As I daily a 2005 E220 CDI (Europe), I am pretty sure that the headunit you guys pulled out of the car was sold as the COMAND 50 in Europe with Navigation only, that‘s why one button is blank. For every 4 or 5 Cylinder Car (except some E 280s and maybe early E 240s), the Audio 20 CC (until 2003, with Cassette Player) or the Audio 20 CD (CD-Disc Player) was standard. The Audio 20 CD is easily swappable to any aftermarket Radio as they were only available without the Harman/Kardon Soundsystem (only available on the COMAND Unit‘s). Be aware that the CD-Changer will become useless (if equipped) when using an aftermarket Unit and the Lid which either holds the Changer or the storage cubby won‘t be usable anymore (there is an ODB-Fix, but I am not 100% sure if it works)
So is there no security code to input into the replacement head unit? It is simply 'plug and play'? This is a brilliant video, as I can't seem to find any information on the Internet, about swapping a standard and faulty head unit for a good used one from ebay. Your video is the first one I've come across that shows how easy it potentially is. My worry is a security code, stopping it from working.
I have a 2006 sl500 (R230) what is the head unit part number that I need to buy that will have the aux plug in the back of it. I do not have the aux input in the glove box. Thanks
I don't know if this works on the older W211's but it worked on my 2010 W212. This looks like a W212 head unit but the car software may not be the same. I turned on the Bluetooth receiver and now I can stream music from my phone. No need for the aux cord. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-soPFeP377co.html
OK...I replaced my OEM cassette unit with same model you did and when I plug it in the unit did not come on at all... and prior to taking out the old unit I put the fuses back in because my car has a parasidic drain and the unit display did come on but said nothing and after reading comments you said not coding was necessary. I too bought my unit off ebay but 2 years ago!! dont judge me please... does this sound like a unit problem or a compatibility issue??
I repeated this process using the same replacement unit and the unit doesn't come on at all.. Is this a bad unit problem or compatibility issue?? Need help..... BTW I bought mine on Ebay too.....
Does anybody know what that big plug is called in the back and how do you connect to speakers and head unit from that goddamn plug? Its impossible to find adapter for it.
Also, I have an aux input inside of my glove box. But its not hooked up by factory. Only the iPhone 4 cable thats in glove box is hooked up. But I hard the aux input on the ceiling of the glove box has a wire that you just need to swap already back there. U just gotta unplug the iPhone one, and plug the aux one in instead. Does that model have that also? I got a 2008 e350 w211.
@@theconfortibrothers2827 ok thats what I thought, thanks. I previously bought a iPhone to aux extender, but for some reason it just doesn't get very loud at sll.
You guys need to either move out into the driveway or close the garage doors. Your camera can't adjust to the bright exterior and dim interior. Everything's very dark. I've seen all of your garage videos and it's a common issue. I do appreciate the videos though. Thank you.
I have a 2008 e350. I want to do this. Pretty sure the head unit u put in is the same exact one in my car. Where can I buy that aux cord? Can you put the link in? Also. Can you confirm or not if installation will be the same in my car? Because my car interior looks slightly different. Any guidance much appreciated.
I installed an android head unit in my 08 e350. I love it. It's basically an android phone, even better with a backup camera. Love it. Sadly for some reason the sound went out. Which sucks. But still love it with that backup camera. I'll change it later on for a newer one.
The Conforti Brothers I have better question then, I have the same exact radio you guys took out but it’s stopped working because the cassette player is messed, so is it better to buy that same radio and use it with a cassette Bluetooth of amazon or just buy a new radio like y’all and set up the Aux cord ?
O'BEN we recommend upgrading to the command unit we installed with aux because the audio is more clear than using the cassette player with the adapter. Is your cassette door stuck in the open position?
