Thank you so much! I have one just like the second one you showed but mine does not have a set screw so I don’t know how to remove it... it feels pretty solid Don’t know if I should try twisting it off or if it comes off by pulling it ??? Please help thanks in advance

Just want to clarify that the 3rd faucet is delta rp5836. It's meant for copper stub out that is not threaded and can slip on just like the video. The rp17453 is meant for threaded nipple and will need to sweat onto the copper if it's simply a stub out.

What's the disk on the pipe called thanks

Thanks for such an informative video. I was wondering what the term for the toothed ring around the actual copper stub out at or in the wall is. We have a copper pipe that moves around too much, causing our caulk to break up and crumble.

Hi +Nathan Pitts! We're glad you enjoyed it. That ring you're referring to is a "push nut star" and they can be found on our site at www.plumbingsupply.com/copper.html#star - thanks for watching!

thanks for the video! one question - it seems like NPT spouts run the risk of the threads running out before the spout is flush against the wall (or hitting the wall too early, causing the threads to not be tight). How to have those things reach their tightness at just the same time? or is that handled by the spout design somehow?
@plumbingsupplycom
@plumbingsupplycom 8 лет назад
Hi +wisterwalcott, thanks for your question! One key step in installing tub spouts is ensuring you have the appropriate length to start with - or you will definitely run into the problems you mentioned and there is no easy way to fix those issues. If you have an NPT connection for your tub spout, the easiest way to avoid problems is to make sure that your new spout is the same length as your old one. There are three different types of threaded spouts, which we cover in more detail on our site at www.plumbingsupply.com/info-tubspouts.html, but as a quick reference guide see below. If you have a FRONT-END threaded spout, measure from the wall to the end of the nipple to get the appropriate size. If you have a WALL-END threaded spout, your threaded nipple should be a maximum 1/2" in length. If you have a TELESCOPING threaded spout, your nipple should be a maximum 1-3/8" in length. If you can't find an appropriate spout for your setup and your nipple is too long, you're probably going to need to install a new one. If it is too short, you may also want to install a new one or find an adapter that will lengthen it. Luckily, most tub spouts are sized the same to help avoid these types of problems so if you're diligent in measuring and comparing dimensions before you purchase a new spout, you can save yourself a lot of trouble. We hope this helps, and as always, if you need more assistance our fabulous customer service team (sales@plumbingsupply.com) is happy to hear from you!

Just what I need. The brass insert for RP17453. Can't find it under your web. Please advise.

@plumbingsupplycom 6 лет назад
Hello Mike - unfortunately, the brass insert is not offered as a standalone product, only with the RP17453: www.plumbingsupply.com/deltafaucetparts.html#deltaparts17000s You might try contacting Delta directly to see if they're able to ship you a free replacement: plumbingnet.com/delta-faucet-co/

Where can I buy that adapter that goes on the 1/2 copper so I am able to instal my spout that has threads "needs to be scewed on" please help thanks!
@plumbingsupplycom
@plumbingsupplycom 8 лет назад
Hi +Jacob W , we do not currently offer the adapter piece separately because it is specific to Delta and many people find out it won't work with their spout only after they've tried installing it (at which point it is non-returnable). We recommend contacting the manufacturer of the tub spout you have to see if they offer an adapter for it, or possibly choosing another spout that is either designed for copper or that already has an adapter. We offer a variety of tub spouts at www.plumbingsupply.com/tubspouts.html, including an excellent "universal" fit tub spout that will work for almost any piping situation. We hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Why do you say to shut the water off? The tub has a valve.
@plumbingsupplycom
@plumbingsupplycom 7 лет назад
Hi +poche12651, we typically recommend shutting the water off whenever you're working with something like this just in case. If you choose to leave the water on and rely on the valve, that's perfectly fine too.

The way the plumber who worked on my house a couple years ago was, he made a hole into the tile and wall larger than the tub spout and fed it through from the opposite side of the wall. The problem is, since the hole is larger than the base of the tub spout there is nothing to caulk to. Stupid ass plumber. I guess he thought if he screwed it on from the front it may not end up pointing down. I have to replace the entire faucet because it failed and today I found that they make a tub spout ring that I can hide the hole he made.

+Dasdfjkl - We're glad you found something to help you out! In case anyone else needs one, we offer nifty self-sealing tub spout rings at www.plumbingsupply.com/tubspouts.html#tubshowertrimplate - which are super easy to install and will hide those kind of holes. If you need something bigger, we also have a variety of smitty plates at www.plumbingsupply.com/smitty-remodeler-repair-plates.html As always, thanks for watching!
