Friggin not even close! Ugh! Lower bracket won’t fit at all, no idea on how (or where) to install the lock.... oooof

Thank you for this question. Should your sliding glass door not sit flush against the Patio Panel after installation, you can add weatherstripping of your choice to the sliding glass door. We recommend using an adhesive backed polyether foam that is approximately 5/8 in. x 3/8 in. wide.

We're so sorry for any misunderstanding! A sliding glass door with a track this narrow would not be able to fit this panel. Most sliding glass doors have tracks large enough for the 3/4" deep panel to fit; the T brackets will fit within this track as well.

@@petsafebrand The 1/4" wide section im referring to is the "ridge". My track is just like any other track, and the PetSafe door fits great within it. The "ridge" prevents my T bracket from sitting flush with the ground. So Im just not even using it.

If you have to turn sideways to fit through the door then this is not an issue with PetSafe. Eihh the er you didn’t do the math to figure out how much space you were losing when you installed this thing OR you did but you aren’t self-aware of your own width. Anyone with even the slightest amount of ability for logical thinking would know that you will lose space in that opening after installing this thing…one should also consider losing some girth on their own belly to accommodate that loss of space.

Adjust the sliding door hight. At the bottom you should be able to raise and drop the wheels to fix the gap.

@@petsafebrand , my sliding glass door opens on the opposite side, so I can’t use that lock or a piece of wood. Pella doors look like they’re installed backwards but they’re not. What other latching mechanism can I use to lock my door? it would have to attach to the inside track and the door somehow.

Thank you for your reply! It sounds like you are describing the rotary style lock which is no longer included with our standard Patio Panel Pet Doors. This item comes with our 96" Patio Panel Pet Doors and Sliding Glass Pet Doors only which is why we have not included it with this video. I know what you mean so I’ll actually be helpful. After you Mount it onto the glass door, you have to drill a 1/4” hole in the other door to where that locking bolt will slide into

They did skip it they don't have a clue just relocate yours and hopefully it's a post and not a recess for the latch

The locking mechanism that goes near the foot of the track will be your new way of locking the door. You will have to put a hole in the sliding door frame and the pin can set in there

I think it would be alot better if it fastened to the sliding door & opened and closed just like the slider.

We are going to have to use the ole "dowel in the bottom of the door track" method. The lock given will not work with our doors.

don't buy. the doggy door shrinks in the winter. hard plastic or plexiglass doors are the only real option. the companies doing doors that hinge in 3 places are good too. also they make you buy brackets from them seperatly, and those are a must for install.

Please know the closing panel and lock is provided for aesthetic and energy efficiency purposes only. These items are not intended as security devices. Forcible or aggressive entry/exit attempts by pet or human are subject to damage the door.

The lock that came with the dog panel is a POS. We ended up not using it and just putting a very thick stick pole in the track of the door.

@@lisaflesher this is what I would do but our sliding door is on the exterior side so we can’t use a stick. I just can’t believe there’s no nub to actually grip that locking pin to unlock it. May put a piece of string around the end of the pin so as to enable a simple string pull to unlock it. Would have to get creative just to mark the hole where the security latch pin needs to be drilled into the door. Seems intentional how they just breeze thru one of the most critical parts of the install. Most probably have the stick option because their sliding door is on the interior side

Your builder installed your sliding door backwards then - you should be able to put a broom handle back there (from the inside) to secure it. If your sliding door is exterior then that’s a design fault of your builder not PetSafe. There is plenty wrong with this door and this garbage tutorial but this isn’t one of them.

Thank you for asking about this! On most sliding glass doors, there would not be a protrusion in this area. For doors that have this, you would need to unscrew/remove this piece so that the panel can sit flush against the frame. We're so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

please show exactly WHAT you mean to remove? I measured this opening five times and ordered the shortest door you sell on Amazon, and the one I received is 1" too tall for the opening. It will sit there fine, unused, but my daughter's dog going full tilt through the door rips it off the door jamb. I'm about to leave for a big box store to find some angle iron to install this. Any help you can give would be appreciated. @@petsafebrand

This is a great question, Vincent! As shown at around 1:12, there is a hole drilled for the sliding bolt on the lock; this allows the bolt to be slid into place to lock the sliding portion of the door.

We're so sorry to hear this panel is not to your preferences! It is designed for use with the sliding glass portion of the door, so this would unfortunately mean there would be a gap if the screen were used. Some customers who use their screen very often may choose to instead align their panel with the screen, or to not permanently install their panel and move it as needed. For maximum stability and longevity of the panel, however, we do recommend screwing the panel into place. Another option if you prefer to use your screen very often is our pet screen door. I unscrewed the 3 screws at the top and reattached it, which helped, but I'll need to go buy weather stripping for both sides of the door. Also, it's raining today, and every time I walk by the door there are water drops coming off the bottom of the panel and onto the floor, as well as yet another draft. Now I'll need to figure out what to buy to stuff up inside the bottom and also the draft from the adjustable top. The little lock given also does not work with our door. One thing to note, we have the doors with the blinds inside, and because the controller is on the side of the stationary door, we can't open the sliding door all the way, making it very hard to go out sideways!
