveled (see point 1), some water was leaking from time to time. Does a perfectly leveled unit prevents that? Is there a drain ? Thanks.
Jean, you do not want any window AC to be level, or worse, tilting into your dwelling. Window ACs are meant to be installed with a slight grade tilting out of the window towards the ground (the part of the AC you see in the room should be slightly tilted towards the ceiling) so the draining of water sucked out of your room drips outside and not in. You have probably installed your unit with the tilt angled into your room rather than towards the ground outside.
Only took me three hours and I'm pretty handy. Had to go buy extra foam to seal all the gaps. Great idea, but not quite universal without some "field engineering".

This was impossible to install for me due to my window set up. If the wall outside your window is slanted (rather than strictly parallel to the window), the support arms will prevent the bracket from sitting properly due to the way they are designed. Now I get to return this 70 pound box and pay $40 shipping. Buyer beware.

Hello Douglas PJK. Thank you for your comment about the Midea U Shaped AC unit. Please contact us today on Facebook at m.me/MideaAmerica if we can further assist you.
How important is it for the bracket to be exactly in the center? The outside wall on my house has protruding bricks that would require me to shift the bracket to the left by 1/2" to allow both legs to sit evenly (as in, the left extension arm will be slightly shorter than the right one).
I guess you'll have to improvise... maybe with some 2x4s fix a bracket so just that part where the legs fit falls flat. Or adjust the legs so they sit flat. I had the same problem. How did you end up doing it?
@@RobertDeloyd exactly this. I carved out a 2x4 so it fit perfectly over the stones to provide a flat surface for the legs to go against. This was much more effort than I really cared to exert and would recommend people just buy a different air conditioner if their outside wall is not flat.
@@BrandonHall916 Although a bracket is a good idea for any AC unit. They are required in NYC to prevent AC units dropping on people's heads (but not enforced on lower buildings).
This was one of the hardest and most frustrating installations I've ever completed. My window is not like either window here, in that I live in a 100 year old house where new windows were fitted inside the old window boxes, so I simply could not complete several steps in the instructions - additionally my siding outside made it impossible to get level AND make contact with the wall, so the air conditioner is tilted inward a wee bit, and leaks the condensation water all over my floor. The AC itself is great, but the installation is hell and if I can't stop it leaking, I will have to return it.
Hello Megan Hewins. We appreciate your comment about the Midea U Air Conditioner. We are sorry to hear that your AC unit was difficult to install. If at all possible, it is important that the AC unit is tilted toward the outside. If we can further assist you, contact us on Facebook today m.me/MideaAmerica.
Yeah it was a pain on my tiny house windows as well. Had to frame in extra stuff with wood. It seems to work alright once installed but the “easy fit” bit definitely only applies if you have newer modern windows of standard size.
Another issue I had as I’m renting an apartment in a very old house 100 years old. The house is not grounded I had to have a GFCI installed and this Media 8000 tripped the outlet ever single time the compressor kicked on. I then bought an LG Wi-Fi enabled 8000btu and now I’m not having problems and it runs very quiet. That’s all I wanted something to cool me down without listening to a bunch of racket. I wanted the Media to work for me but it has to be returned.
During installation, the bracket feet slip against my brick exterior. Either the brackets are tight & tilt inward, or they slip & tilt well over 1/4 outward. I expect that the weight of the unit will get them to stick in place, but at that point it would be difficult to make necessary adjustments.
Beware. The lower bracket that has to be screwed to the sides of the window is adjustable only in 1/2 inch increments. If it doesn’t happen to fit your window you’ll have to rig something to make it fit. A serious design flaw that is not addressed in this video, which assumes that the bracket will just magically fit. I spoke to customer service and their only suggestion was to return the unit to Amazon.
An obvious shortcoming of these is the very soft thin aluminum fins on the outside with no protective grille. Most window AC units have either stiffer stainless steel fins or a grille.
Hello. Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it! Please let us know if we can assist in any way via Facebook at m.me/MideaAmerica. Have an excellent day! (BBB A+ Accredited Business)
They might get away with it, I have 40 year old Sears Kenmore plastic frame little suitcase a.c. that still works great with those same flimsy fins. They almost lőők like Christmas garland. I clean it thoughally with hot soapy bleachwater each preseason & post season (before storing it in a strong plastic bag I pull a vacuum on before sealing.).
Holy balls this was a TERRIBLE instructional video. Too slow when it didn't matter, and all the crucial parts were either ambiguous, sped through, or not even explained at all! Took me over an hour to get through 7min of instructions. 😒
Hello @celticstephenhill, we're sorry that the installation video did not meet your expectations. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at digitalsupport@midea.com. Have a great day!
At 2:53, there's a comment about fitting the bracket to the left and right side of the window, but this is not shown. The left and right side of the window are literally blocked from view at this point.
Hello @mamita75, thank you for your comment. We're sorry you found the installation process difficult. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at digitalsupport@midea.com. Have a great day!
I got mine two days ago and couldnt get it in by myself bought some beers and got a friend over today and in ten minutes my house was cold. This unit is bomb You messed up dude just get a drill some beer and a friend over
In the one I just bought, there is no center arrow as in the video around 2:22. Instead, it has extra lid protracted to the outside, as in the 0:22 of the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-liU1A3krnC0.html. This makes it unfit to my non-flat window sill.
Hello zhen huang. Thank you for your comment about the Midea U Shaped Air Conditioner. Please contact us today on Facebook at m.me/MideaAmerica so we can assist you.
