In this video I show how to remove your old stock throttle and idle cables, and install some beautiful braided lines from Magnum Shielding. I also show how to adjust your throttle cable.
A really great video . This gentleman has a gift, of being able to explain things step by step, so people can take-it in. I learned alot from this video and his front brake cable replacement and how to bleed the system.
Thank You SO MUCH for the great video. I used it to adjust my throttle on a new set of 14" bars, look killer, STOKED!! Got her done with your help, BIG THANKS! Had a beer at the end like you. Everything on RU-vid looks easier when someone else, with experience, does it....
Thanks so much. I've watched a few of these videos and yours is by far the most informative and easiest to understand. Much appreciated. And thanks for the advice on celebrating with the cold beer that was a great idea! LOL
What a great video man. I have an 06 Street bob and after watching this I have no doubt I can replace these cables tomorrow 🤙🏼 again awesome video brother
Love your videos... I am rebuilding my 98 roadking from the ground up... First time rebuilding a bike... And i have to say your videos are the best.. I am good at taking things apart and i take pictures along the way... But sometimes i forget to take a certain picture at a certain angle and boom idk what i am doing... Lol but i found your videos and its helped me alot along the way... Sorry for the long ramble... Thanks dude..
Nice job, brother! I installed a new chumps bar and forgot if the two push and pull cables were seated all the way into the housing or not (plus the spring config). Very helpful and a nice job. Pristine (without all the other crap that some people take; 5 minute video that extends to 15-minutes-plus)! : )
Finally utilized this video haha, got rid of my trash oem cables (50k miles old lol) and threw on some Barnett performance cables. Tutorial was super easy to follow, but man I felt like a wimp pulling the cables from the control housing, those things were in there tight! Took advantage of having the controls open and took out the stupid 'cruise control' dial as well. A few things idk if I was dumb or if I just misunderstood. But when I was adjusting the cables, I went off the butterfly valve inside the throttle body being open 100% then gave it the additional turn as you suggested, rather than looking at the wheel on the side of the throttle body. For the return cable that one I'm not sure I have adjusted correctly. The body of the cable was touching the spring inside the slot on the throttle body from the get go, so I couldn't adjust till then. So I adjusted until the return felt right, and backed off a full clockwise rotation and it feels nice, smooth, and snappy now. Finally went in and ordered that little cap as well so I can remove the vapor canister up front next weekend. I think I'm going to keep the bracket in place though, it looks like the perfect bracket to hold a horizontal mounted oil cooler 🤞 Thanks again for the time and effort in this videos man, I check back on them all the time!
Thanks man the best video I,ve watched on this, it looked like a pain in the ass. But you made it look a little easier by explaining it better. Subed cheers from Down Under.
Great video! I believe my cables are to long I was hoping for a better shot of the idle cable going on to the Throttle Body. No matter how I adjust it the fitting and the spring doesn’t move. I’ll be checking out your cable sponsor they have style for sure!
Great as I'm about to install new cables on my XLC. Step IV is basically just taking all the slack out the cables and making sure wide open on the grip is wide open at the carb wheel...right? The opposite same w/ the idle?
I have a 2001 heritage softail FLSTCI and want to know how the throttle and idle cables go around the injector? One of them has a spring. Don't want to mess that up.
Excellent video! Curious, when you install the new cable, how do you know which cable goes on which side on the handlebars? I already took mine off on the handlebars so I'm not sure which one is which..
I have an 03 Sportster and getting to the throttle wheel is a pain. Will I have to remove the carb to get to it. I have the throttle cable off but the idle cable is tucked in the back with no way of removing it
I bought my first motorcycle I never worked on any of them or even cars. I noticed that iddle and throttle cable are "loose" this metal part 7:29 that goes straight to that plastic is very loose how to fix that? and also is that litttle wheel under the throttle is mechanic cruise control? because my 2007 dyna street bop has the same thing. But please tell me what to do with cables I assume this part that touches that plastic underneath suppose to be solid , mine is very loose both cables .
so after you tighten the throttle cable,,,, i think you turn it CCW one turn it would loosen it up correct ??? i broke my new cable after 1000 miles. i think it was to tight no slack at WOP...
The screw inside the adjusting nut and lock nut is stripped and I am unable to adjust my pull cable. I have a 2000 Springer. I don't want to buy a whole new cable. Can the elbow and the other pieces be replaced?
Hi,, you got a great ride. Your videos are very ilustrative and useful .. I bought from magnum a kit for a 14 inch ape and this is the 2nd time the idle cable fails(break) with only a year.. Is that possible or do i have to lubricate every 3 months... Any advise?
I'm having trouble removing mine from the clam shell I have a 97 and I tug and the silver part came off but the nipple that's in the shell is stuck half way. I'm in a wheelchair with a modified Harley to a drivable side car just in case I get razzled.
For anybody reading this. The idle cable has a little spring at the end of it that hooks on to the throttle wheel. (The spring does not hook to anything)
Hi Ryan, are you asking about the throttle body? Either way... my throttle housing, body, cable... everything shown in the video is stock for a ‘14 FXDB. Does something look different on your bike? If so, what year and model? If there is something I can help with let me know. +The Ryan8er
Granite City Riders no im asking about like what the throttle side hand grip goes on that the throttle cable attaches to ? Like biltwell whiskey throttle or something like that ?
Thanks for posting this video. I am installing Magnum Chromite cables tonight. I needed this video to learn how to connect the cables to the intake. Definitely helped out. Thanks again.
I am hearing Harley went woke with Bud Light..... They gonna lose a lot of business if not everyone. A lot of us wont tolerate that bs. There are plenty of other bike makers besides Harley!
