If you're looking to buy a Ford Mustang from the Foxbody (1979-1993) generation, the torque boxes are either already damaged or you're going to eventually damage them hooning around. Thankfully, since I'm build a four cylinder car that didn't get abused, mine are not damaged yet. In an effort to prevent them from becoming torn, bent, or otherwise weakened I'm going to add a set of UPR Products torque box reinforcements. I bought these on a Black Friday sale last year and have just set them in the corner until the widebody build was ready for them Well... That time is now. This is the lower reinforcements going in. I will do a separate video for the upper reinforcements because you can buy them separate.

I painted mine first and just bolted in . My car is not as torn apart as yours. They are sturdy enough bolted .

Hey man, so i just installed my lowers and im not sure but is the part that bolts into the small section of the lower control arm supposed to be flush against the part of the body/frame? Right now, there is space on both sides of the lower section, but it bolts up. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, it should sit flush against it. If it doesn't squeeze down when you tighten the bolt, you can add some large washers between the pieces to take up the gap. The goal is to make it connect from end to end for maximum strength.

Im installing these on my 03 Mach 1. Can you still weld them in with the abs cable and grommet running through the lowers?
@BasinMotorsports
@BasinMotorsports 6 лет назад
You should be able to. All the welding should be on the top side of the metal on the seat pan, and shouldn't affect anything on the bottom of the car. If you're doing the lower set also, they require you to remove the lower arm for the brackets, so you could do them at the same time and move the cables further away.

Basin Motorsports so all the welding is done inside the car then?
@BasinMotorsports
@BasinMotorsports 6 лет назад
Yes. You can weld the plate on the rear seat pan for the lowers and then the curved plate for the upper set. All inside the car. I show where I welded on each video. Welding is a choice, but not a requirement. They are capable products with just the bolts if you don't have a welder.

Basin Motorsports thank you. I appreciate it

Basin Motorsports one last thing, if I take it to someone to have it welded, are they going to have to undo the control arms so the bushings don't get ruined from the heat?

Do you need to install these if you swap in an IRS into a fox body?
@BasinMotorsports
@BasinMotorsports 5 лет назад
You wouldn't need them since the IRS deletes the control arms completely. You'd be adding braces to areas that don't do anything.

Thanks for the reply! Same thing with the uppers? All this info and video is so helpful, thanks for making this.
@BasinMotorsports

Sorry, I was mistaken between the uppers and lowers. You reuse the lower mounts, so you can add the lowers. The uppers aren't reused, so I would skip those.

Are you going to show how to do the uppers???
@BasinMotorsports
@BasinMotorsports 6 лет назад
Yes, that will be released next week (either Monday night or Tuesday). I did the halves separately because you can buy them separately.

I did get everything covered when I did all the interior work. No worries for corrosion.
