I don’t think it should. All the Firecuda SSD’s are made the same way. The screw is made to secure the SSD down in place. Make sure that the drive is fully secured into the connectors. You should hear a distinct click when the drive is in place. If it is not, it could affect how the screw in the back of the SSD goes into the Demi circle. Also did you read the specifications that Sony gave? They are very specific what drives are compatible and aren’t with the PS5.

Awesome! Yea surprisingly the PS5 without the Spider-Man figure looks so different haha. It gives it a unique look.

It was between the WD SN850 or the Firecuda 530. Reason I decided to go with the Firecuda 530 was because it had a higher read and write speed and also because in some tests that I saw on RU-vid by other reviewers, the Firecuda 530 ran cooler while playing a game off the drive than the SN 850. It could influence the life of the drive and so that’s why I decided to get the Firecuda 530. Also all the drives I use for both PS5 and Xbox Series X are from Seagate, so also wanted to keep commonality. Another drive that caught my eye was a drive from Sabrient which has an included heat sink that replaces the PS5’s SSD cover plate. Thank you for your question and hope this answers it.

@@ethangoldberger5290 Thank you. This validate many of the points I was looking for in a drive. I was looking at the Sabrient too but I think I like the enclosed heatsink better.

This seems to be the drive being faulty. I would return and see about getting another drive. If the same problem happens again then it’s a problem with the PS5 itself.

Yes they will still be on your PS5. You can transfer your games to and from the drive. This also includes their data. Nothing is lost. This also goes for other M.2 SSD drives such as the Western Digital WDBlack SN850.

I haven’t touched the firecuda 530 ever since I installed it back in December of 2021 when I released this video. Still works thus far with no issue.

Jesus Guzman: it should be a #1 Philips head screwdriver. It’s one of smaller ones. As George._Sir._Gemini said, your screw driver might be stripped. Also you could try a flat head screwdriver as well.

The key takeaway is “up to.” The speed is up to 7300 mbps per second. That is not the same as saying such as “the drive operates at 7300 mbps.” When they say the drive operates up to 7300 mbps it means that is the maximum speed it can hit. Often times the drive hits a lower speed. That being said 5658 seems a bit low, barely faster than the 5500 mbps of the PS5’s internal SSD. Is the Firecuda drive at least working in terms of playing games off it?

Well Best Buy is as authentic as it gets. Got mine from Best Buy as well.

@@Anaconda-squeeze reformat an it'll show a higher read speed. That's what I did an it hit 6300+

That’s very strange. The stock spacer should always fit. Very weird. You could try exchanging that SSD for another one that fits in the 110 slot.

@@ethangoldberger5290 the spacer wasn’t a perfect circle (assuming that’s a Sony error since I’ve never opened the SSD space until now I was able to get it to fit by shaping it back and it’s all set up working (aside from the test only reading at 5600, no issues so far)

That’s a Sony thing there. Quality control on their end. Glad you got it to fit, cause the spacer is a critical component in making sure the drive is level and stable.

It’s not that hard. Just follow the step by step instructions in this video and you’ll be able to install an SSD in your PS5 in no time. In the long term I do recommend installing an SSD due to games only getting larger in size.