@Midea America: You have a continuity error at 6:19. Immediately after installing the side foam, you launch into the "anti-tip bracket" with this as your first instruction: "Slide the anti-tip bracket out". Except if the user obeys, they can NOT slide out the bracket because it is still blocked by the screws.. tit is required that the screw be removed first. Because I was able to slide the brackets a little before hitting the screw, I just assumed that screw was to force me to slide the bracket out in the opposite direction so I wasted 30 minutes wondering if I had a manufacturing defect. I wasted 10 minutes reading Reviews to learn the issue: Remove the screws, THEN slide out the bracket... Suggestion: You can just insert this into the video using something like a powerpoint slide, and not have to re-record the whole video. Consider there are a lot of installation difficulties, but the one I'm talking about is easily fixed in just your video documentation. Thanks.
Woah I have the same problem! There was nothing about the anti tip bracket earlier in the video. Then suddenly, ten minutes in, the video tells me to “replace” a screw. I never took the screw out! It was 95 degrees and we were hot and frustrated when we found this out, with the AC have installed. So we went back and tried to unscrew the screws from the anti tip bracket and they wouldn’t budge. The screw started getting hot too, so we stopped before we permanently lodged it. It felt defective. It’s now about to be returned. The shipping label is printed and ready.
@@MideaAmerica Hey, Midea, why have you not yet -- a *year* later! -- incorporated into the installation video this feedback which you supposedly "appreciate" [and which is (a) spot-on accurate, and (b) simple to do (via the OP's suggestion of a simple edit)]? The OP is right, of course: the video makes no mention of the need to remove this screw -- and that glaring error (which, again, is a piece of cake to fix, yes?) causes a big headache for those of us who are dumb enough to, ya know, follow your directions precisely. Now, I can't wait to see the Midea auto-response ("thank you for your feedback," or "please contact support"), accompanied by exactly zero actual action. Yet another example of a terrific product with support which is *almost* extra excellent...but with the ball left at the 1-yard line because the company can't be bothered to actually take into account some excellent, simple advice. I'll just never cease to be amazed...
Agree, seems like an awful lot to ask. I know my current one is old and I would like an upgrade, but you just slide the casing through the window and then slide the unit into the casing. Done. I don't really understand why the installation process looks so challenging. I understand it's a unique design, but holy moly.
@@aev1977I had to pull my whole window out due to the fact it wouldn’t go high enough to clear I really hope it last long don’t wanna replace anytime soon!
Don't buy it if you have anything out of the ordinary with respect to your window or roof. This is way too much work for even the most ordinary of circumstances, let alone a window with a sloped roof outside it.
Just installed mine today. Sloped roof outside my window. Easy to mod the wall bracket with a pair of pliers. Took 30s. Runs super quiet compared to normal ACs, which is super valuable with how many vid calls I'm on these days.
Doing this in the heat of the day was frustrating, but the manual and video were excellent. Took about an hour to install, I wish the step for the anti tilt bar was before bringing the window down, I asked "why did I put it down just to put it up again. Awesome product, we'll see how long it lasts.
Completed installation of the 12,000 Midea today.......'Qapla!' Klingon for 'success'. Thanks for usable tutorial. Just woke-up from an afternoon nap, wow, so quiet.
Hi @TheMendo123, the extra foam blocks can be used to seal up any gaps that you might have. If these gaps do not exist, the blocks can be considered as extra pieces. Have a great day!
Like how quiet it is. Installed an 8000 BTU unit. Wish I could have gotten a 10000 BTU or larger but it will help supplement our under sized AC during the summer. I like that it has window locks. I really like how quiet it is. It’s so impressive compared to a normal window unit.
@@imaudm I’m in central LA. We get the same climate, although I think Houston area is pretty darn rough, especially downtown. I was there last year when the humidity was terrible and it was well over 100 degrees. I’m going to see how this one keeps up with the central air this weekend when it’s in the upper 90s.
Wouldn’t recommend this without this video to help. The manual… sheesh. Love the unit though. Works so well in the small home office and doesn’t bleed into phone calls. It’s very quiet relative to your standard window units.
Hello @howardjp.miamioh, we apologize if our instruction manual was not clear. Nonetheless, we are thrilled to know that you managed to install your unit successfully and that you are enjoying its quiet operation and performance. Have a great day!
Is there a way to buy more seal or foam I ask because I bought one for my apartment but I want to be future prof when I decide to move I don’t think the foam will come out in one piece when you decide to take it out
I chose a different brand of inverter AC unit because of what would have been the added complexity of the installation because I have triple track double hung storm windows. The installation instructions don't seem to cover this very common situation.
Hi @wholeNwon, we apologize if you found the installation process to be complex. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us at digitalsupport@midea.com. Have a wonderful day!
@@MideaAmerica Thank you for responding. If you had included instructions on how best to deal with the storm window issue, I probably would have bought your unit. Yours is a very large company with a long manufacturing history and likely a deep engineering bench. The unit I did buy was also an inverter type with a sound level that equaled yours but with conventional installation. However it is a little heavier than yours.
I would consider offering up my firstborn child instead of having to install this again. With that said, it's a great unit that's super quiet once you get it in.
Hi @laddturner3203, we're sorry that you found the installation process tedious. However, we're glad you're enjoying the unit's performance and quiet operation. Have a great day!
The gap when the window does not close flush with the foam at the top is an issue if there is a lot of rain and high winds. Any recommendations on what can be done to securely close that gap?
